The sandwich you're thinking of is a "French Dip". Similar roll to a Philly Cheesesteak with sliced beef and cheese. Typically, you either get a cup of beef broth/gravy to dip it in as you eat it, or the top bun can be dipped in the gravy beforehand. Not sure where it originated, but you can find them semi regularly across the US.

This is for the bachelor that cooks at home. Want to cook a crisp crust pizza like the brick ovens in NY, even if it's a frozen pizza? Here's what you do. Go to the hardware store and buy four 12"x12" unglazed terracotta floor tiles. Put those tiles on the grill of your oven. Preheat the oven. Put the pizza on those hot tiles and bon appetit! Thank me later. ☺

Want to mention for Florida, the best Cuban Sandwiches are Miami specifically. If you aren’t in Miami (like me) and are near any of the coasts (like me), you need fresh catch of the day. We get a lot of fresh fish caught out on our beaches brought it and cooked less than 24 hours later. Grouper is almost always amazing, but so is the Mahi Mahi and Tilapia.

When one of you said you are disappointed with British pizza, I’m not sure if you can buy the raw pizza dough at your local pizzeria, or bagged at your grocery, but spread out the dough on a round or rectangular pan/ cookie sheet, top it with your favorite sauce and toppings, then toss it in the oven. So simple and good.

You actually have access to a pretty good Philly cheesesteak place in the UK. It’s a Philly sports bar called Passyunk Avenue in London. It’s named after Passyunk Avenue in South Philly and is run by someone originally from the Philly area, so they try to get the ingredients as close as possible. Mozzarella sticks are pretty good as well. I don’t know the exact address but I believe it’s located on Cleveland Street.

Marion berries are a cross between a raspberry and a blackberry. They have a VERY distinct flavor profile. They have a real thick and deep rich sweetness to them..... They taste nothing like any other type of berry out there! I am really not a fan of berry products, but when we go to Oregon to visit relatives.....I always bring back tubs of them from my relatives property where they grow them. My sister orders them to be shipped to Northern CA where we live each year so that she can make jams and jellies from them! You really have to try and order some preserves, you won't be disappointed....I promise you!

Just a quick note about the "13 fudge shops" thing. That's all on one island that's roughly 10 sq km in area. The island is known for it's fudge, as well as being almost completely free of cars save for emergency vehicles. It's a popular vacation destination in the state. As for what other foods we like, here are a few other favorites from across the state: Detroit Style Pizza: A deep dish pizza with dough similar to focaccia, baked in a square pan with cheese intentionally burnt onto the crust. Coney Island Hot Dog: A Hot dog topped with Chili, mustard. and onions. Most popular on the east side of the state. Beer: Grand Rapids, Michigan's second largest city, is known as one of, if not the best, beer cities in America. The West side of the state isn't very interesting, but at least you can get drunk. Cherries: Traverse City in the upper Northwest of the lower Peninsula holds the Cherry Festival every year. The area is the largest producer of tart cherries in the country. There's even a chain of stores in the area called the Cherry Republic where you can buy Cherry flavored foods like Pie. Cookies, James, and even Peanut Butter, Coffee, and Root Beer. Pasties: The Upper Peninsula is known for eating Pasties. Pretty much the same stuff you'd find in England as far as I understand, though I've never had either to compare.
