Thank you so much! I am an older beginner and I watch and study your videos over and over. As a result people are really surprised by my paintings and love them. Others have made positive comments about the range of techniques I use and that is because you teach so well and pleasantly. Thank you and please keep the teaching and tips coming.

Thank you Kevin. ..a great tips..enjoyed this. Thanks for taking the time to share..the pic looks so 3D and such great depth. I have all your brushes. .two sets of each..going to order the third..it is so much easier to paint without having to wash a brush in between. I took your advice way back when you mentioned this..even have the same magnets..they are wonderful. Looking forward in the detail brush...your DVDs are really good learning tools..once you get the concepts down ...you can take elements from each one and create other scenes. I am now working with the waterfall DVD. .great tips and techniques. .this has so much..trees..rocks..water..and many different color mixes..thanks again. God bless..

Many thanks Kevin! I think the area you have evolved the most in is texture, incorporating many colors and brush strokes into it and keeping the light right all at the same time. For example the area in this painting between the two trees and the small rocks in the path. Rather than taking the big brush and jabbing in various shades of green you are taking a different approach. Anything you could discuss about creating detailed ground textures and your use of color would be greatly appreciated. You have a good balance between creating interesting detail while still keeping it loose. Thanks again for your much appreciated instruction!

Loved this tip video and would love to see more! I am a beginner and I'm most interested in how you approach and achieve such detail in your mountains and lighting effects. It seems as though you layer 2 or 3 darks and 3 lights or something like that. I also assume you use very little paint while doing this layering? I would love to see how you make it happen as that is what sets you apart from others in my mind. Thanks Kevin, keep it up!

thanks, Kevin, my painting main touchup on furniture. I think your liner brush would come in handy to do some detail graining. I use dye powders with shellac, and I wanted to know if I should be using an acrylic or oil version of your brushes.

Thank you so very much for *finally* explaining *WHY* my tree limbs/branches never have looked realistic. I've been doing them mostly in the"wormy" style!!! LOL!!! Really, thank you!!! You asked if we need guidance on a brush - how about guidance on how to make a brush stroke? I have trouble doing something really simple and that is the "X" for like blending colors. Is that more of a technique you would have to practice to really "get it"? Or, do you have any tips you can share with us? Thank You so much for your time with making these videos for us, Kevin. I do appreciate your help.

Would love to see more tip videos! Sometimes you feel like watching a long video, sometimes quick videos. I think that would help viewer traffic and expose more people to your talent. Personally, I'd like to see something more on your under-painting... especially your technique with the filbert. Also your canvas prep. Thank you so much for your videos!

Hey Kevin, can you make a tutorial explaining how and when to use mediums, do you use it and do you apply it only in sky and water area or across the whole canvas. Great video as always.
@KevinOilPainting8 жыл бұрын
+metalhead473 Thanks so much for your question. I apply a thin coat of white medium over the sky and water only. The medium will increase your ability to blend the colors in the sky and water. However, having a medium over the dark areas such as grass, would impede our dark underpainting. The medium would also thin the dark base coat. This would make highlighting more difficult.

Also, do you have any suggestions for cleaning old Acrylic paint off a canvas. I know how you can never get it the original color, but, I would like to be able to remove as much paint as I can because I have quite a few paintings that didn't "turn out" right to me. And, I'm concerned about putting too much paint onto the canvas, causing it to crack when I've done one I really like. Thank You so much for your time even if you are unable to answer my question(s).

Hey Kevin... I love ur work... But I would like to see some lava going down a mountain. Or a tornado on a grass field. Natural disasters are sad but very beautiful if captured on a painting... also, isn't sad emotions on a painting considered as something catchy? Please please please consider it!
