went into limp mode today got the p06dd 00 Af dtc and no others look like.i will be replacing the solenoid then. Once again thank you for all the excellent tips with these cars you must of saved me thousands by now.

Great video Alan, thank you Not only Mondeo's - I've just had to replace this solenoid on my daughter's 1.6 diesel Jeep Renegade which came up with the same code. Just got EML but no limp mode. Very difficult to source the part, but this engine is fitted in Fiats, Alfas, and some Vauxhalls. Managed to get one from an Alfa dealer £148 and not as pretty as yours.

@alan I have this issue cutting out on load, no limp mode, just stalls, 4th 5th 6th gear high load. It shows no codes. If it stop the car I can restart it and it drives fine

Hello Alan , I have a 2018 ford Mondeo 1.5 diesel manual and recently the spanner light comes on the dash board but no fault codes. I have changed the oil and oil filter with fuel filter but to no avail the spanner light is still on and the car is now in limp mode any idea please?

@Alan Howatt I would just like to thank you for your excellent videos, really saved my butt when my Mondeo (2016 Mk5 2.0 TDCi) decided to kick it on the highway. No previous errors, no warnings. Just dies, and got the dreaded amber spanner. Tried many things, changed the filters, leak-off tests etc. Turns out the fuel pump had failed just like in one of your videos; exactly on the same spot on the shaft. I changed the pump to a new one, and the car fired right up again, but it runs rough. To the point: now I get a P0266 Cylinder 2 Contribution/Balance error readout on ForScan, and - for some reason - the dashboard gives me a Low Engine Oil Pressure warning. But Forscans says nothing about this. There are no other errors. Am I getting a oil pressure error because the engine is running roughly, or do you think it might be the solenoid like in this video (no errors on this though). Also, I'm not sure I quite understand what the P0266 error means, but from what I gather, I might all of a sudden have a clogged or broken injector on Cyl2? Thanks :)

Can you test this part in any way to see if is not working or is there no way of doing that. Got exact symptoms on my Ford Kuga 2015.

I change oil on mk4 Ford Mondeo after 5000 miles I checked the dipstick and there was no oil to be seen. I am surprised there was no warning light and the car drove as normal and good fuel consumption; 45 mpg. The car is about 14 yrs old. Do I ask the garage to change the oil pressure sending unit. Hopefully the engine is oké.

Hi Alan, again great video. I was wondering if is there a way to maybe clean this sensor? Since this is an electro-mechanical component, maybe the electronic part is ok and the mechanical part can be cleaned with some spray (degreaser, brake cleaner). Did you try something like this?

In stock item at Ford - says to me its a common occurance fault like the fuel pump gear unit gasket. Great info as always. Is there any perticular mileage these have been started to fail at on the fleet you look after? See you in oct to discuss steering rack bolts.

So, do we know if the OFF state is open or closed, i.e. normal pressure or low pressure? It appears that these solenoids are used to REDUCE oil pressure when there is little or no load on the engine in order to make the engine more fuel efficient by reducing parasitic power loss due to normal oil pressure. In Mercedes engines, the default state is NORMAL oil pressure as a fail-safe in the even of the solenoid failure. Also, the Mercedes code P06DA00 will not illuminate the CEL/MIL/EML and is generally ignored unless there is also an engine light, which would indicate a different problem.

IS IT GOOD IDEA JUST UNPLUG IT SO OIL PRESSURE KEEP THE SAME ?

That was easy to fix. At the last time i had a faulty oil pressure switch and twice a week came up yellow wrench on the dash. Now everything is just perfect again no problem. Alan! I would have a question to you please! There is any replacing period for the camshaft chain? Because i was at the ford garage somewhere in Ireland and they told me this one no need to touch. I am just worried because i saw your other video about broken chain. Thanks 👍

Watching your videos I’ve decided to sell my mk5 2.0l diesel. Nice car, loved it until 3 days ago when at 58000 km the EGR valve broke on me in the middle of the highway 450 km away from home, on my way to important business that I needed to attend. I lost all confidence in it. This begs the question whether it would make sense, if you’re stuck with a particular car, to preemptively change this solenoid at certain mileage?

Alan, good day, I also had the same problem and the same symptoms, with the same error code, after replacing the solenoid, the error disappeared, but under load, the car again went into the same mode as before and gave 2 new errors on the maf, P1102:21-A7 and P1102-P Tell me, maybe you have encountered something similar?

Hello Alan have you ever encounter metal fillings in the oil sump? If not what would you think it would be? Sump was dropped and cleaned, oil filter opened and was clean 👌

im having this issue. car is 6 years old but only 38k miles! only seems to do it when pulling hard (at low RPM) or being driven hard. not sure whether to try changing the oil first or, as it seems, try changing this solenoid while im on with the service. any recommendations?

Hi this is so weird, the last 2 weeks my fkng 2018 mondeo 1.5's been on limping mode, I've been reading and looking and going from garage to garage spending fkng money trying to fix it but no joy at all, not sure if there is a selenoid oil presure sensor on that shait i own, but well; this next Monday is going to the garage,not the stealer but a really good one for what I've heard, so hopefully I'll get it fixed to fck 🤷‍♂️
