I like so much Hebrew culture! This melody reminds me of andalusia music played in the west of algeria, my country. God bless you Ofra.

Forget politics and all that crap . . . this was one of the most amazing voices of the second half of the 20th century. And she shone light on a musical tradition that very few people knew about. I haven't a clue what she is singing about, and it doesn't matter. Amazing. I could have done without all the dancing, though. . .

@TheEyesOfOfraHaza THAT would be a blessing beyond imagination.....................

this song is actually in Aramaic, not Hebrew. Here is a short translation: Rock of my existence, You are the object of my desire And of all that I have, You are my claim to Holiness. Rock of my existence, You are the object of my desire And of all that I have, You are my claim to Holiness. Rock of my existence, You are the object of my desire And of all that I have, You are my claim to Holiness. Rock of my existence, You are the object of my desire And of all that I have, You are my claim to Holiness. Fly, sweet dove, and hearken my voice, On the violin, play. And in Your song, beware, Soar swiftly Do not meander into paths where evil may hide. Take sustenance and fly And we will take our pleasure Until we are sated. And we will drink of springs of wisdom, And we will sing to the sound of the harp, And You will give song. Pray tell, wondrous innocent, Tell of the joy in Your naivety. Wise Daughter of Angels, Have you found Your home? Answer, lovely dove, I sally forth to the Palace And in the heart of the vessel And clothes, only, in Your beauty. Permission has really been given, Regards to You in your crowning. Do not be swayed by cloaked enemies, Lass, And though You reach a frontier, Look for its border.

Faith Faithfulness it is Hebrew with duble/triple minings -. for example the first two words:: "tsur mnati"= "tsur"- word trong and special strong rock and the name of God. "mnati"- the thing that given to me/the part that I dezerve/my destiny. every mining of the first word fit and could be with every mining of the second word. the song is 3000 years old it is religiose song almost pray. "hageveret shabtay chzeki" = "hageveret" =the Lady &or hollyspirit. "shabtay" = my Satrdays (the jews holly rest day-shabat) &or my holydays &or my stops for resting from tired. "chazeki" = make them strong/make me strong/give me power. the people live in exile betweem enemy that they had history of pogroms. "sei yona veshimei li". "sei yona"=fly pigion &or wake up my love -his wife/his community- (the writer was leader of his people). "veshimei li"= and leasten to me&or listen to the massege I have you to deliver for me (at the old time people sant letters -(to his nation) - by pigions) they (after 3000 years) were craving & longing to come Home(to Israel). "bechinor nageni oufitsch zameri roni beshir hitboneni"= play a vaiolin & begen sing with joy but exem carfuly the what I want to say - the writer sher with his wife/pigion his happy dreams but ask her to look minings between the lines. "oumahari ve-al tifni lderech soteni" = please hurry up(to fly/ arrive & please don't turn into enemy area). take food & we will fly and we'll have gentle pleasant when eating and drinking springs/riverse of wisdom/sights & we'll play a harp (since the exile the yemen jews vowed never to tuch any music instrument in exile until they back to Israel) . and so on and on.......... it is not a simple song. it is full inocent hupes fillings & minings.

This is a Kabbalistic devotional poem set to music, as are all the songs on this album. The beginning means something along the lines of "Rock of my existence and object of my desire, my strength and my support, rock of my existence." Obviously that's not the whole thing, but it's a start.

Song lyrics performed here are Hebrew lyrics, not Aramaic at all. Take it from Yemenite Jew that learned both languages, Ofra pronounce Hebrew words with Yemenite accent It's Hebrew dated to 8th century and before.
