David Draiman...a voice to die for. A powerful yet soulful voice that can go from warm baritone to angelic tenor, from clear as a crystal to vocal fry/distortion and back on a dime. He has a timbre in his voice that I've never heard before.....just hauntingly beautiful tonal properties to it! An awesome talent. Got chills again!

I hate when people quote incorrectly what Paul Simon said about their performance. Their (Paul and David's) entire conversation is freely available everywhere and no, he never said that this was the best version he had ever heard. @@BeboRulz Yes, I have read the articles and seen the interviews. The one Paul and David are going to care about the most is the one they put up on both their websites, which is the one I quoted here. There’s a live version on The Conan O’Brien Show that will almost certainly get blocked. However, almost everyone in these comments will agree that you owe it to yourself and Disturbed alike to watch that performance on your own time. The original songwriters enjoyed the Distrubed version so much that they came out and basically said “We wrote this song and sang it ourselves, but apparently we wrote it for you. This is your song now.”

This is one of the songs (especially this version) that I love seeing people react to. It seems to always be people who either know nothing about the band Disturbed nor this sing (which is originally by Simon & Garfunkel); or people who at least have some familiarity with Disturbed's USUAL style and are totally shocked that they can even do something like this. And you are WONDERFULLY expressive, which was delightful to see. :) All through I was like "Dude, if you're reacting like that now, just wait until the next part, and the next, and the next."

This song was written in the dark in a bathroom on the floor two weeks after the death of John F Kennedy by Paul Simon sung by Simon and Garfunkel. The people at that time were angry with them because they felt like they were being preached at. And in my opinion they were. This version by David Draimin a former cantor in a jewish tabernacle. If you didn’t translate the meanings of the song go back and listen again because David a member of disturbed knew what he was singing. I gre up in evangelical churches and David sounded like a Pentecostal preacher preaching. Simon and Garfunkel sang the song as a folk song of the 60’s. But that’s not what it is here. Find your interpretation for yourself.

I was a huge fan S&G growing up. But this song I always skipped. Why don't you write me. Baby driver. Cecilia. So many great hits. Only living boy in New York. Crazy stuff for the sixties. But that's what made to radio. The real music was hidden. The underground. Like the Monks. Drugs in my pocket. Bad Habits. Or. T Rex Mark Boland. Bang a gong. And many more. Steeping Wolf. On the wings of a snow white angel. Pusher man. Don't bogart that joint my friend. Only so so much was accepted for public hearing. Then came the twisted sisters lol.

The lead singer, David Draiman was a Jewish Hazzan (trained in the vocal arts who helps lead the congregation in songful prayer-Wikipedia). So he really had this smooth voice all along, but never used it, despite it being easier to use than his usual grit voice which he is known for and says it's harder to do You should check out some latter audioslave, soundgardern and temple of the dog, and some of chris cornell''s other tracks. He has incredible range, from high, powerful grunge (enough to blow out three microphones during a recording session), to a mid-low smooth vocals. His cover of "nothing compares to you" is superb, has amazing vocals. Also his final song before he committed suicide, found unfinished in his private collection "when bad does good" really shows off his medium range power at the beginning

The Blacklist TV show used this song to great effect on an episode. So ... emotional.

This is what you get when Urkel does a video review. Statements like "he can actually sing" are really insightful. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

The original came out in the 60s. Written and sang by Simon and Garfunkel. Look for the video.

David Draiman, is a Pastor's son. I recommend you check out some other Disturbed songs.. The other group, I would recommend, is Home Free.. an Acapella group.

The first version was a warning, this one is the anger of a warning ignored...

So, no matter how young you are there is a goodness in this song. It's heart warming and has a lot of emotions to be release, young and old. ,

with simon and garfunkles version it was very much interpreted as a warning. this version most people will say it's the anger at not heeding the warning. both are very good in their own right

Art Garfunkel wrote it. Darkness is what he called a friend of his after the friend went blind. There are all sorts of references to Garfunkel 's friend. You owe it to yourself to also listen to the original by Simon and Garfunkel. I like both this one and the original.

My favorite version of one of my favorite songs. I wish Disturbed did more covers like this. Don't care much for their other stuff.
