I have used oil pastel resist to create lines and marks on the gel plate.
I have compared expensive and cheap oil pastels.
I have used different methods to transfer to the gel plate.
I have also used oil pastel transfer technique with stencils to demonstrate its potential for creating a final picture.

Hi Michele, thank you!!! I need to do a follow up video for the art fair. It was a good day, unfortunately a large gallery owner didn’t arrive to take the lot, which was slightly disappointing 🙄😂. Now fair is done I’m focusing on pulling my eBay shop back up to scratch (a few days). Im hoping to get back to 2 or 3 videos per week next week 🤞🏻😊

this is really instructive: I'm going to give this a go. I was thinking -- it might be fun to use some of the text book diagrams to influence your pastel shapes and stencils so they 'communicate' with the page. (not an artist, so I hope I've chosen a word that says what I mean!)

Hi Elaine, I’m not a qualified artist either, just obsessed!! I think you explained it perfectly. I prefer layman terms to professional terms too, it’s too easy to throw out big words and walk away. Anyway, that’s my thought for today 😵‍💫🤓😂 I came across a microbiology textbook earlier on too. I really like your idea and the sharpness of the chemistry with the more rounded biology will be a good mix. I can see virus inspired stencils soon 🥳

Both the photo and I are euphemistically ‘vintage.’ It was taken in 1972 when I was 20 (you do the math) in our barn in Texas with Patterns (my sister’s horse in the background), Momma (her pigeon), and Sunkist (my Golden Retriever puppy). I’m now living on an island in Washington state. I’m glad to have your lovely experiments as part of my forays with Gelli prints and equally pleased be able to listen to your voice as part of the soundtrack of my life. I first came to Scotland when I was 16 and was taken with it in many ways. I’ve returned a few times since. Listening to takes me back. So thank you in return.
