This song is really genuine, I remember as a kid walking up very tall hills and bridges with my bicycle just to ride all the way down, like I was flying and feeling that rush of excitement from the wind. At the time I didn't care I was riding in the middle of the road, but listening to this song made me cry thinking how it all could have been taken away so quickly and how ashamed I would have felt to leave my loving parents that way, like what happened to the child in the song. Only an honest masterpiece like this can bring emotions and tears to me and many others, thank you Kikuo.

i don't know if anyone else has mentioned this, but i think the fact that the child constantly mentions feeling "good" refers to the fact that, when subjected to extreme injury and the brain knows you can't recover from it, you don't feel any pain- in fact, you feel bliss and even a sense of peace so, maybe this will be some solace to anyone upset by this song; that at least the child felt peace in their final moments

The toys “melting away” was the most heartbreaking part of this song to me. It really just blatantly reminded you of the potential this child had that was so suddenly ripped away by death. When the toys were mentioned this fact combined with the idea of the grieving parents throwing everything away just to save themselves from the pain of their child’s untimely demise I almost cried.

"The music box never stops" either the engine continues running or his death feels like its going on forever.

Horrific things being described from children’s perspective...in Gommenne, Gommenne, and now this. I think the reason why this so deeply disturbs people is because not only are you hearing material that would disturb an adult from the perspective of an innocent little child who should never, ever, have to even know such things exist, but hearing that activates your parental reflexes-even if you don’t want to be a parent, it’s like we have a built-in longing to keep children safe. Maybe a survival reflex to ensure we live on...I’m thinking too hard in an attempt not to get freaked out any further...

Something I noticed that I haven’t seen anyone talking about is at 4:34 when you see the the soldier’s sword flashing and waving while it’s in the music box. Typically in some cases when an accident occurs, there will be a police officer directing traffic using a thing a traffic control wand, which are plastic batons that flash and light up and you typically move them to the left and right to move traffic away from a crash or area you don’t want other drivers to go near. So, in this case, the boy may be interpreting the the police as soldiers, and their swords as traffic control wands that are directing oncoming traffic away from the site of where he was hit. I know it’s a tiny detail, but it really clicks with the whole “the soldiers are police officers” theory that many people have with this video.

THIS SONG MAKES ME CRY EVERY TIME. Children dying is just so sad, they never get to grow up, and their parents never get to finish raising them and see their child become an adult. It’s gut wrenching, honestly. Kikuo is an artist I admire greatly. He is especially masterful with words and the emotions are so visceral. I’ll probably listen to this one at least 100 times

If you look really close at the end, you can see a single tear drop from the parents' eyes. That made me shiver. Along with the dead stare that literally makes this song even sadder. Kikuo, this song is beautiful but it makes me so sad.

this song hits SO HARD. im a teen with multiple progressive conditions, because of that i won't live as long as my friends or (most of) my family. ive accepted it but my parents havent. everyday they become a little more sad, they mourn the life i could've had, and i hate all of it. im content with my fate, in fact i think it has helped me grow and become who i am! but they dont see it like that. i wish they would accept my demise and *stop looking so fucking sad all the time.* i can never truly comfort them on this and i hate it.

The part where the child talked about his mom buying toys for him really got to me. This whole song just hit me in the feels for some reason. Maybe it's because I'm still a child? I'm not sure, but that one part just.. It shows how quickly their life can be taken away, and.. It sorta makes me think that the kid was thinking about the good memories with his parents as if he was trying to ignore their sad expressions and just wanted to remember the happy times with them before he died.

