With offbeat humor and unflinching honesty, Married... paints a more realistic picture of middle-class existence, warts and all. Al Bundy (Ed O'Neill) is a shoe salesman who is fond of frequently reliving his doubtful 15 seconds of fame on the football field. Al is terrified of the all-too-frequent amorous advances of his ditsy wife Peggy (Katey Sagal), who spends most of Al's wages at the salon and the mall. They have two teenage kids: stunning but superficial party animal Kelly (Christina Applegate) and egocentric Bud (David Faustino). Married for 16 semi-blissful years, Peggy and Al have found that the secret to a happy marriage is to accept one another's idiosyncrasies.

People always putting down Al. He kept his family housed in their own home. Kept them fed. Came home every night, never cheated on his wife, was always there for his kids, wasn't a drug addict. always had a job, kept his family out of the system, never beat his wife or kids, never went to jail. How many people who put him down can say that about their own life?

@@eyetech08 Being arrested and held in a cell while waiting for bail to be posted is not jail. Jail would be county and prison state. Some do end up in county awaiting bail but Al never made it past police lockup.

@k_e3735 😅 My Dad was a complicated Pieces, from the Depression Era . Didn't get much Education himself,, but he managed to get back in school. Brushed up on math. A young man From Wisconsin with suffering and Prosperous dreams. Being a dad and provider was difficult especially during the 60s.

I don't know why Ed and amanda didn't get along, because they had an amazing chemistry on screen. I love how Amanda is almost cracking up so many times at Al's insults or other scenes, like that one at the bar.
