Alternative seating is getting more and more popular as we've discovered the importance of posture and the dangers of sitting for extended periods of time. Dr. Luo goes through five different types of seating options for work or home and ranks them based on comfortability, posture, adjustability, price and practicality!

There was one kneeling chair with a broken wheel in my college's printmaking studio.... none of the tables were the right height for it, but I would go sit on it or stretch my back over it during breaks and I loved it. Definitely thinking about getting one for my own studio now. I had no idea how much of a difference a chair could make !!

Liked the video. Thank you. It’s actually looking for something about a more regular computer chair that would help force good posture as I get some back pain. Thanks. 👏🏻

Could you please review the Ball Chair, where the exercise ball is mounted in a wheeled base with back support? (Isokinetics, Luxfit, Sivana, Gaaim being some that make them.)

Thanks for the review! Would have been interesting to hear your thoughts about a rocking knee chair.

They have their pros and cons. The pro is that it's a nice motion that is soothing and satisfies the need for movement. But they often don't adjust as much as other chairs for your legs. So if you are very short or very tall they might not be ideal for you.

I want to try out my stability ball at work. I don't do a whole lot of desk work, but during the time of my training I'm at the computer a lot and I seriously hate the chairs my work provides. At intel of all places! And they don't bother to invest in better chairs.. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with the ball, maybe when I'm inflating it and trying to get it set up it might be a little annoying. Gonna try it out tomorrow. Hopefully it goes great! Wish me luck lol

I have herniated discs in my back, scoliosis, arthritis and inflammation. I'm soon to turn 37 years old. And I've made some decisions on taking a different path career wise. For one, I cannot handle doing jobs I did in the past that are physically demanding. My doctor says to not sit down or stand up for long periods without taking a break. I can't stand up longer than I can sit down. When I sit down my discs start killing me within 10 to 15 minutes. My chiropractor told me to get a foam cushion from Walmart to sit in. He told me not to get the donut chair cause that would make things far worse for me. I need alot of padding to sit on and nothing that pushes on my discs. If I was to sit in that first office chair you showed. My back would be killing me. There is not enough thick soft cushion to sit on. I've got back to school to get my GED. And I really need a good comfortable adjustable chair that goes up and down and leans back when I want it too with lots of padding and if in the future I was to get some kind of desk type job, I'd want this chair to be acceptable to have at work of possible. But I really do need a good chair and an adjustable desk to use when I study. Cause there are times I want to study while standing up and I can't do that unless I have a good adjustable desk. And one that will also hold a laptop at eye level for me to see well. So if you or anybody reading can share some links and videos with me of the best types of chairs and desks that would suit me, please tell me cause I'd desperately need them. Cause as of now, I'm so uncomfortable studying at home. And I'm not exactly sure what career path I will choose. Or whether if I go to college or not. But I've checked out some optioms in healthcare that do not involve heavy lifting. I want a good pay job that is low stressed and doesn't require difficult advance math and great hours to maintain a healthy work life balance. But I live in a amall city in Alabama and there is not alot of options close by to work. It seems I would be have more hope of finding a decent job if I got into the healthcare buisness. And I've heard some women who make decent money working at Human Resources. Even though I am an introvert and would probably prefer a job working from home if that was a possibility. I do have a good bed side manner and would like to be able to help people. But I cannot lift patients. And I don't want a job that so many college graduates are coming out and doing and uts too saturated and harder to find a job. So I have been looking at lesser known jobs in the healthcare buisness etc. But I want the freedom to sit and stand as I need too. And I don't want to stuck in a college for years and swimming in debt paying off student loans far greater than what the kind of job I will do will probably pay in 1 year. It doesn't make sence to me to pay for an education that is going to have me swimming in debt in the best years of my life. I want decent pay and insurance, benefits retirement etc. But I don't want the debt. And I honestly don't think I would want to pursue anything past a bachelor's degree. Although it would be great if whatever I studied had room for growth if I wish I went back to school. It just depends. But I'm no tech wizard. I spend the first 20 years of my life without any internet access in my home. It was no big deal back then as it is now. That's why I will be taking computer literacy, healthcare and hospitality in the MAPS program (Mobilizing Alabama Pathways). I've already took the 3 Aztec Curriculum Work Key courses Applied Math, Workplace Documents and Graphic Literacy and passed all 3 and got my 1st certificate. But now I still need 2 more certificates. But for now my tecah has me back studying on math, reading and writing for my GED. I should also mention I have Dyscalculia. Which means advance math is a challenge for me to understand and remember math facts sometimes. Basic math I'm fine with. And I've worked Western Union before handling thousands of dollars with no problem. It's only advance math that I find really hard and challenging. And I've forgotten all Algebra and Geometry since I've been out of school for 20 years. Bit I'm hoping that with getting my GED and work keys, more doors of opportunity will open to me. And maybe even college might be a possibility too me. I have a childhood friend who also has Dyscalculia. She said math in college kicked her in the booty. She had to get accommodations and a tutor. But she finally got her Masters Degree and is now a Distruct Manager. I have an older friend with Dyscalculia who is a retired English Teacher. She is really great in English and History. But she failed math and had to retake it and passed with a C. So we all have our strengths. Some folks said they thought I'd make a great teacher. But teachers are highly overworked and ON all day and underpaid. My sister in law gas been an elementary teacher for 7 years now and the kids are driving g her crazy. They misbehave and you can not discipline as you should. And honestly, being stuck all day in a room with a bunch of disobedient rowdy kids who want mind and you cant make them mind sounds like my own version of hell. I also HATED working as a cashier when I was younger. I hated dealing with the public always in my face and having to talk and greet somebody every few minutes. It got a little better when I moved to the service desk for western union, but still customers in grocery stores drive me up the wall and they also got on my husbands nerves who was the front end manager. He later quit years later and now he works as a steel workers and has a very physically demanding job nd builds stuff and lifts heavy objects. But he says he prefers that than dealing with customers and the public. And I don't blame him. We are both introverts and prefer being left on our own to do our work and not be bothered by others. I also hate talking on the phone alot. But I'd do it if I had no choice if that was my job. But I would prefer to see what options I might have to work from home. And if Ido work around people, I'd want it to be in a setting that I'm most comfortable in. And I do like the thought of jobs that make a difference and help others. But I'd have to find a happy balance of how much I'm exposed to peoppe and expected to talk all day long. Cause I prefer to have some time to myself if possible and have short interactions. But since I also have physical pains with my back, I have to find something that suits me physically and does not requiring constant non stop sitting or standing. That I can sit and stand when I need too. And I'll have holidays and weekends off so I don't have time taken away from spending with my family and can maintain a health work life balance. I'm not a 1orkaholic that's for sure. But it would be nice if I could find a job that suits me and makes me happy. And will be a job I can easily find wherever I live. Even in a small country town So I'd appreciate some advice.

4:34 You should be aware that as a man, you need to protect your pudendal area from pressure. I actually became impotent for a few years after I straddled a bathtub ridge one day developing photos in my home darkroom. I don’t wish that experience on my worst enemy. A flat surface such as a chair is more safe - as you’re not as likely to crush the exterior male blood vessels and nerve against the bone as you are with something you sit straddled on. I wouldn’t sit on a ball knowing what I know now. The risk with ball is low, but not zero.

Having a fake personality can detach the head from the body, so the person is experiencing the image they have of themselves instead of seeing through inside out through their body and senses... bad perception, morals, and perversion can twist a person internally, so that while externally they are "saving face" by maintaining a certain posture, internally and spiritually they are twisted. Some places are ruled by insecurity and confusion, sometimes entire cities or states....
