here we use a fluid extractor to remove the engine oil on this Peugeot diesel engine and remove the oil sump plug to see how much oil is remaining.
we done do a reverse scenario where we drained the oil from the sump plug then try to extract any remaining oil

I always use a fluid extractor saves jacking up the van or car and stops ruining the old sump plug, also took the sump off to change the oil pump on my 1.9 tdi vw and just a tiny bit of oil was left in the sump. Great vid👍

Also funny story - done an oil change on my Vectra last night, put a flush in as well. Drained it out the sump, went straight into the pan, hit the bottom, along to the back and fountained out the back of my pan. After dealing with the mess, I clean up my tools... And remember I've got an extraction pump 🤦‍♂️ only used it once so far and completely forgot I owned it 🤦‍♂️😂

Never had a problem extracting oil with my Pela 6000 pump. Get the oil up to temp, and I’ve always got all the old oil out.

Having the oil up to temperature makes it so much quicker to drain

Just curious, do you have to have a qualification/certification in the UK to legally be a mobile mechanic? I've always worked on my own cars and I've been self taught for about 15 years. Covered most aspects of repair including a couple of headgaskets and engine swaps. After a string of lousey jobs I'm debating going self employed as a mobile mechanic but not sure where I stand on being "unqualified", at least on paper.

There is no legal requirement on qualifications currently but I'm not sure if you can get liability insurance etc without any

@@ORileysAutos I think that might be my struggle too. Do you have any recommendations for companies to try? I'll state I'm not local so I wouldn't be pinching your custom 😂 appreciate the help though. If only it was as easy as grab a van and chuck your tools in eh!

Sounds like a blocked crankcase breather or piston rings causing pressure

@@ORileysAutos thanks for that,, another question?? With the engine running i opened the oil filler cap,, alot of oil sprayed everywhere,, is that normal,, i had a 2.2 transit with 220,000 miles that didn't do this

@@ORileysAutos think same engine, transit was euro 4 which i had from new,, still going,, original everything except injectors at 150 k,, this relay I've just bought recently, with allegedly 57000 miles, ummmmm,
