One of the most beautiful and elegant skaters ever. And at the same time she is so cute and sweet and humble. No matter which country we come from, always acknowledge the absolutely wonderful talent of another athlete. To me at the time she was by far the most complete skater

Очень красиво. Сколько бы выступлений не смотрела, выглядит очень КРАСИВО. У неё продумано всё: не только движения ног, но и рук , и головы. Конечно, у современных девочек много сложных элементов, но их выступления какие-то одинаковые, без души, сплошные элементы, а тут получаешь истинное эстетическое наслаждение. У нее именно ТАНЕЦ на льду. Такое чувство, что смотришь балет, где движениями передаются слова и эмоции

Вы забываете, что современные девочки выступают на чемпионатах, а там надо много прыгать. Оксана же тут катается на соревнованиях профессионалов, там другие требования к технике. Потом девочки уйдут в ледовые шоу и так же просто будут танцевать.

У нее и на Олимпиаде было много прыжков ,но эта эмпатия и балет на льду присутствовал всегда ,у нее удивительная подача программы .М даже с травмой (на тренировке перед финальным выступлением ей разсекли кость и три часа кровь не останавливалась и она вышла на лёд и как она прыгала и жила каждым мгновением ,удивительное чувство музыки я говорю как музыкант .Самый красивый спорт и любимый(и получила золото ,ни одной ошибки с такой травмой )

Oksana Baiul is the greatest skater of this classical style. No one does it better not even Yu Na Kim as talented as she is can't express this music better than Baiul.

jan tellit I'm afraid you are incorrect, actually I didn't feel much from her (mostly because she changed the mood when she landed a jump and that broke my concentration) Yuna Kim was sublime, she really put me in the clouds with every move :')

@@aracelichely2954 That is your opinion. Yu Na is a more of a technical skater. Today's COP rewards technique 1st & only. When Baiul skated the COP rewarded & emphasized artistry to win. So jan tellit is right. Yu Na doesn't have Oksana's expressive arm or facial expressions either. Yu Na doesn't have mastery of movement compare her swan to Oksana's. It falls flat. Yu Na's skating is not always on the music unlike Oksana. I shudder to imagine how otherworldly Oksana would've become had she had the army of resources, care & protection that are available to Yu Na Kim, who was fully developed to the peak of her powers as a skater & performer. Oksana's career was mismanaged where she was shortchanged and grinded for money by abusive, greedy handlers. Oksana has more raw talent than Yu Na. Her work is more sublime.

Oksana is the most artistic skater of all times. The music flows through her body. I specially like when she lifts her leg while gliding across the ice. Very flexible skater. She is the greatest skater I think very unique where she combines the highest artistry with technical competence. Nobody can mimic her moves, donut spin, arm movement, eye and face expressions, flexibility, sensitivity to the music and the list goes on.......

This was back when figure skating was beautiful and not marred by isu and the number of triples performed and whatnot!

Oh believe me, "number of triples" was a big deal in the early to mid-90s as well. This is just after the active amateur competitive time of Midori Ito and Tonya Harding, two powerhouse jumpers. But it wasn't quite such a staggering part of the score as it is today; it was easier then to win with a clean program of lesser difficulty over a more difficult but messier one.

Well dang. Oksana was my hero growing up. Lol. I've never accepted her fail from grace after the accident, and the subsequent effect on her skating. I choose to remember her like this: maybe somewhat inconsistent on the technical elements but one of the most brilliant artistic skaters of all time.

Oksana will always be the most loved of all women ice skaters.. she is just so elegant and perfect on the ice. I also think it is very kind of her coach to help raise her and train her so well .. A joy to watch her skate & perform.. she is my favorite of all time... fan

Yuka Sato won in Boston, due to Oksana being extremely affected by the death of Sergei Grinkov. She was unable to perform technically and in tears before the program ended.

Yuka Sato was no where near Oksana Baiul as a skater back then. They made it sound like she was really great she fell several times here & they let her win. Pro events were rigged. Oksana poise & lightness her grace & movement have no equal imo.

I believe she did beat Yuka here but you have to understand stand that Yuka was the reigning world champion and Oksana did not skate well in the next phase of the competition.

Сейчас напихивают максимум элементов и усложняют заходы ради их стоимости, чтобы набрать баллов. А скольжение, само катание практически отсутствует. Наблюдала ученицу школы олимпийского резерва, катающуюся на 2 взрослый разряд с перебежками без рёбер. Но делает комбинированные вращения, прыгает.

Don't be stupid Sato & Oksana were not the only skaters entered at this event. Sato's performance was dreadful here. She fell 4 times & should NOT have won this. A clean performance should count for something!

Problems were going on when she was with Galina she didn't move from Galina's until AFTER the accident. But the drinking went on during Galina's watch. She had always had her own house since moving here. All of them lived in separate homes in Simsbury Connecticut. She was on her own here Galina stated "she'd washed her hands of Oksana. Get it right.
