Yup. Paul was capable of running up and down the scales like an athlete in training for something. Sometimes I’ll listen to him do this and think, “Stop it Paul!! You’re going to shred your voice!” But he don’t stop! And let’s not overlook Johnny boy who had his own formidable talents. But Paul could go higher and hold the high notes. However there’s no replacing that Lennon voice...
@jackmcdouglas41268 жыл бұрын
Possibly John would have done a good job on this tune if he'd been given the chance but it wouldn't never been up to what Paul did. Paul's range was way broader than John's. On top of that Paul's voice is much more beautiful and colorful, John himself had admited to it.
@olliehoodie41318 жыл бұрын
This song was written about Paul's thoughts on John leaving the band so it's kinda fitting that Paul should sing it
@MrBradymoss8 жыл бұрын
+Jack McDouglas In fact what source are you citing that John admitted his voice was not as beautiful and colorful than Paul's?
@jackmcdouglas41268 жыл бұрын
There are many sources, Including one of his interviews to Playboy's in the 70's. Another one is George Martin who said that John was always complaining that he didn't like his voice and he wanted to sound like Paul asking George to use microphone gimmics to make his voice sounds better. George was flabbergast because he didn't think that way. Mick Jagger also said a few times that he wanted to sound like Macca.

+Dogmatil Utter nonsense! Ridiculous. You know not of what you speak. Lennon was every bit in McCartney's league as a vocalist (in a different way), and he was anything but insecure about his songwriting. Where did you get that from? Remember, he and Paul started out writing together. They bounced ideas off each other, came up with something when the other was stuck for a lyric, or a middle eight, or whatever. Also, never have I heard, or read anything where George Martin claimed that Lennon asked to have his voice sound like McCartney. Absurd. I will agree that John like to use studio effects to make his voice sound different, not better, but that was part of the creative process that the group was getting into as they progressed. As for Jagger, the Stones somehow did rather well for having a singer with a bad voice. He was unique, incomparable, and his style was right for the Stones. They wouldn't have been what they were if the singer sounded like McCartney lol.

2:28 Paul's highest note that ever has reach, A6!
@mrs.featherbottom59017 жыл бұрын
Hector Cheivz I too was into that sort of stuff before. In fact, the one video about "Paul McCartney's vocal range" is mine, from many years ago. But I've come to realize, that it isn't very interesting to pin point the very highest note that someone can produce with their throat. It sort of becomes a more anatomical question than a musical one. and I'm not in any way trying to be rude to you here, your comment just got me thinking! Yes, he reaches that A6, but it's *not* controlled. He does however reach very high notes frequently. I've come to find it much more interesting to go through Beatles tunes with my guitar, and find out where he was *comfortable* with his voice. In the early days, it was easily A4 and Bb4, which is amazingly high. He also had this completely wonderful timbre, in songs like yesterday and for no one, and later on Stuff like Junk. Later in the Sixties he developed these crazy falsetto skills, like in Every Night and maybe I'm amazed from his first solo album. Amazing drills and stuff! I've tried to pinpoint when he started to lose his godlike voice, but it's a depressing question really.
@hectorcheivz41137 жыл бұрын
i'm only said that this was his highest note, i know that a vocal range isn't all in the quality of a musician, yeah Mccartney have great highs, but i don't think that your mentions (A4 Bb4) are intersting, he reachs notes one octave above, for example Bb5 in can't buy me love or C6 in London 2012, but a A4 anyone in falsetto can reach this note
@rome81802 жыл бұрын
That's an A5, not an A6. I wish people wouldn't spread misinformation.
@rome81802 жыл бұрын
In case you don't believe me, check out this video of singers singing an A5. An A5 is extremely high for a male. Does Paul's note sound an octave higher? The highest note in Phantom of the Opera for the FEMALE part is an E6. Paul is NOT singing five semitones higher than that. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fquclruhlt2pm5s.html

John Lennon could never have reached the high notes on "Oh Darling" in the key it's played. John couldn't sing confortably above an A-Bb above middle C. McCartney reached a full octave above middle C, possibly more. Listen to 2:18. That's a C sharp, full voice.
