My husband and I took German lessons many years ago for a brief time. I had a beautiful black cat. I came home from class and said... wo ist muttis katze? (I may have my spelling wrong) Sam came charging in from the back room, jumped up on me purring and giving me kisses. As I went around the house practicing my lessons, Sam reacted appropriately to everything I said. I asked our exchange student who had returned to Essen if he taught Sam German, but Benjamin only spoke English in our home. A few years later his brother and mother came to visit. She only knew a little English. I told her to feel free to speak to the cat in German because he seemed to understand. 😹🤷‍♀️ You have a very sweet kitty ❤

Some years ago while walking near a wooded area I heard a faint meow and wound up rescuing an abandoned cat with many wounds and only 3 working legs. With veterinary help he recovered and lived another 15 years. He always stayed close, as many cats do and always jumped on the bed to sleep at the same level as I.

My kitty use to do that every time I was filming a video for my channel, on a phone call or Zoom meeting. He would wake up from his cat nap to come and bug me, and it never bugged me one bit. He's gone now and I miss that like crazy.

Is it just me or are stray cats and just cats in general extremely rare in Germany? In my 1st trip to Germany last year, which last 2 weeks from south to north, I've only come across one cat when attending Wave-Gotik Treffen in Leipzig.
