👋 The newly updated 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon equipped with the hybrid 4Xe powertrain is off road ready right? Well today we take the Rubicon 4Xe on the trails to see how well it stacks up to other off road vehicles we've tested. We even recently brought the Raptor Bronco out here and it conquered everything with ease! The 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is also very equipped to handle off roading. I will say this could use taller tires and a small lift to keep up with what the Bronco Raptor could do. But the Raptor is also $20k more expensive. The Jeep Wrangler 392 with 35in tires would have done perfectly fine like the Raptor. And I can assume a normal Bronco that is similar in price to the Wrangler we tested would do about the same. Just a bit of ground clearance issues with a stock Rubicon, but that can easily be fixed. The 4Xe powertrain was awesome off roading! We had it in electric mode the whole time and it was so cool! Silently off roading through the trails utilizing plenty of torque and the 4x4 system the Jeep crawls over every obstacle! There was plenty of articulation with the swaybar disconnect and it really was very comfortable in the dirt. I like how the 4Xe system works overall. In Hybrid mode it will use the engine and EV system as needed to work efficiently and give you the most power when desired. Going down hill the battery would regenerate a lot so we always hade plenty of charge. I think this hybrid technology is the future and really gives you a perfect blend and off roading we found the 4Xe to be an amazing powertrain!

I have the 2024 4xe Willy’s in Electric mode there’s nothing that’s going to out crawl it on boulders and hills and it’s effortless doing so . Have 10,000 miles on it now and about 2000 of them miles are off road and since I live in the Oregon cascade mountains (PNW) and it is my 6 Jeep and as of now I’m loving it it’s awesome and it’s a real head turner out on the trail and a conversation starter.

i have the 4xe Rubicon and it’s my daily driver. Putting 37s and a 3.5 lift on it. So fun nd it’s very comfortable on road.

I just factory ordered a 24 Rubicon X 4xe with the sky one touch and the winch. As soon as it gets here it will get a 2" lift, 37" tires and maybe 4.88 gears. I definitely plan treating it like it like I did my 76 CJ-5. :) well, ok, maybe not that rough but definitely have all the plans for wheelin.

Great video! Do you know if the extended stubs on the front bumper are removable? Looks like they poke out quite a bit. I know the non winch factory steel bumpers have much smaller ones.

They are! It’s the same as the bumpers without the winch, that’s just an option.

I never had one on my Tacoma, never been in that situation to need it. I wouldn’t say it’s necessary but it depends on the terrain you are on. I don’t do mud or anything like that so I’ve never needed one.

I just picked up what's called a Come Along for the just in case scenario. Like a tow strap, just strap it down somewhere out of the way and hopefully you'll never need it.

The electric motor is always helping even when in e save. Common misconception with the 4xe. You can avoid either. With enough throttle electric and gas always help each other. And yes full electric or engine on is best for off roading. Hybrid mode you could get clutch slippage from the dual clutch causing roll back.

I wouldn’t agree, that’s what the battery saver is for, to not use it.

No matter what you do, give it enough throttle to accelerate or if you’re stuck on something both methods will kick in. Can’t shut one or the other down permanently

@@anthonycangialosi9914 you can though. That’s what the battery save mode is for. To not use it. You can run just on the battery. And run just on the gas.

300+ miles of all-electric range, as opposed to about 20 on the 4xe. The Tesla Supercharger network is fast, reliable, and makes range anxiety a non-issue. No reason to need gas.

@@degnarius I’d disagree, we’ve had some EV’s as press vehicles and range anxiety is real. Keep in mind the Jeep is a plug in hybrid. You can’t compare that EV range to a full ev. The Jeep has a longer overall range, gas and ev vs just ev on the Tesla. I’ll never buy an EV. Currently own an X5 plug in and with 470 miles per tank with the EV system, beats having to worry about finding a charging station.

I currently own a ‘21 Rubicon 4xe and a Model S Plaid. I’ve owned Teslas since 2017. I’m not sure what part of the country you’re in, but after many 1,000+ mile roadtrips in the Southeast and out to the Midwest I’ve never been range limited by charging infrastructure. I love my Wrangler, but as soon as there’s a pure EV version available, I’m trading it in.

@@degnarius how much time have you had to sit and wait for the charge though? Glad you enjoy it, it’s not something I want to wait around for as I’ve experienced with the EV’s we’ve had. Unless you actually plan for a charge, on a trip I could see that, not worth it to me.

The bronco will not flex like a wrangler. Not even close. Bronco is a Baja oriented truck.

No, but for an IFS and sway bar disconnect, it’ll do pretty much everything a Jeep can. Only the true “hard core rock” crawling is where a solid axle will have an advantage.

4xe Sucks in northern states - here in Wisconsin noone buying them. My neighbor has one - averaging 24 MPG, my 2L Turbo alone is 20.5.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed because in the cold climate 4xe has no benefit over conventional 2L turbo especially when you drive 40+miles a day. But mostly because of numerous reliability issues and operational cost.

What's the "no benefit" mean? 4mpg is still pretty good over a 2L especially considering the added weight. What reliability and operational costs have you seen since you don't own one? I own an X5 hybrid and cold month don’t effect it and minimal costs to operate, so I drive a similar vehicle.

@@BrosFOURRSpeed My next door neighbor has one and drives exactly the same as i do. Fuel efficiency benefits are negligible compared to all the additional costs of owning the vehicle, including the cost of 4xe drivetrain itself, fast charging station at home. He tried to trade it in to buy a new RubiconX - and the offer he got was just ridiculous, indicating the value of 4xe depreciates significantly compared to conventional jeeps.
