OK Go is the only band that make music videos like this. Try to be clever, geeky and awesome at the same time, along with genuinely trying to do something no-one has ever done before. And it's quite special.

i don't think there will ever be another band like them that puts this much effort into music videos

Adding this video to my STEM Math class after showing the students the "official" The One Moment Video; thanks to the band and all involved for a great music video math lesson.

Thank you for your super great videos. Keep the educational/behind the scenes versions coming. I am using this video and the One Moment video in my 5th grade advanced math class to work on whole numbers and multiplying fractions. Thanks for continuing to make great content.

I don't know if anyone can answer this, but I want to know what Arnold's job is, like what kind of company does he work for? I study computer engineering and my "dream job" would be to use it for art like this, but I don't even know what to look for. Amazing process!

This is honestly incredibly interesting, I'd love to see more behind the scenes stuff like this, even more indepth. Like, I wanna see the machine that was made and how he made it, that kind of thing.

It would be incredible to see a much more in-depth look at this whole thing. Particularly the circuitry and pyrotechnics set up.

It wasn't if you include the last minute of the video.
@killme18407 жыл бұрын
Fabrizio Lungo - They didn't though. They stopped it at the part where the guitars exploded. If they didn't include the little 4.2 seconds disclaimer the video wouldn't have almost 1k dislikes.
@fablungo7 жыл бұрын
escape the moon Oh I know they didn't show the last minute of the music video in 4.2 second clip at the beginning and I am not saying they speed anything up and claimed otherwise (the first thing I did after watching the music video the first time was watch it at 0.25 speed), but the whole music video was not shot in 4.2 seconds. Even in this video Damian says "the whole video is shot in just under 4.2 seconds" which is where its becomes misleading. Its still impressive and full props to all of OK GO and the whole team that worked on this for putting it together.

So is OK Go like Rush? In Rush you had Neil Peart reading books non stop, traveling the world, writing all these amazing lyrics, all while Alex and Geddy smoked weed and jammed out on their guitars.

Was the camera on a motorised dolly?
@TrivisionZero7 жыл бұрын
It appears so, as hand moving it would probably not be precise enough.
@fablungo7 жыл бұрын
I saw in another interview where he said that it was shot in multiple takes because the robots could not move fast enough between all of the sections but implying that yes, robots were used. I didn't think it would have been possible for a human to control that precisely and if a robot struggled to keep up with the speed, can only imagine a feeble human trying to do the same task.

How did they solve the 250 microsecond timing challenge? (I know this is a math video, not an electrical engineering video - is that one next?)

Question - when filming at 4,000fps, does the shutter speed have to be at least 1/4,000s? In that case, how does the video come out at normal brightness even inside? Is the ISO really high, or are there really, really bright lights on set?
@EdwardTtube7 жыл бұрын
Following general filmmaking conventions the shutter speed should be 1/8000, it would probably be a combination of using a higher ISO and a lot of lights

Adding to what outlanderfrog said: Sequencing of the conventional explosives used to trigger the fission blast was very...fussy, particularly for the plutonium-core implosion-type devices.

why not shoot it then record the song according to the timing of the events? this would allow leeway for the precision
@ROOKTABULA7 жыл бұрын
That was an amazing video. You should be proud. But? I remember it vividly and the song: Not at all. 😔 You were/are a great rock band, ascending for a time. But sequencing and synths are too dominant in the mix there days IMo.

i love the video, i think it is amazing, but really not that much math. lol. some ppl in the comments acting like it is rocket science. perhaps a window into our really bad education system?
