Watching this video made me think if CSGO was never released maybe the Counter Strike franchise would be dead already, some people who hates the CS2 should consider as time goes most of the problem that exists rn would be fixed/improved and this new engine will at least give another 10+ year into this game.

The way you say "good old times" for CS:GO is the same way i feel about CS 1.3, 1.4 and 1.5 and playing it from net cafe's with mates when i was a kid. It's changed but it will always be good old CS no matter how you look at it. Over the years it's been the most enjoyable time of my life and i'm thankful for each and every moment.

This video was very lazily made goldec didnt include cs condition zero, the full cs go timeline or even cs 2. He instantly spoke about cs go we love today after he was done with the beta. There was a lot of interesting stuff before the current version like for example all the gun sound changes the character revamps the map updates and etc. Cs go was clunky af half of its existence like you are playing 1.6 or source but he didn't bother looking into that. Also why say that cs source is disliked when literally every og cs player loves it idk where he got the info that people disliked it.

Forgot flashlight feature in CS 1.6

You used to be able to just swap the weapon models out for whatever you wanted. You could download custom weapon models. Some enterprising cheaters would use models that had 200 foot long red barrels so you could see people coming from around the corner.

I remember playing a weird variant of CS 1.6 Online, it's essentially a Cs Nexon or at least the first variant of it. I was indulging in it, i really love "escaping the zombie" gamemode, it gave me such a rush knowing i was behind and zombies is right on my tail.

I miss CS 1.6 I've tried playing it recently but barely found any servers with players, apart from having to buy the ammo it's still my favorite version of CS to this day, I liked the quirky things like the shield, night vision or guns like the Schmidt machine pistol which was left out in CS:GO and all the classic maps are still here and playable unlike newer version of CS:GO and CS2 and even though some maps were weird they should absolutely be brought back like Siege and Survivor or Aztec and Cobblestoney the maps got so limited in CS:GO and CS2 it's just not fun having to play 10 maps over and over again... and shotguns actually worked in CS 1.6 and CS Source unlike CS:GO and CS2 because they're useless now...

cs 1.6 also had cars busses and helicopters * you can't drive them * because they have robot that drives them for you inside the system of the car ofc

I've played since 2001, played at school on counter strike 1.3. we had a room where we installed it and had only 7 computers at that time, so it was always a 3 v 4

missed that logo screen from the modded cs half life first ver we used to play it like crazy

i have so many fond memories of the beta days circa fall 2000 when i started playing and up through 1.6. had a 4 digit wonid, beta tested the steam client, ahhhh the memories. cs source was garbage though. total crap. there was all sorts of great maps and mods in the earlier versions. tanks you could load people into and drive around, the cameras, lights & other things to interact with. you could customize the menus to whatever you wanted with a text file. you could replace the skins locally and oh boy was there some crazy shit. i played with xenomorph alien models vs predator models. a trout instead of a knife where the animation was smacking people with sounds to match. was so much fun. and the community servers were the best. could find local ones with the best ping and make it your home where you get to know the other regulars. just a great time to be alive.

I started playing CS in '99 on my brothers PC (i was 10 years old then). 1.3 and 1.5 were the best versions imo, still to this day. You completely missed Condition Zero though, basically the "better looking" 1.6. It released somewhere between 1.6 and Source.

Skipped CS1.5 which was perhaps the most stable version before 1.6

Too bad he made the leap from 1.0 beta to 1.6. I understand it’s a natural jump for someone who came in to the game later. But in versions 1.1, 1.3, 1.4, 1.5 then to 1.6 is really were the game was created and started to bacome popular. There were some huge developments and changes in between those versions, that really set the competetive standard that it has today. The gameplay and competetive improvements from 1.0 to 1.6 is lamors greater than from 1.6 to cs:go. Always nice with a throwback vid tho. 👍🏼

Man, CS 1.6 was the best in my opinion. CS1.5 was even better. I feel like the Steam version changed things for me personally. I have such great memories of growing up, spending hours in PC game houses as a kid, playing CS. I really loved the mod versions of CS. But when CS Condition Zero came out, I didn't like it at all. That is until CS2 came along, and I have to say, I don't like that game either. I'd honestly rather go back and face off against hackers in CSGO than play CS2.

Although it isn’t ideal in its current state anyone who wishes for a simple continuation of CSGO instead of the new CS2 is honestly stupid and small minded, the old engine and endless useless spaghetti code of CSGO has caused it to essentially hit its peak in visual and performance, for any sort of evolution a brand new game was needed to secure its spot in the future, for upcoming players(pre/early teens) valorant was such a blaring overall better experience compared to csgo it was a no brainer for new people who had no experience in either game, now with cs2 it’s a lot more appealing to that audience, give it time cs2 in a year will be in a better spot than CSGO was last month and no one will be able to go back to CSGO as an enjoyable experience unless for per nostalgia
