Alright, Metallica releases a new song, I have a new guitar... lets do this!
Point with this series is that I try and learn a song by ear in the least amount of time possible. With varied results...
0:00 - Intro
1:13 - Listening To The Song
1:38 - Intro Riff
3:20 - Main Riff
5:00 - Verse
6:31 - Kirk Lead 1
7:38 - Solo
12:48 - Solo Up To Speed
13:24 - Whole Song
16:55 - Closing Thoughts

I also thought I was never gonna learn any songs by ear, because of how insane it was to me to learn something by listening to it. Turns out it's easier than I thought if you've been playing for a bit of time. Just try it, and stick to it ! that's really the hardest part, to stick to it. Also helps that this song is pretty easy to understand and play. I have a lot more trouble figuring out stuff like Yngwie because of his tone and style, notes blend in together it's much harder

My first thoughts: #1 did they get a new drummer? That's some serious double bass! #2 that rhythm guitar sound is tight! #3 Hetfield can still wail man! #4 Ola, thanks for showing us that we all learn these tunes the same way! Play. Rewind. Play again. Get it wrong. Rewind. Play again. Almost get it. Rewind. Play again. Nail it! Move on to next riff and repeat.
