I Just picked up a celica with a 7afe and i'm glad I found your channel since there isn't a huge catalog of youtube videos for our cars. Thanks dawg

Awesome! To be honest on Celicas I'd probably prefer the 7A-FE over the 5S-FE even though the 7A is smaller. They make similar power, the 7A is more mod-friendly, and it sounds so much better with a nice exhaust!

I got offered a '93 manual Corolla wagon for a parts car for only $400!! It barely runs he says. My main issue is where to park it. What do y'all think of this option?? 🤔
@AutoFixYT

If it's not rusted out then it's worth it! You can always make it run better. Theyre fun cars, easy to work on, and rare!

@@AutoFixYT My 1996 wagon runs great with ONLY a check engine code for a return oxygen sensor. Buying a parts car seems "excessive" and denying someone else the chance to fix it up. I've only got one ass, so don't need two (2) running cars 😏

Make sure you unscrew every single bolt before you try to take the oil pan out, or it would be twisted. Good job though.

I am curious to know if these oil pans can rott through from a rusty outer spot? I found a spot on mine that I should probably sand to clean metal and paint it
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT Жыл бұрын
Yeah they can. That's what happened to my original one. This one isn't the original one anymore. They're steel so if they aren't painted, over time they will rot out

could you also just buy a gasket?
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT Жыл бұрын
Yes. But they usually don't hold as well as RTV. Also, on a 353k mile engine like this one, the pan has been removed many times for sure. I have removed it 3-4 times just throughout my ownership. And I bought it at 263k miles. So my point is the pan isn't perfectly straight anymore. And a lot of times a cork or rubber gasket will not seal up a warped pan but RTV will. So that's why I prefer RTV for this.

@@AutoFixYT Okay sounds good, I’ll probably do this next oil change. I just wanted to know which was better overall, don’t want to waste money on a gasket that won’t work. Keep the videos coming
@AutoFixYT
@AutoFixYT Жыл бұрын
@@poppinfresh5261 Well I'm glad I answered your question! Unless your oil pan is totally mangled (in which case you wanna get a new one lol) then a cork or rubber gasket will seal up but overall RTV wins just because it will last longer and is way more forgiving with any possible imperfections. Also Toyota uses RTV from the factory. So there's another reason right there lol

@@AutoFixYT I took a short video if you wish to see that stiffener plate on the channel. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qptkir14yMi2pXk.html&feature=share I got the crank pulley off and valve cover today but now the issue is getting the middle plastic timing cover off! Top one was easy and managed to wiggle out the bottom to find a neat oil weep puddle from I think the front lower seal lol. But the middle one is not budging much because of the water pump pulley, what is the trick to removing that cover other than trying to remove the water pump pulley in that real tight spot TY!
