Someday I’d like to hear about all the pets you have had in your life, their temperaments, and how they impacted you. I can see that animals have been important to you since before your three current ones.

Thank you for sharing your space! Moths cannot chew through paper, but they can chew through plastic (how I discovered this is a sad story of mangled yarn!) Storing your yarn and when your handknits are put away for the summer in paper bags with some drops of cedar oil on the paper are the best way to keep them moth-free.

In general, I went to your channel to watch a video about the Kaweco brass handle... but I can't believe my eyes!!! You have a mechanical watch, a kerosene lamp and wooden furniture, but you also knit with your own hands!!! I thought that there were no lovers of such a situation and things left... I repair a little mechanical desktop and wall, pendulum clocks. Recently renovated and slightly restored a grandfather clock with weights and a gong from the 60s. And the last watches that I repaired and put in order were cabinet, desk clocks with a calendar of the 50s and 60s, also from the USSR and they are also with a balance stroke, like yours))) Tell me, do you light your kerosene lamp? I have 2 lamps of the 50s (bat) and one petrol, shazter lamp, I sometimes light it in the evening for the atmosphere. Your furniture is very good! ;)

Hello and thank you so much for commenting! I’m so glad you can relate to all these things. Those old USSR clocks are really wonderful. I would gladly have more. And the kerosene lamp, I love so much! I bet your space looks so wonderful when you have your lamps light up. They really do make such a nice atmosphere.

@@adventuredenali I am very glad that you are not indifferent to this topic!!! Thank you for your interest! Yes, I am fond of all sorts of vintage and vintage things. There are 3 film cameras of the 50s and one of them is Agfa - the end of the thirties of the last century. There is something from German ceramics of the same years. I'm also a little interested in paleontology and birds. It also attracts old wooden furniture and all sorts of mechanical watches, including wristwatches - these are "live" watches))). And a mechanical wall clock or a table clock, such as yours, I call them the "heart of the house" ❤️ They are alive :))) If I had the opportunity, I would be happy to give you some watches) If you suddenly decide to get another watch, then I recommend taking a wall, pendulum clock with a fight. For me personally , such watches create a wonderful , ancient atmosphere of comfort and do not interfere with sleep at all, despite the fact that I have several of them working at the same time ! Yes, mechanical watches, unlike battery-powered watches, need to be serviced periodically by a watchmaker , but it's worth it!!! My space is certainly far from what I would like, but I strive for it :) I really like the atmosphere of the dwelling, which you can see in the Sherlock Holmes Museum in London or in the Soviet TV series called "The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson" (1979) By the way, in that movie almost every house has a mechanical clock ;) Sometimes on a summer evening I go out into the clearing, where I have a chair and a small table, light my lamp and light a bonfire under the starry sky. And the owl keeps me company 🦉))) Please tell me, do you play any of the instruments that you have? I've been looking at a German accordion of the late 30s Hohner Verdi and if possible I'll take it away. It remains only to learn how to play it)))

What a great room! I have the same problem with my secretary desks--only put things in the top drawers that I don't use very often. If you're concerned about moths, cedar chips in little muslin bags will work. Or you can put a drop of cedar wood essential oil on a cotton ball and put that in the drawer.
@adventuredenali

That’s a great idea! Yeah, I think using secretary desk spaces more intentionally, or differently than one would a standard desk is important. Easy to forget that when I want my most used things to be accessible at the top drawer!

It seems that the things you have, connote you are someone born in the wrong era. I love your taste for the old things and the way things used to be done. The one thing you didn't mention are the types of plants you have around your office. I couldn't help but wonder, was that a Hoya tricolor propagation sitting in that Erlenmeyer flask? Yes, you have a computer, but no other screens. Your office looks like a welcoming place away from modern day distractions. Thanks for sharing your space.

Heyyy Denali~~ Su here. I'm so happy to see your space organized. This video popped up right on my feed just when I was zooming around yt and I'm glad it did. It's so nice to see how others organize and make spaces work for them and how they work in them. I think seeing you make this update....has really strengthen my resolve to start making videos again! Your office is really lovely and cosy. Thanks for sharing. I don't know any person journaling and being a fountain pen lover who doesn't buy notebooks ahead. I see it this way: paper could get more expensive in the future, so better buying (a lot of) notebooks as long as I can afford them.

Storing wool in air tight plastic bags is quite smart. I even store more wool in bigger bags. Works perfectly fine and keeps moths out. Your office - diy space is so cosy! I need to declutter and reorganize my journal stuff in my secretaire, too. I have so much of the same stuff in different places that I don't remember where I have put things. 😵 I need to declutter and store the same things together. 👍🏻

It's a wonderful room! It's nice having a special place for crafting (with a door to shut when not ready to clean up, but not yet finished). I am always amazed how quickly we accumulate STUFF! Craft supplies but especially books; I swear they procreate while I'm not watching! I think I understand that little sting in your heart when thinking about beloved things left behind in a past life.. It sucks. Maybe one day you can rebuild that collection, or create an even better one.. (I know, it won't be the same..) Thank you for sharing!

As I write this, I have finally started the yarn cull I've been putting off for y ---- a long time. So far I've found lots of "but its so PRETTY" yarns and one that's "but it's so BORING" yarn. I may have to limit myself to keeping only worsted-weight suitable for dish cloths, cat mats and scrap blankets.

@5:30 I have heard this online, and there seems to be a bit of evidence to back it up... If you are worried about moths, you can use cedar blocks and/or lavender flowers. These are naturally toxic to moths, but not to humans, they also smell a lot better than moth balls. [This is the reason many bedroom furniture is made out of cedar, to help prevent moths.]

Thank you! Truth be told, I’ve yet to find the perfect chair for the desk. It’s an odd height, too tall for a standard chair, too short for a barstool, and I haven’t found an adjustable chair that is comfortable, aesthetically pleasing and properly sized! The secretary desk has primarily been a work space, which has been perfect for standing at. I still look for a chair, one day maybe I’ll find the perfect one.
