Nick Lachey is an underrated artist. He took the pain of his divorce and used it to write very powerful songs. That is the mark of a great songwriter,

All the songs he released in 2006 like "What's Left of Me" and "I Can't Hate You Anymore" prove that he was so head-over-heels in love with Jessica that the break-up REALLY negatively affected him. He'll always love her.

Now that Jessica's book is out, we know that this is untrue. He wrote and recorded these songs before she told him she wanted a divorce. He was also doing another reality show at the time showing him recording his new music but she did not want to be part of it.

Notice how in the beginning he's in the dark. There are clouds. But towards the end you see the sun and nick is smiling like he's finally happy. He was saying goodbye to the past and being happy again. He was moving on here. He found true love with his wife Vanessa. The song and video is so beautiful. How he was in the darkness and at the end he was in the light. The DAWN!! Wow.

@@Ultimate_Lyfe Wow, it's been 3 years since your reply and I'm just now getting the notifications for this post 😂. To answer your question -- I lost contact with that person for a year back then, reconnected, and ended up falling back in love, dating him on/off for a couple of years and it was the most toxic relationship and he ended up almost leaving me for somebody else. Altogether it took me 10 years to get over him. Now it's 2021 and we're actually very close friends still and even work together. Can be pretty toxic to each other at times but that's only because I finally fell out of love with him and when I did, that's when he had fallen in love with me. But by then it was too late and I didn't want to be with him. This song was definitely helpful to heal some of the pain he had caused through the years which was the original reason I had commented on the post 💙💜

I see comments about this song being for Jessica. All the songs on this album came from that time. You can hear the pain in his heart on all of them. I was never a huge fan of his, but this album really hit home with me as I was going thru the same thing at the time it came out. It seemed at the time he had a window into my life and was writing songs saying everything I wanted to. To this day I can't stand Jessica Simpson. Just the sight of her brings back my own pain. Might not be right or fair but is what it is. I associate her with pain.

For the first time, I heard this album from beginning to end on Spotify while at work and it is amazing! I think it took a while for me to listen to it because honestly their break up was absolutely heartbreaking even though I didn't know them when I saw his documentary and those two songs, I just was not ready for them to be over - now I finally realize they were not right for each other and she had to grow up and find her way - they definitely married too soon

@angelina angel the "hoe" said he taught her how to love and that she'd always hold a place in her heart for him and their once upon a time marriage. But she also said she felt to blame for hurting him and causing him the pain he portrayed in this album. But that it hurt her that he basically admitted in this particular song that he Infact did hate her at one point.... Anyways... She's not a hoe. She really loved him once.... That's why we all came here tho. Smh

I think we all can relate to this song. No matter how much you want to hate your ex for dumping you or hurting you, you can't go on hating them forever. I got out of a relationship with my ex about a month ago, and I hated him so much for it, but now I realize I never really hated him, I only hated what he did.
