You should have installed a inline shut off on EACH side of your filter while you had it drained. Being able to not have to drain your tank when you have to change your fuel filter in the future, and bleed the system every time is priceless. Been plenty of times in the winter that those filters have had to be changed.

it is so good you found that bad fuel leak, you do not want any chemicals to contaminate the soil. especially over $5 a gallon for diesel fuel. I hope that it is in stock to replacement the bad one. yes screw clamps are so much better then the spring clamps. and less fighting with them when it is cold outside. plus you can use a nut driver to loosen them without worrying that the players slipping off.

Someone probably over tightened the filter bowl on there and rolled the O ring, when you service it be sure to look up in the housing to be sure the O ring is not stuck up in there. When you put a new filter in just run the bowl up until it contacts the housing and HAND tighten it up by turning it another 1/2 to 3/4 turn any tighter and you'll roll the O ring. Do NOT put an in line filter in that fuel line you will restrict the fuel flow and the diesel is what lubricates the top of the engine. The location of that filter housing is about the craziest location I have ever seen on one. That is going to give you problems in the future.

What would we do without Google. It also helps to know about machines n their engines. It’s really strange that it did leak. Maybe from the cold the plastic shrunk some n then expanded. Who knows. The good thing is you fixed it Robert n a fine job you did. Hope all goes well for the rest of your day n no more of anything breaking. ♥️😊👍🐶🌟

I saw a video of changing the fuel cartridge. It said to never use any kind of spray solvent in the plastic fuel bowl, as this causes shrinkage on both the bowl and the O-ring. Use only water and dishwasher soap. Of course I seen the video after I changed my filter and used brake cleaning spray to wash out the bowl.

well Robert, one video turned into another but very happy that you addressed the leak and that is not nothing too major and was fixable, and the Orange Kubota is back to running again. Just have to watch that filter housing so that it doesn't leak, but think would be a good idea to buy one or two as spares, just in case it happens again you will have the part on hand for it. Wondering if the Kubota would fit in that smoke house shed?? the one with the three side on it?? won't be completely out of the weather but thinking a good place for it?? Just a thought.. Great video. Job well done..!

I just started watching. I've never seen blue Diesel fuel. I hope you aren't paying full price for Diesel. At the golf course we always bought off-road Diesel, which has no road taxes on it. They dye it red so you know that you have it. But maybe that's only a New Jersey thing? I don't know. Our Kubota at the golf courses was an L2850. I could be wrong, but I thought it had a metal spin-on fuel filter. I don't remember for sure though. You might want to invest in a pair of the special vice-grips that are made for clamping hoses like that. They seal the hose tight, and can't damage it the way regular vice-grips can. They are worth getting. They are easy to get through your local NAPA store, or probably other auto parts stores. That said, I'm surprised there's no shut-off on the bottom of your tank. But maybe there is. Good that it just needed to be tightened. Hopefully that solved it.
