its always been so weird that the topknot didn't start as iridescent when the family crest did - it feels like BHVR don't ever understand how balance is going to work in advance and honestly it's a little scary lmao

Ok, small change that will up the usage of Family Crest. Reveal survivors when you successfully hit a Demon Strike, not when you miss one. It acts as a mini Infectious Fright, and could possibly let you know if Meg with a flashlight is around the corner ready to blind you as soon as you pick up another survivor. You hit Demon Strikes all the time as Oni, and it acts like Whispers in the fact that the info is still useful even if they don't scream. Either someone screams and you have your next target, or they don't and it's safe to pick them up

On your opening lines: I think the intent on Ultra Rares is a good one - they are those add-ons that alter how you play the game. The rarity isn't exactly tied to to power level, something akin to Magic's Mythic Rares, which usually are iconic characters and moments, although them being the rarest allows for them to be powerful, and some power is to be expected. The design seems similar to Borderlands 3's approach with Cornerstone skills - you are supposed to be familiar with your character by the time you reach those, and they unlock ways to play with your character in a different way. For example your last Piggy vid - the addon removed one element of Pig play almost completely, but shifted a lot of power into stealthing and information. You could always play her stealthy, but the add-on rewards you greatly for it. I am quite new to DbD and don't know all the add-ons for all the killers, but this is a pretty nice design in my opinion if true. Basically, TL;DR: I think Ultra Rare doesn't mean most powerful, but instead opts to shift power and open new ways to play a killer. And well, seeing you do videos about exploring specific add-ons and bending your build around the add-on itself, it seems to be working.

it feels like so many ultra rares are just pointless, this one should either be buffed to 16 meters or be made a very rare

A better idea would make it similar to Myers add-on "Judith's Journal" where you get more stalk from the obsession. But for Oni you get more blood from the obsession and it would synergize with Nemesis.

25:38 New Oni nerf. Upon landing from a fall, Blood Fury instantly deactivates.

This add on being changed in one of two ways. It works on any failed attack even M1s but when out of power it has half range. Also the stream turns into a 2 second aura. It works on any power attack, hit or miss with a range of 24 but shows your aura for 1 second. Both would give it special use cases. The first one you can perk to lower your M1 CD on miss and you can attack to check behind walls or loops. It may have to be have to be the full range though but still. It would be close to Bubba's Purple Rev chain saw add on.

There's been a bug for a long time for Survivors where if you open and close the menu during the opening spin, you can crouch and click you flashlight. A similar bug works for Killers that allows them to move/act before their UI appears. It's micromanaging but fun to get a small headstart.

Rework for this add on: When activating blood furi, all Survivors in Terror Radius Scream, Revealing their Positions! As it is now IRI Crest is useless, this rework would make it unique and strong, but not really OP, i hope they change it like that, but i doubt it...

Build idea: Double hit Pyramid Head: Use both of the range add-ons For Perks, nurse's calling and discordance, as they let you know when 2 survivors are near each other. The last 2 perks can be dark devotion, tinkerer, or trail of torment to give you undetectable. Throw in a mist add-on to be harder to spot. I feel like this could be a very strong build, pyramid head is one of the few killers that can hit more than one person with his power at a time. BUT it will probably take a little bit of practice to be able to properly aim at long distances.

When you’re getting below 15 frames on console games a lot harder so I’m good without cross play

One "strategy" I thought of was using BBQ to know where People are, dashing towards the Auras with Whispers and when Whispers is active, you just spamslam the Ground until it procs. But tbh, this "strategy" seems pretty stupid and why should you ever play Oni like this?

The thing about iri crest though, is that you lose your power if you miss a demon smash (if I remember correctly) so you're litteraly losing your power for the off chance of knowing the general direction that a survivor is in for like .3 seconds (and that's if there even is a survivor around) there is basically no upside to this other than knowing if a survivor is really close by for a cheeky flashlight save. But at that point you should just be using infectious fright! The devs severely confuse me with their decision making sometimes.

