On behalf of POGs everywhere, thank you kind Sir. Edit: or "pogues" or whatever else. I didn't serve "in nam" or fought those "bad eggs from the Reich" so it's POG in my understanding. If you're old or care about the spelling or history and still understood me, why is it relevant? Thanks again brother for the help, still the best vid years later and I'm using it before CIF again!

l want to thank all of you for your service and the sacrifices that you and your families make. I just got one of these surplus today ,and thought that it sure was noisy with all the creaking, so I grabbed the can of silicone spray that I was using on the snaps and gave all the spots where the straps meet the frame a squirt and it is now squeak free, nice and quiet. I hope this helps someone stay stealthy and a degree safer. God bless you all, come home safe.

Cool, thank you. I prefer my ILBE with the assault pack, but I still love those sustainment pouches. I even bought an extra 2 pack for use with some chest rigs ( the others I use with my ILBE, it's APB03 assault pack, and certain rucks ). I snap the pouch tabs ( which gives you a loop, so to speak ) and fish lengths of paracord onto the crossed shoulder straps of certain chest rigs, make a couple of square and other knots to secure them on the chest rig's shoulder straps, and do the same thing with the bottom set of pouch loops and secure the bases of the pouches onto the horizontal belt of the chest rigs. I especially do this when I don't want to put on a ruck but want to carry a day or two's worth of extra meds, gear, ammo, mags, and so-on. They can be stuffed full of so much stuff they look deformed and I've still got room; two of those sustainment pouches is like having an assault pack, especially if you know how to pack them right. Since you have experience with this ruck ( probably because of military use, I'm guessing ? ), would this ruck, complete system with all components except for the radio pouch, which I already have, be a good investment for a collection of societal collapse ( the so-called SHTF/WROL scenario ) gear? I ask because Coleman's Surplus ( same place I get the sustainment pouches and 200 round SAW gunner pouches [the 200 round SAW gunner pouches are great for carrying 6 extra rifle mags, usually AK 30s for me] ) has the complete system for $70. It's a toss up between the MOLLE II Large Ruck shown here and the huge Belgian M65 "jigsaw camo" ruck, I'm sure you've seen them, with zippered on side pouches that can be zipped together to make an assault pack and the main ruck that's at least 100 liters, for $65 on another surplus vendor. I'm buying 1 or the other and I've heard some U.S. Army soldiers say the ruck shown here sucks and others say it's great. I generally stick with surplus, as it's generally superior to civilian gear in every way, for gear that will always come thru for me ( I've also heard that about the ALICE rucks, which I don't care for. People either say they are the best ruck the U.S. military has fielded, or that ALICE sucks. I don't think ALICE sucks, it's just not a ruck I would choose ). If you were to get a large ruck, would you choose the MOLLE II Large Ruck, or the Belgian, huge ( I think it's the M65 ) ruck?

I’m 5’6” and my ruck feels a little low. When you adjusted yours, did you simply just reattach the ruck in higher slots on the frame? Did that help? I’m getting ready to take mine apart and put it together again. I was told to put the waist belt upside down so it doesn’t press against my upper butt since the bag itself sits low. Did you do that as well? I swear us short guys got the short end of the stick with this gear lol

Good video. However the metal loops are what keeps the straps tight. They work just like motorcycle helmet chin straps. Run the strap through both loops as you did but then loop the strap back over the 2nd loop and push it through the first loop again, then pull the strap tight. The Velcro is only there to keep the strap from flapping. Velcro is not going to hold in a high g environment, such as airborne drops or other situations.
@mathewpaul31395 жыл бұрын
you are correct my friend
@vincentargomaniz86394 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah the parachute strap that goes across your waist is the same if I remember although that strap is mainly for quick release
@officercandidate54154 жыл бұрын
That is correct. However for the sake of simplicity, I left that out. I tried strapping throught the metal loops and also the technique in the video. It turns out that there was no difference. So I taught it the easier way.
@a_jim_so_dashing76644 жыл бұрын
@@officercandidate5415 Incorrect. The velcro is insufficient to hold the shoulder harness in place under field conditions. You MUST use the metal buckes like @Relectric69 stated. Your pack WILL fall apart the way you have it set up. For the sake of simplicity, teach people the correct way to do things.
@InitialFailure2 жыл бұрын
@@a_jim_so_dashing7664 false, I had mine setup like this for years and it never failed. Probably because my MOS doesn't rely on rucks and so it stayed in the closet so maybe the issue is MOS choice?
