This is literally the first pedal I’ve heard with the right features in a simple design that would convince me to get a “just great clean” amp and then create my own distortion. BRAVO!!!

It’s absolutely wild in 2022 that new pedals don’t come with a mid knob or even a primitive noise gate. Ola really listened to what people want out of a pre amp pedal.

Even from the demo I would enjoy if the mids knob had a bit more range. Edit: that being said, a pedal that does a few sounds very well is always preferable over a pedal that does them all badly.

I am not a big Solar fan, but you just gotta give credit where credit is due- Ola managed to jam a whole lot of features into one pedal, while at the same time keeping the it size-friendly and at the same time having an absolutely top-level aesthetics that really raises the bar. Congratulations for a job VERY well-done!

Ola what a awesome Metal pedal. The shipping package and the Chug pedal box is top notch. Couldn't be happier! Love the slope and the etching. I definitely feel like you caught Dimebag in a box plus it takes my P-drive super well. I was chugging away in less then a minute.

@@LeftHandedRightHanded No he was talking about the separate gain knobs for high and low frequencies. That feature was (IIRC) in Fortin Natas which then found its way to Randall Satan and Randall Thrasher via Fortin.

This is a really good pedal. It has a lot of good features all in one pedal. I really like the advanced EQ, the gate, and the dual-gain feature. More options to dial-in your perfect chugging tones. It sounded really good.

Impressive. Pedal is useable throughout the knob ranges and should work for a variety of amps and guitars. Great demo as well on DI, stack direct or FXLoop, and combo. Personally I’m not a fan of modern metal tones but this is an impressive product. (I like crunch tones, use a Fryette D120 on my Diamond 4x12 with boosts and such)

Love it! U r a genius! The R&D work on it must’ve been top notch! Great awareness of the guitar market, a lot of features but focused more on supporting the purpose of the pedal more than on just craming a lot of functions into it. Super impressed and inspired! Sounds great too! The lil amp presentation in the end was a jackpot 🎰 fuck!

Sounds better than most plugins out there and it's a "real" pedal I think definitely even great sound for the studio and a great start to Solar Pedals, if you guys make a boost pedal it's defiantly (along with this one) is going in my collection. The noise gate is like icing on the cake that means you can crank it up as loud as you want!!!

Very bright pedal, which Ola seems to go for bright tones usually. Sounded killer into the poweramp!

Metal Distortion is usually bright since treble makes the sound feel more distorted, and when your ears are ruined after years of loud sound you want it even brighter.

I'm treble-sensitive, I like my headphones "dark", but I always liked my chugs bright. So uh yeah I will order this pedal and sorry for the people who will hear my chugs in "ultrasounds" in 50 years I guess lol

Good EQ-ing is everything when it comes to getting the tone u want, great to see you've done a masterful job of it in this pedal :-) Plus handy noisegate and ability to vary the hi vs low frequency gain. Superb.

This is a shockingly good first pedal! I probably won't pick one up as my amp has high gain covered, HOWEVER, this does make me excited for future Solar pedal releases. Hoping to see a gate or an overdrive in the future!

So good sounding pedal, packed with so many great features, built like a tank, with grreat design and named CHUG... kudos for all of these, bro, you nailed it to te max! 🤘 Please consider this when it comes to version 2: since it's designed to be used as a preamp pedal, I suggest adding a clean channel to it (when turned off or maybe as a separate option). As someone who's been using preamp pedals for about 6-7 years, a lack of clean channel could be real struggle when you're left with just with your dry power amp sound.

Gotta say, as a standalone distortion / preamp pedal, I haven't really heard anything that sounds better than this. It definitely works better as a preamp than a pedal directly into the input jack, but certainly not bad either way! Great job, Ola! 🤘

I've been playing the Chug pedal for several days, and I absolutely love it. I'm using EMGs > Chug > PowerStage 170 and it's so badass. I've been using a KSR Ceres, which is another great pre-amp, but I'm replacing it on my pedal board with the Chug pedal. It's got a classic Rectifier feel about it. The knobs are so sensitive that I'd imagine there are many tones in the thing, you just have to find the one for you. I'd like to know a bit more about some of the parameters behind the knobs and how they effect things, but I figure trial and error is how I'll fine tune it over time. Thanks, Ola, for the dedication that you put into this pedal. I trusted your name when I bought it and it was completely justified. 🤘

It's feisty, no doubt about that. It's all the good stuff built in a straight-forward package, bravo for that. No taking the pedal apart to turn a gain screw , micro-switches or micro dials on the side nonsense. It's priced about where I thought it would be and not in the stratosphere like some can get and the pictures make it appear to be of very sturdy, stage ready construction. Cheers.

Just wow! I really like this pedal and the possibilities to adjust the sound you want and with a noise gate it's absolutely great. If you compare it with other high gain distortion pedals it is not expensive. This pedal is on my list now "pedal I have to buy". 🤘🙃

Very nice. It brings versatility to amps with limited EQ options. Like the Engl Powerball II has separate knobs for Presence and Depth Punch to control the "tightness" of the high and low-end.

Within 6 days the Pedal #751 arrived in perfect condition at my home. Ola kept his promiss. Setup: Jackson Warrior 0946 Std.E / Solar V2.6TBR 1052 Std. D into the Chug-Pedal send to Clean Channel input of my Driftwood Nightmare mini into Hesu M212. YES, it does chug even down in Bavaria. What a scream. Oh hell Ya :-) It sits next to KTA "Oh my Goat" and will stay there for a longer period of time i suppose. Well worth the money. Would do again.. Rocks so amazing.

After many years I was convinced a solid state distortion pedal cannot sound as good as a tube amp distortion. I can't believe this is the first pedal that sounds good. This is the best pedal I've heard.