My little sister died a few years ago, she was only five and I was six. She was born with a genetic condition called agenesis of the corpus callosum, which essentially means that the two halves of her brain weren't connected. This caused her overall development and way of life to be extremely disabled from the beginning. She could not walk, had frequent seizures and although she could make noises, she could never speak any language or understand any. She could never progress past pre-k despite her age, and in the weeks leading up to her death she had just learned how to hold a bottle to her mouth. I know for a fact that all of this had a heavy impact on my family, physically, mentally, financially, etc. After all, my mom had already had a miscarriage years prior, and I cannot imagine the stress she must have been under during that time, especially considering that both of my parents were working a full time job and having to raise me at the same time. And even despite all of this, my sister was such a bright light to everyone who had the blessing of meeting her. She was constantly giggling with joy and smiling, and she was so positive that lots of kids used to make sure to play with her despite her disabilities. I genuinely have never met such a content person ever since her, she was nearly always in a happy mood. I'm telling this story because I have never found anything that encompassed that entire experience as accurate as this song. I cant help but cry and think about her whenever I listen to this, and I understand and relate to every note and lyric. Its been years ever since her death, season change and I am no longer grieving her death like before. In lots of ways I am thankful to have had her as a sister, she taught me so much, and in other ways I can see how experiencing her death has messed me up. I was so young and people around me were always sad, and expecting me to be too. I don't think I ever felt genuinely happy again until I was 12, after which I had been discharged from a mental hospital and had lots of treatment. None of this was her fault, her and I were just little girls, oblivious to the world. I miss her so much sometimes, so much that I find willingly myself looking at photos and rereading her obituary. She was such an angel, and I'll never understand why god decided to take such a beautiful soul from this world, although I am thankful because I know that our world is not deserving of such. Thank you kikuo, thank you so much for making me feel heard and creating such meaningful music.

Didn't happen to me but my cousin When we were 12, it was in december nearing christmas. He rode a bicycle down a road at our grandma's house since they lived in a neighborhood on a mountain. There was a truck that would run through the base of the mountain typically on a bi-weekly basis. It rained pretty heavily in this area too so potholes were not uncommon and half of the road would consistently be under roadwork during the winter since that's when it rained the most. With that context, in a series of unfortunate events: He went too fast to stop, wheel on caught on a deceptively large pothole, he flipped forwards into the oncoming truck and promptly got ran over what I could guess is about 10,000lbs/4,500kg. His leg got turned to mush and he was immediately knocked out. 40 minutes later and we're in an ER room and in the middle of his operation, he died... -for about 3 minutes. Craziest shit happened, his heart stopped for 3 minutes then began to pick up again. He has to live in a wheelchair but he wasn't too peeved by it, rather we were all wondering why and how he was still alive after presumably dying. Now it's just a joke to horrify other people with.

Idk but after seeing the comments about what happened to the kid, it made me cry so bad that my brain was imagining of a kid dying the same way in front of me and it was so painful in my head that i had to bite my blanket just to keep myself quiet😢 such a good and painfully sad song

Dear god. Only now do I realize how sad this song actually is, when put into perspective. So this young child, one that was still living a very carefree and vibrant life-- His parents gave him lots of toys to play with and he had a bright imagination, a wonderful relationship with his parents themselves... The child dies. In as simple a way as a vehicle accident, but when put in depth it can seem horrifyingly morbid and really sad. Because his body parts and such get crushed and cracked and popped and worse, under a tire, perhaps. I bet everyone seeing that accident was heavily traumatized by the sight. I would say one of the only good things about this incident is that the child seemingly enjoyed the moment of his death. He must have had his nerves killed or something, as he only focused on the enjoyment of being crushed into nothingness. I'm unsure how he could've felt that well dying-- and it looks like he agrees because he's actually embarrassed when his parents are weeping over his death, but he just thought of how fun it was to die. And his parents have to deal with their only child suddenly being ripped away from them. They spent lots of time with him having hope that he would grow old and well, yet those aspirations were debunked, and down came tumbling all that happiness and livelihood for naught. They had to bid farewell to all of the toys and comic books gifted to the child, a goodbye to the thought of ever raising that child to adulthood... Long story short: Kid died too early. And messily. Dreams shattered. Sad.

This song hurts my soul. Knowing the translation makes the video ten times worse. Kudos Kiku for making me cry!

I feel so bad that this song hits hard and this song is about a child dying in a bicycle accident. It is very heartbreaking and harmonious at the same time.
