7:30 I've only roamed the path through Radnorshire and Shropshire Route-finding seemed puzzling over the section between Disgwylfa Hill and Gladestry; followed by picking a route through Candy Wood towards the Old Racecourse (even using detailed guide book) Great series of films - very enjoyable!

Yep, I remember the area around the Old Racecourse and was quite fiddle. That’s the thing about this trail, some of the signage is really good and other times your left scratching your head and thinking this is really poor for a National Trail. Glad you enjoyed the series, and hope you have opportunity to enjoy more of the channel. Cheers, Nigel

Great little review. Though I’d just add, another great reason for finishing in Prestatyn is that there is the Offa’s Dyke Path guest book to sign in the leisure centre! Personally I’d rather sign that on completion of, opposed to starting the trail.

Thanks, appreciate the info, yes it would feel rather strange signing the book at the beginning! Receiving this info and other comments, on reflection I've decided to include a point in the title to inform viewers to review the comments for extra info. Cheers

Enjoyed all the videos in your series on the Offa's Dyke Path - thank you. I'm looking to do it (wild camping) this year and June sounds like a good time based on your experience. This follows up doing the Pennine Way last June. I've subscribed to your channel - I'm interested to watch next some of your West Pennines stuff, which is near where I live.

Hi Tim, thanks for subscribing and glad you enjoyed OD, yep totally agree June would be a good month to do this trail. Hope you enjoy the West Pennine Moors, quite a few different videos to catch, from my early days on UT 👍🏼😁

Thanks for your reply, Nigel. I'm currently doing the Lancashire Way in sections and enjoyed the section of that on the West Pennine Moors. Will definitely check out your videos.

Really interesting discussion of the path, thank you. I walked the southern part to Knighton in September 22 (now last year!) and found it fairly dry still. Apart from its variety and beauty I also somehow felt it was a friendly trail, perhaps because I met a number of solo ladies walking it like myself. There is also a helpful FB group where people post lots of information and some great accounts of their walks on Offa's Dyke. Hoping to walk the northern part in 2023.

Thanks Catherine for the information. Yes suspect September would be still fairly dry and obviously a bit quieter as well. Best of luck for the Northern section. Cheers

Some useful and encouraging insights there. I live not far from the Dyke and have done from Chepstow up to Kington and camped numerous times. Yeah, pleanty of spots to camp. Good to hear you enjoyed the mountains. As for my start point (I'm planning the whole route) I think I'll take you up on Chepstpow to the North. All the best. Mark

Thanks for the tips..about to start this from Chepstow, wild camping along the way, in a Sigma Lightwave S15. I'm glad you stated that finding a suitable pitch for the night was straightforward. Few things worse as the night draws in , anxiety levels climbing as you can't find a discrete place to pitch. downloaded the entire route to 'offline maps' in my OS Maps app. Just came back from walking part of the Pennine Bridalway, and finding a place to camp was a real pain at times, with farms seemingly every other field, and stone walls blocking access to most places out of sight. Not a pleasant time, TBH. I hope this walk will be much easier for camping.

Interested that you’ve got the S15, I love my Sigma. I’ve done bits of the PB in the past and as you say it’s a pain to try and find a wild camp. I’m sure once you get a fair distance away from Chepstow you’ll be fine. Best of luck and hope you have a great adventure.

The S15 stood up well on the PB. With a couple of real heavy rain and gusting wind nights. I've still not mastered the contortionist act required to change out of wet gear to dry sleep kit in such a small space though! Like an idiot it didn't occur to me that doing so on a near 3 inch thick inflated mat reduced the headroom to nearly the same degree
@AmblingTrails
@AmblingTrails Жыл бұрын
You can imagine that the Sigma one is even smaller but it does help to keep it cosy, less cold air to warm up! Also, mines put up with some rough stuff this winter and I'm really please how I've got on. Thanks for sharing your journey and experience. Take Care.

An enriched cream of oak dipped in ointment 🧴 liquid fish 🐠 they called him one night in 1681 a bacons breath took the hand of the creamery 🥛 and smothered rich pork fish goo all over the towns people. The ancient gnome of the demon world fast approached from horse muck carriages and felt rich sauce from her ancient breath.

Good question, and I'm finding this come up quite a lot, so I think I will do a video on the subject some time soon. But for now to answer your question, mainly Topo and Inov-8. I prefer Topo as I like the wide toe box and the low drop heel, however they don't do a winter version off the boot yet, but you can get a waterproof trail shoe. So in winter Inov-8, but never totally happy with their hiking boots but possibly like yourself I'm always searching for the perfect pair. Hope that's helpful, happy to answer further question if required. Cheers

Ok back now! Not sure if you have seen it but I did a series of videos for Offa's Dyke and part five - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/adeYesWe3p3KgWw.html covers the section you are interested in. The distance is about twenty miles and there is quite a considerable amount of ascent. Obviously, you will need to ascend Moel Fame as well, so suspect it will need more than a day to complete. Of all the sections I did I think this is the worst in terms of water re-supply, so make sure you take plenty. Not sure what other info will be helpful, so drop us a line with specific questions and I will try to help you. Have a great adventure and hope all goes well.
