I love my Northern Mauler. I highly recommend it. And as for the G series side, Glenn wanted it to be like a Revv G3.5. The tightness of a G3, with the low end of the G4. The pedal is so good for leads. It cuts through so well, and it takes wah pedals incredibly.

Great video. The unintentional pick flip into the coffee cup was an added plus. 🤘

A few months before this last Christmas a friend invited me to a show with his band. He was using the Revv northern mauler and I immediately noticed such a heavier sound. We packed up after his show and brought his axe and Revv pedal to my house after I playing through that beast I was convinced it was a badass Christmas gift to myself.

The whole point of using a HM-2 and getting your own original sound is to blend it with your amp's crunch or lead channel. You can also max it out on the clean channel but the that's when you get that standard chainsaw sound. The mauler seems fun though. Might pick one up.

I have it and like it. I like to somewhat scoop the G side and then blend in the HM2 side as the mids and I feel like they sit in the right place. I've also used it on bass and it works just as well

So Maia and I start listening to Ola beating the b-jeezus out of the clean channel of his Marshall... nice toan/Maia-approved. THEN, at precisely 4:20 in the morning the pedal gets pushed into the dirt-channel... - ears go back - cat-face slowly rotates ... from the screen panning ever so slowly to looking directly at me : - - - "Oh Fook NO, Dad... you will NOT GET THAT PEDAL and you will not play THAT in MY HOUSE." Maia literally cat-slaps me in the face with a soft paw, yowls, then runs off. Dam, I gotta get this pedal. Thanks for the run down.

I think Northern Mauler was actually named that way cuz Glenn is from Canada which is known as The Great White North. Could be wrong but I vaguely remember him saying something like that...hmmm I could have been drunk so... 🤣 Pretty cool pedal. I think Bloodbath got the most brutal version of the HM2 even more brutal than Entombed who pioneered it. Especially early Bloodbath with Akerfeldt on vox, absolutely brutal 🤘🤘🤘 Would love to hear you combine your Chugg pedal with an HM2 and the Northern Mauler and see what kind of bloodbath tone you could get. Like can you go beyond that tone with those three pedals and create a new level of swedish death metal never heard before? Sounds like a challenge? It is!! Hello Ola, once again a nice video. Apparently there is a trend towards building HM2 circuitry with other distortion into one housing and mixing the sounds. I have a 2 channel mixer kit from Musikding (MadBox Splitter/Mixer kit) that does exactly this blend function. I can tell you, this is the coolest device that was ever built. Actually quite simple with a pair of op amps and a potentiometer. But it's really fun to mix the HM2 with other pedals. Best of all, you can mix your whole pedal collection, ML2 with THE CHUG Pedal, BE OD with Revv G4, Engl Reaper with VH Drive Channel. . . . Endless possibilities and things come out that you don't think are possible. cheers \m/

Glen is the man and he's pissing off soooo many guitarists lol I love it personally, not only as guitarist for almost 24 yrs myself. But also as a Luthier and Tech.....as for his pedal, meh, not really feeling it too much, but also not really my style. Sure it is built like a damn tank though lol ...I would of never heard of Harley Benton/Thomann Music if it wasn't for him. Bought their FanFret R-458BK model and I've been sold on them since. Cause we don't have Harley Benton out here in Arizona 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻

For what it does it’s cool; something a bit different. Seems more like a Revv with a fuzz circuit than HM-2, but I don’t know the frequency bandwidth they aimed for. For me, I think there’s far more dynamic blend pedals out there from KMA, LWA/ \/\/\, Blackhawk, and ICA. The Grindstein is a pretty cool one to check out.

Hello Ola 👋🏻, that SOLAR 🎸 guitar looks amazing ! It very well might be my favourite one that I’ve seen so far ! The gold hardware with the dark translucent red really pops! That Mauler pedal sounds pre good, but that being said I prefer the overall tone and bite on the CHUG pedal over that one though ( I don’t really need it, But you made it so… I do Want it 😄regardless of owning a pile of gear, is it ever really enough ? 🤔🙂 I just love new toys ) . Right now and for years for distortion I’ve run a BOSS-MT2-Metalzone ( mostly for a mid scooped tone adjustment and about 1/3 of distortion ) and for some extra beef it’s stacked with a BOSS-HM3- Hypermetal most settings at about 1 to 3 o’clock / level at about 12 noon ( neither pedal is fully cranked ) I just like to adjust them until like what tone ( MT2 Metalzone is great for adjusting tone) and distortion I’m getting. For me and what I’m playing that sounds great and has more than enough snarl to it. Also running a BOSS-NS2 Noise suppressor, BOSS- CS3 Compression sustainer, BOSS- GE7- EQ , MXR-EVH Phase 90 , PEAVY Dual Stereo Chorus, BOSS-DD3 Digital Delay , BOSS - RV5 Digital Reverb and an MXR- Super Comp and a DUNLOP -Dime signature CRY BABY FROM HELL Wah ( note: not all in that chain order or all always on etc. ) also have a PRO CO. Rat, still sounds bad ass! a B-Day present from my parents when I was 14 ,I’m 51 now 😄. For Amps I run 2 Marshall’s, Peavy , Laney (sounds amazing for a smaller amp!) , Roland , and a tiny Yamaha practice amp. I have about a dozen guitars- 8 various electrics Ibanez SZ-720FM,Fender Telecaster, DEAN- ML- DOF ( Dime-O-Flage ) , DEAN- VX Flying V , BC Rich Warlock, a Harmony Strat copy 13years old Xmas present and my 1st guitar ! ( 🙂 I still have it!) and various other random pawnshop beaters , 2 acoustics - a BC RICH sounds great , the other 1 is a BABY- Taylor it’s only about 3/4 size it sounds great and is really comfortable after playing electrics most of my life I find a full size acoustic sounds great but isn’t very comfortable. Also have a DEAN Metal Man Bass just for farting around on 🙂. My favourite and best playing guitar is by far the IBANEZ SZ-720FM and I was super lucky enough to have it autographed by Joe Satriani ! I have always loved looking at and joining you as you dig out and play new / old or special guitars that you have in your massive collection W🙂W ! and I always look forward to nerding out on more of your stuff as well. The blend pedals are amazing haha super cool, I’d say this thing beats the grindstein because Revv G3.5 beats that Goat drive thing The only concern I’d have with these blend pedals, is no one is going to go “oh fuck yeah! That’s an hm2!” when they hear it. The tone is buried in something else. I’d worry you’d lose that hm2 audience in your music, there’s a niche of people into that sound. That being said, you kind of need a good blend pedal if you have a tighter playing style because a straight thick buzzsaw tone doesn’t get along well with intricate riffing, so for a new artist that no one’s heard of much to try their playing against other players with similar overdrive tones vs riding the hm2 trend is a choice to be made But in the end, all the fun stuff is flooded with competition. Might as well just do what’s fun haha
