I THOUGHT SO! - that back deck was WERY easy to recognize - i travelled with Tor Scandinavia from Harwich to Esbjerg in the mid 80s - and i can see that aft deck hasnt changed much.

I was sailing with Tor Britannia and Tor Scandinavia when they belong to Tor Lines in the 70th between Gotenburg and Felixstowe and Amsterdam, that lalter was very nice while the ships sailing on the channels to Amsterdam. Nice that those ships are still alive and sailing.

What a nice video - not only the image quality, but also the sounds. Those Pielstick engines have their own remarkable symphony :) First time I travelled on Drea (Britannia) was in 1980, from Gothenburg to Felixstowe. Since then, I have been in love with these 2 beautiful sisters. Perfect maritime design. I travelled with both sisters in July this year, going to and from Olbia, and I always enjoy standing in the aft - and be close to the sea. None of the newer "shoe box design" ships give you that experience :) Glad to see that Moby keeps these ladies in good shape, and may they yet enjoy some good years in the beautiful Italian waters. It will be a sad day for me when they will go for scrapping....I hate to think about it.... Thx again for this superb video :)

Glad you like the video, hopefully with the mild weather around there they will be able to stay at sea for another 10 years. I personally enjoyed watching the loading in Olbia the best. Older ships are always a little more interesting to travel on :)

Another outstanding video. And thank you for featuring the sounds of the journey - the wind, the water and the humming of the engines - instead of that godawful oontz-oontz-oontz music.

Thanks for all your videos. I think i have seen them all as they are the best and very good informative. Do you know why the Moby Drea and her sister have these bubble sides as this was not at the time they were originally built and sailing for DFDS? Thanks for sharing your experience on ferries with us.

Glad you like the videos. The bubble sides are sponson tanks to provide extra stability. Think they were probably added as a safety measure to keep her afloat if her car deck were to become flooded (Like a life jacket). There is a picture of the Moby Otta under the topic of Sponson on Wikipedia. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sponson

There seemed to be very few people on-board so how does it pay? Cal Mac ferries in Scotland which can also run with few passengers are heavily subsidised.

For me, the Moby Otta and Moby Drea are two most elegant and beautiful ferries. Their old classic design is much more elegant than most newer ships. And one question: why do Italian and Greek ferries always use stern ramp only, turning vehicles inside the ferry or even board them backwards? I think most of the ships should also have the front ramp, at least these old classics like Otta & Drea.

I am not sure why. I also noticed they seem to do the same thing in Spain. From my observation there does not seem to be any reason why the Moby Drea could not unload through her bow.

I totally agree with you..see also my post below :) These sisters are the most beautiful ferries ever and I have lots of good memories from them, when they were active up here in the northern waters. Actually, they never had a bow visor, but this side door: www.faktaomfartyg.se/extra_bilder/tor_britannia_1975_omb_1.htm scroll a bit down and you will see it. I guess it was due to the often rough waters of the North Sea and the fact that one of Tor Lines former ships, Tor Anglia or Hollandia had its visor going loose on a rough trip in a North Sea storm.

Very interesting pictures, Nice to see how the ship looked back in the 1970s.

These ships were made without bow visors for safety reasons. They were ment for sailing the north sea, which often can be rough.

I'd always assumed the name was Moby Dream, and that it was a spelling error. So it's not?
