Joshua always wanted Wilder. He'll definitely fight him next if Deontay can score the upset. We've seen Zhang get outboxed twice in recent history, but he's a significant favorite over the American. The 4 major boxing orgs are giving Wilder little respect in the rankings. Zhang fought a competitive fight vs Parker and landed some great shots. Both Zhang and Wilder will be stressing cardio. Zhang knows he didn't drive the pace vs Parker. He was lazy. He's unhappy with his effort. I expect him to get after it like crazy for this fight. Deontay? He's failed to deliver in several critical fights. What can change? He needs to add some muscle to that skinny frame. Parker knocked him around like a cruiserweight. He needs the muscular heft he carried for Fury III, he was ahead after 6. He needs the cardio he had for Stiverne 1, where he threw 621 punches. He threw a listless 204 vs Parker -- or 17 a round. He was sleepwalking.

Wilder is not perceived the way he used to be, which is a hurdle and can only be cleared if he can beat Zhang. Zhang is a big, strong heavyweight , not the best fighter in the heavyweight division or the most versatile, but Deontay Wilder has done little or nothing since his loss(es) to Tyson Fury to boost even his own fans confidence that he is a promisiing heavyweight with viable options anymore.

I don't understand how Wilder can be expcted to fight Anderson after Zhang. The Zhang fight is June 1st, the Anderson fight would be 9 weeks after that; for context, a lot of camps run anywhere from 8-10 weeks. Even if we say Wilder has a modest recovery period after Zhang to recover (1-2 weeks) - and it could require longer if there's an injury, cut or tough fight - that means he'd be taking a very, very short camp to fight Anderson. The June 1st date for Wilder lines up perfectly to have a September fight instead, and we want to see AJ v Wilder before Wilder retires, something that's more than likely less than a handful of fights away.

Wilder has to beat ZZ before he fights AJ. ZZ is at least a 60% chance of beating Wilder and has to still be regarded as the favorite. While Wilder will not be rusty for ZZ, ZZ is not tailor-made for Wilder. In fact, Wilder's style is tailor-made for ZZ! Wilder is not known for lateral movement nor his he known for constantly moving his head and body. That plays to ZZ's hands. Without that ZZ will not be drained of his physical and nervous energy.

Shiek is smart 4 this, Wilder fights Zhang an then in Aug fights Anderson, he beats both, the Joshua fight can be made, Fury an Usyk could potentially be tied up for 3 fights, and this is Tyson!! These 2 fights will take up this year, and next year, Fury may want a tune up in between, so Joshua will be waiting in the wings for at least 2 years, and Nov Joshua fighting setting up a clash between Joshua vs Wilder in Feb 2025 or a little later

June 1st to Aug 3rd. That's like an 8-week turnaround for an 38 year old Wilder. That's a very ambitious schedule. I would much rather see Joshua vs. Wilder in September.

My thoughts exactly. 9 weeks to the day, and that just sounds like too much too soon for a 38 year old with known injuries (previous hand fractures, complained about his knee/leg after Fury 2 indicating wear and tear there as well) going into arguably the toughest fight of his career where he's liable to get hurt and need a fair bit of recovery time after. Frankly, even if Wilder loses I'd want to see him vs AJ (providing that he puts on a good performance) in September simply because I feel like Wilder's only got 3-4 fights left in him.

I don't see it as cashing out. Win or lose to Zang, Wilder still needs to stay active until after the undisputed rematch. AJ will be held up by the IBF title campaign until the winner of Fury Usyk is done. By then, Wilder and Parker could be in the running to fight AJ after Fury.

Wait what? AJ is fighting for the HW IBF title at Wembley from what has been mentioned if whoever becomes Undisputed is stripped after rematch clause is activated. So thats either Hrgovich or Dubois then his next fight will be for Undisputed. Where does Wilder who has Zhang problems fit into this narrative? Sounds like a load of garbage.

The Saudi's are keeping their options open. They are paying bucket loads to get undisputed. It would be reasonable to assume they want the rematch to be for undisputed as well. Which would mean if Usyk wins or if it's a draw that would allow Fury v AJ in September with IBF champ Usyk taking care of his mandatory Hrgovic. In the unlikely event Fury wins then we get AJ v Wilder
