Hello Dylan ! Great subject bro ! I also have a few counterfeits. Just like you , I have them as substitute until an official release is available. There’s no shame in that. I’m not keeping money from the bands or record companies. They’re keeping albums from me. Play something loud and have a cold one. Cheers !

I just bought a Nirvana lot and Nevermind was a pink vinyl and I quickly realized it was an unofficial "counterfeit from Europe. A little bummed but the other 3 were legit and I only paid $50

Great video. I'm right there with ya. I have a handful of counterfeit pressings as well. And it's for the same reasons as that they're out of print and expensive as hell on the used market, or have never existed on vinyl at all. Either way, it's from a collector's standpoint, and I have to have these few titles in my collection. Quality is a mixed bag. Some have ended up being horrible, sounding like they're recorded from compressed MP3 files. A few have been pleasant surprises, and actually sound really good. I'm a huge KISS guy as well, and my copy of Sonic Boom sounds pretty damn good for being a fake. I'm also in agreement that when they get officially released, I'll replace them for sure.

Great video! A friend of mine has a conspiracy theory that Glenn Danzig is actually behind the unofficial Danzig (Def American era) albums and Samhain catalog. Seems believable.

Some dealers refer to counterfeits as repressings 🙄

Counterfeit of Sonic Boom sounds better than the official. I got both so if you find an official one try to compare the sound first before you get rid of it

That’s the verdict I’ve heard. Hopefully a potential remaster will fix some of those issues

Pixelated covers don't always mean "counterfeit".. Hell I've seen legit albums with super pixelated art, ie. The latest pressing of A Perfect Circle - Mer De Noms, it looks absolutely _horrible!_ Made in Poland.. It's really bad! I have quite a few bootlegs and some of their art looks better than this thing. 😅 I dig bootlegs of certain things.. They serve their purpose - a cheaper copy of something to tide you over until you get a legit copy, or better yet, a vinyl copy of an album that doesn't even exist on vinyl yet (ie. Staind - Break The Cycle, Coal Chamber s/t, etc). Gotta be careful out there though and always do your homework. 👍
