Lumen Field in Seattle should be higher on the list. Probably the best home field advantage in the NFL not to mention it’s a beautiful building. Most rankings I’ve seen online have this as a top 5 stadium. My only issue with it…should have had a roof. Going from a closed stadium (Kingdome) to an open stadium in a city that gets a lot of rain and unpredictable weather is it’s only downfall. Not a bad seat in that building

Bay Area resident. Everything about Levi’s is an abomination. The location, the lack of shade, the boring appearance. It’s a glorified high school stadium. Or a temporary or unfinished stadium. You need to do some more research. The reason why Metlife Stadium has those color seats is to give a neutral feel to the Stadium since the Giants and Jets both play there. The Jets use to share Giants Stadium with the Giants. The seating and the feel were Giants which was a big Jets complaint. When the two teams agreed to build Metlife, the seats were purposely neutral color so it would not be Jets or Giants colors. Other parts of the stadium are modified on game day to give that home team feel, but obviously you can't change seat colors so that is why it is the way it is.
@JH-tg3qg Жыл бұрын
Correct sir I live 15 miles from metlife. My complaint is that with Two owners paying for a stadium it should have a retractable roof so they could bid for the super bowl final 4 etc etc! Dumb move

I can understand the interior being neutral because it hosts two home teams. What I don't understand is the exterior, from the picture it looks like a big gray block. It wouldn't need team logo's, but something so it doesn't look like some kind a huge factory building would have been nice.

Pretty solid list overall. I am one that was definitely surprised that NRG was that low. First retractable roof, second biggest screen, lots of diffused natural light during the day. BTW, the roof rolls all the way back past the end zones, I’m not sure why you think it is small. It’s actually four times the size of the opening at AT&T in Dallas. I would say that the outside hasn’t aged too well and might need some updating soon.

While I do think the Soldier Field renovation was botched, I think its severely underrated. Why would they go with such a modern aesthetic and not something more classical to fit with the columns they kept from the original stadium I'll never know, but having lived just a 15 minute walk from the stadium and having gone to events there- I would argue its one of the more elite outdoor stadiums in the NFL. Sitting along the lake in Chicago, its an incredible atmosphere and vibe surrounding the stadium, the way it sits along the Chicago skyline is magnificent, and the interior seating bowl is incredibly unique in the way it is designed. Also love the seating color. The way the old is mixed with the new is such a unique aesthetic for the NFL. Also, Metlife & Levi are way too damn high. Easily bottom 5 stadiums. Metlife given it serves the New York City area and is already outdated, Levi for much of the same reasons, albeit slightly more aesthetically pleasing.

Naw. I feel the complete opposite. The only time where I thought it was great I'd when it's used for Festivals/Concerts. For NFL and Football/Soccer...it's pretty dull. It always gives off a work in progress stadium feel. The seats on the second level at the back or ends give off a skewed perspective. It's as if there is something missing, a void. Doesn't give off its a giant stadium at all
@PapaVanTwee5 Жыл бұрын
What Soldier Field was known for was that front facade. They didn't want to take that away. By that same token, making the rest of the stadium look like a spaceship is just... off. It doesn't fit the area. They should have stayed with the same look, just make it modern. If Indiana can turn that barn look into a world class football stadium, so could Chicago. Although now it's too late, the Bears are fleeing to Arlington Heights.

MetLife Stadium has the highest level of success and fan comfort. That alone makes it the NFL's best stadium. Does it matter if the building design is not flashy ???

The awesome thing about open bowl stadiums like the Buffalo Bills’ Highmark stadium is that there are absolutely no shadows on the field during day games. So Bills’ games look great on TV. Any stadium with a canopy ends up having half the field in shadow for most of the game. It sucks.

The bengals are in dire need of an upgrade. A stadium reminiscent of Lucas oil field (complete with a retractable roof) would be ideal. But that’s likely a decade + away from even being talked about

There's more to a stadium than what color the seats are or what the upper deck looks like. How easy is it to get to (whether driving or using municipal transportation), how is parking, how the people can access the stadium, concourse, food courts, etc... Basing rankings on aesthetics isn't a true ranking IMO
@Drake444442 ай бұрын
yea the seat bleachers and color is like rated as way too important lol
@scottgorski793110 ай бұрын
FYI; an historical note that's been forgotten outside of Wisconsin. The bowl section of seating at Lambeau Field is still in the configuration of the design that was proposed and excepted when it was built as City Stadium. That design was submitted by Curley Lambeau who played college ball at Notre Dame. He basically copied the design of Notre Dame stadium. That stadium was designed by Knute Rockne to give fans a great view of the field from any seat. Built only to watch football, not for multi use. It'll never host a superbowl, but if you want season tickets put your kids name on the list if you're over 40.

I get that Lambeau is iconic but objectively it can’t be the best stadium in the NFL. It literally don’t even have seats. They still use cold metal benches in 2023. That notches it down atleast a couple spots

I think NRG should get more points for having the Metrorail that takes you there and shuttle busses during rodeo week. It makes getting there very easy. I've been to AT&T Stadium and getting in and out sucks. Same goes for StateFarm, Sofi, Alligiant Stadium and even Hard Rock Stadium.
@DebraJean1968 ай бұрын
Mass transit access should be a must for any new stadium. All those cars just makes for a mess - long transit times, expensive travel fuel costs, stressful driving, etc. I ride express busses in KC and Chicago - much more peaceful and cheaper!

I think you're thinking of the Cowboys old stadium with their roof hole in place of the NRG. A quick google image search tells me the roof of NRG opens up all the way. Sure it's not directly open over the seats but I don't in any way think its a bad thing. More shade for fans when the roof is open.

13th for Lumen Field is a crime. I went to a game in the middle of one of the largest blizzards in Seattle history and I still had a world class stadium experience. It’s true that most of that has to do with the fan environment, it’s what puts it over more modern stadiums that suck like Levi’s or have a stale environment like SoFi The fact that a stadium 100,000 miles away from the city they actually play in with no shade whatsoever from the hot California sun unless your a rich tech guy that don’t have fans who show up when their team is trash is ranked higher than a downtown stadium with unique seating, the second loudest crowd, and decent shade should be a sin Go Hawks
@einundsiebenziger54887 ай бұрын
... unless you're* a rich tech guy ... Also, Lumen is still the loudest stadium, because Arrowhead's is an artificial record - they asked the crowd to be particularly loud for a staged world record event. Lumen, then Century Link, Field's previous record was a natural one, people were just loud for the fun of it.

You should really include amenities in the stadium with rankings. What's the concourse like? Is it easy to move around? Is it open so you can see the field if you're getting food or going to that bathroom? How many bathrooms, concessions? Will you be waiting in line? Also don't get what you'd like out of a upper deck... Big upper deck means less sections, means you're closer to field. Sofi's upper deck looks like you'd be a mile away from the field. Cool tech, it's modern. But looks horrible to watch a game unless you're dropping $300+ for a ticket.
