One of the greatest Zoro moments for me is when Usopp tries to return to the crew. He establishes two things to both the audience and the crew: he’s absolutely the first mate and that this is no longer a kid’s game. His sense of direction may not be the best, but he was the first to return to Sabaody. How cool he is, his loyalty to Luffy and the crew, and his determination to be the world's best swordsman is what makes him so lovable. He may not be deep, but there's a lot to him 🔥

Lol franky is literally the best shipwright in water 7 not one of the best . You could argue he’s the best in the world currently since his mentor TOM previously held that title . And Sanji is the 2nd best chef in the east blue easily. what happened in the manga to suggest he’s near surpassing zeff

Zoro's character is a bit deeper than people realise. On the surface he seems like the typical dumb but strong anime guy who just wants to fight stuff (he isn't really dumb, he can be observant and quick on his feet but thats a whole different thing) but there's actually psychology behind it. Zoro is afraid of failure, theres a great video called zoro and the anxiety of strength by melonteee that breaks down his character

He’s pretty dumb generally tbh just like luffy but he has wisdom . I think oda said Zoro is just slightly more intelligent than luffy and Sanji is twice as intelligent but physically weaker than both Zoro and luffy who were ranked by oda to be a 6 on a number scale while Sanji is a 5 in terms of strength

@@pooloutdaboot yeahhh that's the way to describe it, wisdom. He lacks when it comes to book smarts and stuff like that but he notices things and can connect the dots well. Sanji is like that but with added book smarts and cranked up to 11, he's a tactical genius for example (SPOILERS FOR WATER 7 AND ZOU) going for the bridge lever at enies lobby, realising what happened to Robin in water 7 or being able to save nami/brook/chopper when they got kidnapped by capone bege by using reasoning to figure out they can't kill him because they wanted him alive

I only just realized Zoro's introduction kinda mirrors the end of Oden's tale in retrospect; He honorably stood an oppressing force to defend innocents from said oppressor, was punished with the promise of said innocents being left alone, and the antagonist in the situation never intended to uphold their promise to him to begin with. The end being the main difference with it being ones end and the others introduction to the overall tale. I may just be wildly behind the curve on noticing symbolism but I still thought thats kinda dope

Honestly I’d like to believe that Kuina’s death was because she tried to take possession of a cursed sword present in her family as an attempt to get stronger; however, when the sword tested her, she failed, which led to her death. The circumstances behind her death were so strange (and depending on the sword’s influence, self inflicted) that it was ultimately ruled to be a suicide.

My best friend killed himself early this year. We were both really into One Piece and talked about it all the time. He once told me that if I was a character from One Piece I would be Zoro. He really left me speechless with that but I was honored. Now I continue with One Piece and think about him often. Thanks for all the great videos Ohara!

I've heard someone say that Zoro has a fear of being too weak. And that after every close fight, he trains despite being injured and in pain, because in his mind, his pain is his attonment for his weakness. He fears being too weak to help his crewmates. Which is also why he snapped at Luffy on punk hazzard. This was more directed towards himself, for not being able to safe his captain. Hence why Luffy laughs and Sanji says "He's so tough on himself"

My favourite character in One piece by far, the discrepancy between his apparent characteristics (just an empty character who is simply incredibly strong and that's it, something of a Kenpachi) and his actual characteristics (the strongest sense of loyalty ever seen, the power to push through everything and never give up, the way he trains his body and mind, his incredible skill in everything he does, besides walking around😅) is absolutely insane

I do think the aspect of him getting lost all the time is also quite important to his character. The flip side to his discipline is probably that he is a perfectionist to a fault. And it's in those moments where he tries to convince others that he knows where he's going, while it isn't the case, that he feels more humane and relatable. It shows that while he is unwavering in most situations. He has a stubborn and hotheaded side to him, that is uncomfortable with being uncertain. He decides he has to trust his gut every time in situations like that (or makes a challenge out of it). Believing that his gut is always right, even when presented with conflicting information. Therefore he has trouble letting others steer him from his convictions, and shifts blame whenever he's called out. I feel like he really wants to be steadfast and reliable to the rest of the crew.

he goes down his path no matter what, he has clear boundarys and goals. hes kinda simple but also complex/deeper as it seems at first. his style is cool , his fights are epic and for me hes like the dark king :D in young.

Zoro to me just screams “Best support character ever” everything about his character design and personality is just a perfect fit for his position on the crew. He also kinda gives me a “Responsible older brother” vibe as a member on the crew.

You are right before reading one piece and has a long Naruto fan, even though I had my issues with Sasuke I still thought that him and Naruto were arguably the best duo in shonen ever. That was until I read the whole one piece manga recently especially the wano arc, honestly Zoro really makes it hard for me to choose who is my favorite between him and luffy.

