The term “creative” has been hi jacked and sadly ring fenced largely by un creative people. So often when people say “I’m a creative” what they mean is they are consumers of other people’s art/ media - eg they like watching film. They are not creative in the slightest. The term has been totally devalued. - STEM people have not stood up and said “hang on a minute!” so people do not understand STEM is all about creativity. How can you solve real problems that you haven’t seen before without being creative ?

I will be showing this to my stubborn 10 year old in the morning. He's good at math but it's boring. Perfect application for real life on this video.

I cannot thank you guys enough!! As an 8th grade math teacher in an inner city district, it is extremely difficult to find any math videos online that actually apply to something FUN in REAL LIFE. I was able to show this video to my students and discuss the use of mathematics that applied. THANK YOU!

This is one of the biggest reasons I've loved OkGo ever since Million Ways to be Cruel; the insane amount of work, preparation, and perseverance they put into all of their videos, taking months or even sometimes years to make them perfectly! What i want to know is how they accounted for all possible human error, because it seems like there could be a fair bit in that video.
@technicallypossible6 жыл бұрын
I think if you are shooting at 550fps and playback at 30fps, and you were, say 0.1sec out of sync on the finished video, you could just drop more or less frames to suit. If you look at the original video, you can see parts where the playback speeds up or slows down to keep sync - like at around 1:06 where he says "All of this will end", "All of" is a bit faster than "this will end". And shortly after that, after the last bucket of paint explodes, you can see the paint flies through the air a bit faster so that the lip sync of "open your eyes to me" part is correct... If that makes sense...
@micahphilson6 жыл бұрын
I thought of that as well, but still, they all had to remember to sing just fragments of a line at just the right times. Not everything was perfect (like the spinning thing with Damian's face singing was sometimes a tiny bit off perfect), but everything was still really, really well coordinated, and you know they didn't just have a ton of tries like normal because of all of the things they had to blow up.
@micahphilson6 жыл бұрын
All in all, I would *love* to see a full, in-depth behind-the-scenes video of this music video!
@technicallypossible6 жыл бұрын
Yeah me too. They definitely have some ambitious projects! This "making of" is pretty good (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aMp2l7GG35jHgZc.html) but only like 5 mins - there is a bit of a lip sync example at about 2 mins. I think it was also shot in sections that have been stitched together to make it a bit more do-able. This video is pretty good too (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rJ6elpiop9KUlIE.html) - gives you a bit more of an appreciation of how much work went into it. Unreal clip from these guys. As usual.

I have no words for majority of OK GO's videos. The work, dedication and creativity is freaking outstanding. And then I'm watching the behind the scenes on these videos and it make me appreciate them even more. This one here makes me appreciate math even more. Not only does math enable us to do things like this (amongst solving millions of the problems we're faced on a daily basis), math is a platform and language that the entire world understands.

Now here I was thinking that you shot the video as is, and starting tweaking each shot in post to get the timings onto each beat. I didn't think it was actually frame beat perfect on a real world level. I thought 'filmed in real time' simply meant what we saw was filmed, no digital objects inserted, but was free to edit what Was filmed. This just blows my mind even more. Woah!
