@@DGKallday0609 Ok but in most groups like this one or two are the ones doing most of the work. Take Bad Company for instance, it was four people but it was Fresh and D-Bridge doing most of the work.

The sidechain having this long release suffocates the main melody and my ears can't unhear it, sounds too choppy to me this way sorry

Exacty. If we could listen to this amazing melody but it's not loud enough ! Average soundsystems might make the melody in the mids impossible to hear.

@@frsr416 Sidechain is an effect on one sound that is triggered by the level of another sound. In drum and bass, since there are a lot of elements in a track, it's often used to allow some sounds to be listenable by reducing the volume of another sound. In the present case, the melody on top of the bassline is barely noticeable, probably for this reason, but can also be the artists' choice.

@@Sqlut To be fair, veteran producers know when sidechain is needed. Sometimes you're forced to choose between two parts of the track that share parts of the frequency spectrum. If it's a choice between melody and bass, you will always make room for the bass. If your bass is muddy, you'll most likely end up disliking the whole song.