Roronoa Zoro is a strong human being with unbelievable monster strength within him. His fights against Mr. 1, Ryuma and King are legendary. He's being close to death so many times that is a miracle. AND, he used Conqueror's Haki to inflict damage to Kaido.

I feel like it has something to do with the void century and Ryuma and everything will be explained in that back story. Just feels like a lost opportunity for someone like Oda so I definitely feel like he has something better planned for the long run, always seemed like Luffy & Zoro's relationship has more to it than meets the eye. Like Roger said to Rayleigh it was fate that they met.

I think one of the most significant differences between Zoro and every other basic badass ccharacter is his defeat my Mihawk. Zoro was _levelled._ This gives _us_ a quite significant look into his character and allows Oda to build more on... well, his character beyond being strong. I don't know if I'm just closing my eyes to it or haven't consumed enough media, but my impression is that other characters that's based on being badass, if they're ever defeated, that's when they die. Like, it's always do or die. Literally. Zoro did have this attitude also, but because he wasn't actually killed, we get to see that growth instead of just, well, nothing XD

The point at the end of the video about Zoro representing an ideal is why he’s my fav in One Piece. His stoic demeanor, loyalty & discipline are 3 aspects I hold in the highest regard of his character. They are sublet & maybe in post timeskip the story focus on him isn’t as great as maybe other straw hats but the subtly to his character is something I love deep diving into. Pre timeskip zoro tho is easily one of my fav characters across all anime/manga.

My favourite moment from Zoro is from Mock Town, there it also has my favourite moment of Luffy. But overall I'm a Sanji fan more than Zoro, because lets be honest it's hard not to love Sanji when he would literally let any woman in the world kill him even with him knowing full well that his strong enough beat someone of their strength, like even Makino could beat Sanji even though she's just a regular girl. But funnily enough my favourite moment from Sanji is the only time in a fight he didn't kick, honestly I was hoping of more of that kind of fighting to happen during the fight with the Big Mom crew.

what in imus blue earth is everyones apprehension with just calling Zoro Luffy's first mate? not only has he been recognized as his right hand officially, not only has he shown that when in the absence of Luffy (or even when Luffy isn't of sound mind) that he is the one who is next in line in terms of authority, not only is he clearly the second strongest and the only other straw hat to have conqueror's haki (just many of the other top tier conqueror captains have) but he is literally Luffy's FIRST MATE like first crewmate it can't be more obvious....can we please stop tiptoeing around it. 1st mate is literally 1st friend & is always the 1st to join any captain. It never needs be stated bc its evident as the crew grows. There's still pirates in our world n thats an unspoken rule among most, if not all maritime travelers/sailors

Help me remember he gave up on his dream to safs luffy against kuma and he broke his code of bushido and prostrated himself in front of his rival to gain the strength his captain needs. (Okay this goal was also his but the way he went about it was out of character.) But has ever done things like that for his crewmates or just his captain?

Manu, I wanna say thank you. Thank you for finding your roots. This Zoro video reminds me so much of ye good ol' days, when you did this calm analysis without any face reveal but great background music and I just noticed that you became more original in the last few months. I did like the actionloaded, hyperactive Ohara bringing in some spice aswell, but the reason I began to follow you, were the nearly meditative but still professionell and acurate analysis you started with and redid with this one.

I think another huge part of Zoro’s character that people often brush over is his self sacrificing nature. His need to do things alone speaks to the fact that while Zoro is more than willing to help his friends, he generally does not like to accept help, such as when he knocked Sanji out on thriller bark to save him from Kuma. Zoro’s strength is not just a goal for him, it’s a pathological need, and no matter how strong he is he can never be strong enough. He has to shoulder every burden, protect everyone. Zoro is very much defined by loss, and losing his closest friend at such a young age has made him into a man who refuses to let anyone else be taken from him. It’s both his greatest strength and his biggest flaw.

More to add is that he loose Kuina because of destiny. A natural stupid fate which put in him the need to control everything by himself and to challenge fate eveytime he can.

I believe that we will find out more about zoro because think about it. A lot of strawhats had their character arcs (like sanji had whole cake island and robin had enis lobby). Zoro didn’t. Even though he’s one of the most important strawhats.

I’m going to have to call you out on your Zoroastrianism point, Hinduism and Buddhism were derived from Vedic religions in India, while Zoroastrianism emerged separately in Iran during the philosophical era, providing an early example of a fully monotheistic religion (which skips polytheistic and henotheistic stages). The religious symbolism is a cool running theme, but Zoro’s name is probably just taken from Zorro, the pulp fiction swordsman

Zoro also represents Ogun from the Yoruba pantheon...check it out. The number 3, the color green, the swordsmanship, the quiet warrior, etc... Im sure you'll see how all the SHs are inspired by the orisa as well. Same way JoyBoy comes from the Vodun Lwa/Loa.💯
