Man, what a great game this would have been to attend! Two of the most rugged teams in the league at the time, going at it. Some nasty hits were delivered on both sides. There were a couple good scraps and one great one, the Clash of the Titans between Brown and Probert. I hadn’t seen so much footage before of the buildup before their fight. Nor had I seen the extracurricular activity later in the game, with Buchberger trying to get Bob to fight (which he couldn’t do, because the third fighting major would also earn a game misconduct). And then Brown was also trying to get Probert to go again in the third period and gave him some abuse, which frustrated Probert. Great job as always, Vince Carroll!

Shawn Burr (Skippy) was an absolute beast of a bodychecker. I was always bummed when the Wings let him go. It was fun watching Probie pound Beukeboom. Then after being crosschecked and semi-jumped by Brown (which was common for Brown), Probie drops him. And Paul Stewart doing Paul Stewart things like almost ruining another game. Man, he was fn terrible. Loved seeing Chevy shut down the Rat Linseman. The Oilers tried so hard to get Probert out of the game. Always nice seeing Tikkanen hurt and crying. Great win for the Wings. I remember watching this game live.

It was a miracle that Dollas wasn't paralyzed..😮 And Probert was a beast! Rest in peace king.

Brown is a joke. He knows Probert isn’t going to fight him again or he’s out of the game. He already got his ass kicked once. I guess he wanted another.

Probert vs Brown was not a normal Probert fight. Bob was engaged.

Murphy's life changed dramatically. He was never the same. He ended up homeless.

You mean when Brown jumped him and started punching before Bob dropped his stick and got his gloves off?

Probert ran at Brown and bumped him. Brown responded with a crosscheck and dropped his gloves, but Bob kept his gloves on, trying to draw a penalty. But after absorbing a few big punches, Probert decided to fight back. Both men got in some serious punches, but Bob landed the best one, the looping right to the jaw of Brown that staggered him. It was a very close fight until the TKO punch ended it. This was the fight where Probert became the NHL champ, by scoring a big win over the guy who had been the best for the previous five or so seasons.

With three minutes to go in the game, Probert should have given the Oilers what they wanted. Being thrown out wouldn't have mattered then.
