Phillies went from London to Boston to Baltimore. MLB screwed us with that schedule with no days off. It was also Father’s Day. They needed to get back to CBP.
@stevebabiak6997
@stevebabiak6997 Ай бұрын
Part of the problem was actually the extra days off for the overseas travel. Starting pitchers had too many days off between starts, and they weren’t sharp in their next start. There is one good takeaway: when the Phillies get days off after the season for being the division winners, the starters will have to get four or five innings minimum of simulated game to stay sharp - so they don’t turn into the -Braves- Cowards

Well excuse me! Rafael Marchàn going 4 for 4 is a big reason too of the line up did great in all honesty! Having a switch hitter in that 9 hole is something we have probably Never had! I get yesterday not putting Marchàn in catching Zack Wheeler so you put Stubbs in but Rafael was great. Great to see our Phillies explode 💯

Well we Knew(Or should have known) that we were gonna go thru some adversity. You just can't keep winning and winning. Especially when being without 3 starters (Marsh/Turner/JT). Great to get back two so we can get back to hitting and winning. Like I said weeks ago, we will get it going again. Just to much talent not to. Adversity can do nothing but help you in the long run. We Will Be Just Fine going forward.

Realmuto is the leader of this team. He’s the heart and soul but he was so bad at the plate before he got hurt.

He was really good for a couple weeks after he came back from injury, but the knee was definitely starting to nag him again, which is why the ended up scheduling the surgery now. I saw your other comment saying Marchan is hitting better than Realmuto, which is outright foolish. He had a nice HR the other day in Bmore and 4 knocks today so all the credit to him, but when JT is healthy he's the best catcher in baseball. You're definitely right that he's a leader on this team though (I wouldn't say THE leader). Also, one thing I just realized you may have confused: he didn't "get hurt." He was playing hurt for over a month. He was out for several games early in the season, and it's the same knee injury now. It never fully healed. When he's back and healthy again, I expect him to be a huge part of our end-of-season and postseason run, both offensively and defensively.

Either someone got through to him during the offseason, or Schwarber finally realized that it would be hard to get a new contract by anyone after next season if he didn't get his average up. He's 70 points above where he was last year at this very same point in the season. That is staggering. Also, he changed his swing back to the way it was when he came up from the minors with his top hand releasing. That was when he was a near .280 avg hitter with the Cubs his first season. He could be come back player of the year.

Why do these dudes still bring up the Schwarber as the lead off thing? That was like 2 seasons ago that was a topic and legit anytime he does something good both Ricky and Ben have to make some smart comment about how he’s the greatest lead off hitter of all time. Dude is having a phenomenal season though 😂

Rojas was mediocre at best as a hitter, and for some reason he tried to turn routine plays into more dramatic highlight reel stuff and occasionally messed those up. So there is some learning / maturity that he has to go through.
