For Great Plains Native Americans, Buffalo have meant everything. But in the late 1800s, US government hunted the buffalo almost to the extinction to primarily weaken the North American Natives. In this video, Oglala Lakota women talk about their connection to the buffalo today.

As a Oglala Lakota man I have the utmost respect for our women It is sickening to see men of all races and women make comments such as they have. No shame in what they say or how they act, our women and the buffalo are beautiful and tunkasilas (gods) for all you non natives, gift to earth. And personally as a Lakota man I know none of you men who gawk at our women would stand face to face with me and survive. All these women are beautiful and strong to me such as out way of life. Ignorance is prevalent in all colors of man and I pray for you all and hope the people who have disrespected these beautiful women never meet one of them face to face. I respect all those with good things to say and to those who don't we are still here you didn't kill us all and we will survive and live as we are meant to.

I am black, but I love the heck out of Native Americans and their culture. I have visited Oglala reservation and Crazy Horse monument in South Dakota, the Pima Indian reservation in AZ etc. When ever I travel to any state, I also ensure to visit these wonderful people. I only wish they would come out more.

I have had many vivid dreams about being with native Americans and they have all been deep and meaningful. I felt great empathy for your people for it reminds me being a white person of my enslavement too. When ever I watch the film Dances With Wolves which is so beautiful, it holds the key of a reminder that our world is so far from free and it is our responsibility together, to free ourselves through mass persuasion and unity. Namaste.

I'm a European descendent and I love the Lakota and Ojibwe culture and wisdom, strength and knowledge. You're tuned to nature and connection to the earth as well as aware of the spirit realm even though it's different to my upbringing I respect that. As with other atheists and people living in first world countries don't always understand this as we do from different ends of earth. Regards from South Africa

I am Cherokee Indian. It hurts and angers me the way the government treats native Americans. What the government is doing to native Americans and this land must stop.

Thank you for filming this video. I am not an apologist but I am ashamed of how all Native Tribes have been mistreated by all nations. Your heritage was destroyed, your land stolen and your Nations separated... I pray Blessings and Peace to All Nations of this once Great Land.

The Lakota women are beautiful. Some women in my family look quite a bit like them and we all are from Central Europe. We also have buffalo roaming our forests. They are the largest buffalo herds outside of North America.
