Thank you for sharing this informative video with a tinge of sadness .Am from Australia and there is a lot of bush fires and I am fascinated by the colours from the fires even it’s sad to acknowledge the losses of properties and wild lives. … we have to acknowledge the fantastic selfless job that the firemen do.It’s good to remember the dreadful impact through pictures and paintings . You depict so beautifully all the colours and shows the intensity across . Thank you again. 🔥🔥

I have been inspired to paint fires too. My brother was a firefighter. In Maltby South Yorkshire. He died a few years ago. Like you i want to make a point about the hard work they do. I now live in Arizona. There is a movie made about the Arizona firefighters. A true story. Called Only The Brave. A very powerful movie and incredibly sad. This is why paintings like yours are truely important. Ill say thank you from me and from my brother Rob. Hopefully i will get some time to paint my picture too. Fiona.

Great painting and tutorial thanks. You are right these bush fire fighters risk their lives every time they are called out to protect property or someones life. They do an amazing job to control an unpredictable force

well done Stephen,the fire fighter had a back pack sprayer on,to douse the fire,many a time a wore one when i was a retained Fireman,but Well done mate.

Hi Stephen a dramatic scene indeed and difficult to paint from an emotional point of view, people like these firefighters deserve our upmost respect. I was surprised to see your name under this painting as it is so different to your usual landscapes but it turned out great you captured everything an Aussie bush fire is about , I can see why you painted this as I think the human figure in the foreground gives it a dramatic effect .I live in Adelaide Australia and saw this a lot last year look forward to more of your great work 👍👍👍👍

Stephen; this is fantastic; i have attempted a similar painting in acrylics but of an oil well fire resulting from the invasion of Kuwait - I will be looking to do it again with the techniques you have displayed. Many thanks for your tutorials which provide me with great inspiration.

I think you’ve captured this forest fire beautifully Stephen. The movement of the wind is seen quire clearly blowing the flames up the hill and the firefighter containing them in his area. This is a great tribute to those wonderful men and women who put their lives on the line. Well done!

I was a smokejumper in Alaska and in the lower 48in the western states. These fires live. It fights for the oxygen that we both fight to breath. I fought fire with fire. They kill each other.

Absolutely brilliant, you keep misspelling Phthalo blue on the colours list though, every episode I think oh no he’s done it again lol. Any chance you could do a blue sky comparison with different blues as mine always look so unrealistic, yours always look so real. There are so many blues to buy and I’m sure there are some better suited than others ? Thanks as always

@hughs art I certainly do but Stephen is usually happy for any little tips or suggestions. He should be imo the most viewed artist on KZfaq and little things like spelling a well known colour wrong lessens the professionalism of it. Ignoring these just because we like him doesn’t help him. It’s also nice to tell him how much better his intro now is, like I did recently. The growth of his channel is not just about his painting but also his whole channel like spelling, editing, audio levels, content etc etc. If I think my suggestion will benefit him I will continue to mention it unless he personally says otherwise.

Thanks linda... i make my own primer usingba mix of waterbased undercoat ,a little pva sealer and water.. just a little pva ... that makes a great primer.

how do you prevent the fire from mixing in with the background

Well i put on the backround in thin layers and the fire in a thicker layer but not mixing on the canvas too much. Then a pallete knife for the last layet..