The fact you saw no one was there in your area is still information enough to make it an add on of a ultra rare status

The best way to make family crest good is to completely rework the addon here’s how I would rework it -The Oni makes no noise when activating blood fury and is completely silent during it. While demon dashing gain the undetectable status effect.

I think that this addon might combo well with other tracking perks, specifically Whispers. That way, you can have the outer ring of tracking with Whispers, then an inner ring of more precise tracking with the Crest. Kind of a stretch, but eh.

I would love to see it work based off of terror radius. The fact that many people use M&A means that if you’re using it then it would likely be 24 m, which could be useful. If you want to have a bigger range, then you can’t run M&A with Infectious like usual. It would lead to an interesting dilemma with what to run to optimize missed vs hit attacks, as well as making it far more useful.

Family crest is used better as passive information. Say you run across the map to hit a guy, and miss, but there's a Jeff running discordance on that tile too, and he screams. You now know that 2/4 are on that tile with you, and can help you figure out ehere to go next.

It's kinda like Bubba's light Chassis add-on because the only time you reg your saw is when you see someone to kill.

It seems like the addons best use is to activate it just as the blood lust is about to fade. Itll be best used if you are going slug-style and you arent going to immediately pick up who you downed while effected by the power. So hit one guy, slug, 2nd guy, slug, 3rd guy, slug, and just as you are about to run out, you slam the club down to find the last guy. Thats likely the ideal way to use it. Otherwise, you use it to get to the other side of the map with the help of bbq and if your power is about to run out just slam it down, boom, you are doctor for a split second. Just a thought.

I think a good scenario is if you have whispers and you can't seem to find the person, you can slam the ground and find them

I like how he spent most of the video talking about how the add on would be good if you don’t have infectious fright unlocked but in the description of the add on it says in you miss a demon strike they scream and when you hit one they don’t scream. Therefore when you down a survivor nobody would scream at all.

I think that the point of the addon is to pair with bbq and chili, so you focus a target and then after they're down, you might not see anyone with bbq, but are they in a locker? They could be hiding near you waiting to unhook. This addon pressures them out of that gameplay. If they're hiding nearby for a save, you'll know.

Cool video. 😀 Quick thoughts: - I was thinking briefly that Unrelenting might be good to help you recover from the misses but unfortunately the Dash attack isn't a basic attack. 😔 - This add-on might work ok with Tinkerer. Tinkerer goes off, charge up your ability and dash over. Then if you don't see them or see any scratch marks you can purposely miss because they're probably hiding nearby. Same things might work for Discordance and Whispers as well, you'd just have to be careful with Whispers since its radius is larger than the range of this add-on so it's not a guaranteed ping if Whispers has just gone off, you have to get a bit closer. - Along those lines Trail of Torment or Monitor and Abuse could help you get closer to where people are before they run or hide and, again, you could slam the ground if there's no scratch marks. - Not sure if this works with lockers? If it makes people in lockers scream then it could also be used for that.

I don’t know what to do with Oni’s iris since I don’t play him (tho his other iri is kinda not fair ngl), but here’s what I’d do to some other addons from the killers I’m familiar with: Iri heads for huntress should take away 1-2 hatchets or maybe even none, but have its instadown effect restricted to hits from 24 meters or further Plague’s black incense should take away the survivors ability to cleanse, thus also preventing corrupt purge Also Plague’s iri seal should instantly give her corrupt purge after the survivor cleanses, instead of when completing a gen, and reveal the cleansed survivor for a few seconds Demo’s leprose lichen should increase the portal’s range at which it gives oblivious effect (and other addon effects like exhaustion and blindness) by 2 meters for each injured survivor and also give broken status to all injured survs in the portal’s range for 30 seconds And Demo’s red moss should give him undetectable status while channeling his M2 after holding it for at least 3 seconds, maybe also slightly reduce noise made by his footsteps (idk I always thought the moss gave undetectable because Demo has it growing on his feet)

I think that the point of the shout is to shorten loops by making them scream in the same cases that a doc would shock.

