Oh lovely, I do like painting trees. I also paint from memory and or imagination. It's a lot harder than people realize. Many, many years ago, I left home at 17 yrs of age and headed off to Plymouth, Devon and studied to become a nurse. We had a year of anatomical drawing of our bodies! I drew everything in colour, shading and smudging and rubbing to make the organ look good. Every crack and crevice of all our bones had to be remembered. Colour for me was the answer. That is the extent of my schooling in art. So here I am at 76 yrs lived never having stopped drawing or colouring or painting.

Thanks Stuart for yet another well worthwhile video. Your videos along with your paintings will live on into the future. I know that I have watched them all from beginning to end. I can imagine that in 50 or 100 years from now some budding young creative humans will be watching Stuart Davies "antique" videos in some totally unknown future format & learning how to paint in your style. Decently mind bending when you ponder on it. Stay Safe!

Hi Stuart. You asked when People started painting. I am retired and I started painting in lockdown in April 2021 because I saw a good old BOB painting. I started painting mountains and the like but soon looked for a bit more. I watched several painters but some like Kevin who only show you enough so you have to go to their sight and pay to watch the whole video. Once I came across you I am completely into your style of painting and have binge watched your videos. Can’t get enough of them. I have improved enormously, love your painting and your whole way of teaching.

Thank you, Stuart, for a fantastic video. There us so much information here that it begs for more than one viewing! I have been painting for 6 years exploring many styles and mediums. Oils are by far the best to create with for me. You have inspired me in so many ways. You introduced me to tonalism and the “illusion of detail”..for which I shall always be grateful. Those influences have so enriched my painting adventure! Thank you for all that you give to us. I am one who watches each of your videos to the very end…your stories combined with your instruction makes your videos at once entertaining and educational. Looking forward to the next installment!🙂🙂🙂👏👏👏

Apart from my “poplar trees”, I succeeded in representing your extremely interesting techniques. My gessoed plywood was all ready and now I look forward to the painting drying out and doing part two. I started painting on canvas a couple of years ago. I sometimes paint when i'm in the right mood. When i don't care of the painting is gonna be good. Because it is not wasted. I have been painting and that is wat is good for me. And i have not thrown away any painting. Gave the first one away to my mother. That was accrilic. The next whas in oil. And i find oils forgiving medium. I think i'm not a bad painter. And it sure makes me happy when painting. I really hope it makes you happy as well. I'm learning new things watching and listening to your video's. I really like the stories you tell while painting. The story of the drunk artist is really interesting. And now the stories about you as a todler. Nice. Greetings from the Netherlands,, Kitty.

I forgot. I started painting about 30+ years ago. I have painted some rather nice paintings, but somewhere along the way, I began "tickling away" at details too soon. I quit painting my feelings and started painting things. Huge mistake, I know, but I didn't seem to be able to stop myself. I had pretty much stopped painting when I saw your ILLUSION OF DETAIL painting video and it was like drinking a bracing spring tonic! It was just what the doctor ordered. 😁

Fangirl here. Unstuck and painting so much I can not get to other things that I must get to-I have other obligations but be __amned because the Sky Whisperer-that would be YOU Mr. Davies - has unlocked my mind and my fear!! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! I told my husband you are like the voice of My Precious Savior in my ear, “Do not fear I have given you the tools.” You gave me those tools! This whole business has even translated into a life lesson! All the times I had watched you before, countless, but this time I truly listened to you. You always say not to panic, not to become fearful, there is always a fix. And then there is that magic you do with blurring-BRILLIANT! It took me several tries and five different brushes but as Professor Higgens said, “By George she’s got it…” Now I can do skies. Not NEARLY as magnificent as you but I am not meant to copy you. I am expressing me-and I’m good with that.😄 From an ever grateful heart. Fangirling from Okemos, Michigan U.S.A. Gloriously UNSTUCK and thankful beyond WORDS‼️🎨🎨🎨
