Holtmann's entire philosophy was wrong. If you're going to model your program after Jay Wright (which is what Holtmann says he has done) then you better have the ability to rotate capable players who are in shape enough to play dogged defense (especially if you have a average or below average offense). The stagnant stand around style of half court offense when you can't consistently hit the 3 simply won't work. Couple that with the fact that they basically have one guy...one guy (Okpara) capable of getting rebounds and then Hotmann had the audacity to say..."we have to do a better job rebounding the ball"? Well when your philosophy is to play 3 guards, a tweener forward and a 5 position, then what do you expect! I was done with Holtmann last year and it's sad.

Not sure why you fire a coach with 7 games to play and Conference Tournament. But, changing the program around to actually try to succeed in the Big Ten is a good idea. Holtzman was not good at getting any GOOD players he did recruit to stick around for more than a year.

Yeah,obviously OSU = football. But, the basketball team should at least make the tournament every year.

What occurred is this: Holtman is a very good coach. We have very good players. But. The game has changed.