This weird ultra rare add on testing is really fun to watch, should definitely make it into a series, thumbs up from me

Looks like something for people without either BBQ or Infectious. Run it with Whispers and you should be able to flush out some stealth players from their hiding spots. Apart from that, the power level seems somewhat mediocre for an ultra rare. With high enough range it could easily allow Oni to drop a tracking perk from a build to free up a slot.

You can you the screem adon to prevent window vaults same as docs shock if you use it correctly and get the timeing

You would use this add on with discordance and tinker and bbq Bc you would go cross map and if they stealth away you can find them

Now. I know you may know this, but a Unhook Yourself gives the notification on the hook, while a rescue will make the notification on the survivor. Weird but cool fact

only thing that i can think of at the moment is using it paired with whispers but then again it could still be a 50/50 dependent on how far away in whispers the survivor is

You know what a better iridescent add on would be? Changing the club in Fury to just keep using the sword, but half the recharge time or something. Still insta smash pallets ofc

As a mid-rank Console player, I've found myself using Iridescent Crest to help in chases, like if I whiff the Demon strike because I flick my Joycon stick the wrong way, the scream at least helps me know where to turn to try and find the scratchmarks or the Survivor. But that's just my opinion.

i definitely didn't think this was meant to be used as a replacement for Infectious, I was under the impression that this was meant to be a complement to Infectious. Like, if this addon was better, you could get scream notifications whether you hit or not with your power, and that seems kinda cool. But the problem is the addon is so short range and so short lived that by the time you're done the animation, the scream notification is gone and you have no idea which direction they were in, other than a very vague sense. It needs to maybe not MATCH Infectious, but at least be closer to it so you can use them together and basically know where everyone is in Blood Fury so you feel super powerful.

So oni has an ultra rare add on, that can only be used in his power, that wastes his time because he can barely even look around to see the scream unless the person is in front of him, (which he should know if he's in blood fury) so it's pretty much useless. Meanwhile, blight has a green add on that can be used at will to show the aura of survivors, and he has a short animation so he can easily look around and get full advantage of his add on. I think maybe they should flip them, the blight should make people scream and the oni should show their auras. Oni's add on would still be weak, and blights would still be pretty strong, but I think it would be a good change. Also I'm positive that blight add on will be nerfed into the ground soon.

Better Family Crest Idea: Aura sight on obsession while in blood fury or 5% haste every time the obsession changes for 20 seconds.

In the begining when you slammed sum1 BBQ doesn't show ppl in lockers but the person on top at first WAS in a locker up top and you could see the bubble of them in locker that's value

After this video, can you make a "Notification gang" build? Perks include : Tinkerer Discordance Iron Maiden Infectious Fright Spies from the shadows Deathbound Thrill of the hunt etc. (Lots of perks that I didn't include, but you know the gist) I didn't know if all the perks that are included will actually give you a notification. Doctor would be good but we can settle for Trap Killers, Trapper/Hag

While I do agree that the family crest is really bad, I think there's one scenario where it could be useful. Sometimes when you down someone with a demon strike and infectious fright procs, you dash over to the scream bubble, but by the time you arrive there's no trace of the survivor. You know that they're still around since they didn't leave any scratch marks, but you don't want to waste your precious blood fury duration to search for them. It's not a common occurrence but it does suck when it happens. With this add-on you could find them quickly and maybe down them. Still, it's probably not worth it to bring an ultra rare add-on for that one situation.

It's a good add-on for starter players to help them locate Survivors. Beginners often struggle with game sense and locating Survivors. Ironically enough, it's an Ultra Rare, meaning it's initially locked to beginners lol

You should use WHISPERS with this addon. And using of it would eventually make sense, at least in part of getting new players by surprise and make them jump while they hiding in the bush or smth.

I was going to say that Family Crest's only real function is to subtract an addon slot, but you made me realize that it's actually even worse than that because you ended up slamming the ground a bunch which wasted time AND blood fury energy. It's a pink addon that's actually worse than taking nothing.

Blood fury is good for checking generators if you don’t see anyone or don’t have any tracking perks

Oni is the most intimidating killer. I’m more likely to survive against him than a good Nurse, but he still scares me more.
