I have run several different shocks or oil filled Dampers if you prefer; over the years from Yeah racing, 3racing, fastrax, Tamiya and TRF.
Aesthetically the is little between them and on the track they also have similar performance. So when it comes to ordering shocks it comes down to budget more than anything.
we build up the Yeah racing shocks to be used on the TT01. We are using the 50mm shocks which allow for lower ride heights and the optimum 5mm ride height for racing.

What shocks would you recommend for rally car?

Love the vids mate! I’m just getting into club racing with my TT-02. Was curious if you had any pointers for the tamiya cva’s for some tuning tips? Is there any general rule of thumb like more preload requires a 1 or 2 hole piston? Or a decent droop spacer size for front and rear? All these things I’m gonna try but I’m not a good enough driver to see the differences they would make! But I’d just like a tried n true setting to advance my driving skills. with and can’t find a decent vid to show any shock tuning theory for cause and effect. Cheers Lads!!!

We have played with preload etc tend to run dead shock and allow spring to do the work. Run different setups for different tracks. On a tt01 and tt02 you don’t need to worry so much about piston holes

Whats do you think about the yeah racing full TT02 upgrade kit with the arms and a million other parts. Here in Malaysia its around 80 quid or a bit more depends on the kit you want. It seems a bit cheap but seen some good reviews and everything here is cheaper than England or Australia where Im from.

My experience of yeah racing products has always been positive …. Check our video on tt02 upgrade parts as we did have issue with steering but that was Fastrax parts

In my experience, the bladders on the yeah racing shocks were horrible. The tamiya trf bladders are a well worth it upgrade.

Do you recommend the 50 or 55mm length YR shocks for a TT-02? Non rally.

@@PopalongRC thanks. I’m running the 55mm DSGs on a TT02 and found the springs to be very short. Was wondering if this would be improved on the 50mm length shock, but it’s likely the opposite. Thanks

How come dampener unit pushes rod out at 6:52 without spring?
@PopalongRC
@PopalongRC 2 жыл бұрын
It’s called rebound, pushes the car back when leaning into corners/braking etc👍

@@PopalongRC Is there another spring inside dampener unit, coil, air, foam? or was it just gravity pulling rod out of dampener unit?

The piston should not move without the spring. There's air in the shock. If you properly get the air out before sealing it, the piston should stay wherever you put it without a spring. The springs job is to rebound it, the piston and oil damp the movement. I've had this happen with my tamiya cva's. Upon building them, 2 did it and two didn't. May not make much difference in such a small shock but I wanted them neutral. Got them fixed though. Just get the air out. (Unless of course you want that effect. I imagine it would behave like having stiffer springs.) Cheers.

Pack is created by putting more oil in the shock therefore it is higher pressure in the chamber.. on more expensive shocks you can have a bleed value on the top of the shock to balance this. In some instances it is beneficial to run higher pack so the wheel is pushed into the ground when turning .
