I saw a hanging ad sign with 1985 on it so I don't remember hardly any of these bars I was there from 1970-1974 so alot of name changes and where are all the military hanging out at I didn't see hardly anyone on the streets? The streets use to be busy day and night I can almost smell the beer and cheap perfume. I saw one sign that said all beer was PHP50 and in the 70s we were paying PHP1.50 each but we only had one choice of beer. Good video.....cheers. :)

Classic cars? Yes. I once saw out a 69 Charger that had a Nissan 4 banger turbo diesel and transmission it at a rebuild shop. I asked the filipino, " where is the engine? He said it was the thing under the firewall. You could have almost put a hot tub between the engine and the radiator.

Wow you are taking me back to 1984 the first time we went from okinawa to clark. I never thought I would see some of these joints again other than my own photos, I have a giant smile right now and a couple years remembering my young days in the P I. My favorite bar was the gold coast a 2nd floor joint with a balcony of course, the DMZ, I have gotten so ripped off of Red Horse beer, also the clarkton hotel and the sleezy , no air-condition yellow submarine, what a dump but what fun it all was.

I must make a correction on my post from yesterday, I went to angeles for the first time in Feb. 85.I know the date doesn't matter but you know military guys like to get stuff precise, also the word years was supposed to be years. Now I want to talk about two small Australian owned bars I didn't understand at the time, one was Manly Fred's bar, didn't know then Manly is a part of Australia,we used to go in there for a beer and do our ridiculous bodybuilding poses as a joke because the the place was Manly, the other and I don't remember anything about this place called St Trinian's, St Trinian's is some kind of school for bad girls in England or Australia

Fire Empire, anything went! Nipa Hut, never was, is, or will be, a place like that - the owner (now long gone) was a genius. Nicest girls I ever met were there. No greed, no ladies drinks were necessary, the girls were so bored they were happy just to sit there and chat. That was before phones were invented.

I first hit AC in '93, and I remember so many of these bars. Its so sad to see they are all long gone now, torn down and replaced with huge multi-storey mege bars, with massive sound systems, and massive prices..... I loved it in the old days, when it was a bit wild, and cheap, and the girls were far happier, and life was a little wild......

Somewhere I have one of our 132 column STD list we had on the bulletin board in the MatShop, we had to look at and i initial each month. We called it "The Clap List" it has 420 official bars on it. The number would vary each month. We would make note of the bars that were Off Limits and those were where we would go and sit outside and pick out a date. One night I was at an off limits bar off of fields down past Stardust somewhere and it was late, the girls was hungry, only a few customers for a week, i had a 3 day weekend. They were starvin. I asked them if they would barfine with me for food. They all agreed. All 12 girls got in my old ford and went home with me. My 2 maids had a fit, so I gave them $40 bucks and sent them to buy food and 2 of the bargirls went with them. The other 10 i asked to the bedroom and they chased me there. They all slept in my room. Next morning i had them all undressed again in my room, and called a couple buddies over. They couldn't believe it. My own orgy. And yes i got photos to prove it. God I wish I could do that again. A couple weeks later Cupid caught up to me at a friends Bday party where I met the most gorgeous filipina in my life, and im still in love with her. She is taller than any I had ever met and so sweet and I thot she was part european, (white horse and coke). She works hard and never lets grass grow under her feet. I couldn't believe she was not a model. I am so lucky to have her.

Rocco's And then about 5 minutes 23 seconds... there abouts... but I caught the banner... At first it was the Thunderbird... and I thought it was there for the Thunderchickens... but I saw the date. Dec 31 1985 I was there. TDPY from Osan we were Flying alongside the Thai's... Great bunch. What a place. Often thought of doing exactly what Max did.. retire and become a bar owner down there. become an ExPat. Still might. Still time. Best Bar to start the night off. ! minute 24 seconds... There abouts... Hard Rocks Café.. order the house special. My first bar... and what a surprise. It was highly recommended during our in-brief from the 1st Shirt. I remember the night I was sitting in The Ugly Duck Bar, when Beverly ( not sure of the first name spelling), a ex- Scotland Yard detective came in and sat down at the table with me, and placed a baby python snake on the table between us. He said Fred lets have a few drinks with her ( all the girls started screaming and started running). They were putting in drains in Fields Avenue (a bit up from Dodge City). I think the snake was wrapped in me, always staring at me and trying to wrap herself around me and squeeze me. Beverly a great bloke and character seemed to always have time for a San Mig. or a rum & coke with me. There were many characters around then - Bones - Nifty Nev - Budda (I heard still had a couple of bullets in him). The most famous girl was Jema , I remember sitting at the front of Kokomo's Hotel Bar, Fields Ave., when she came out of a Ladies Hairdressing/toenail Salon just down from where I was sitting. She slid across the road like - I knew she would- swung left & right pass me like - I knew she would, looking straight at me like - I knew she would. I followed her up the road like- she knew I would. She slid into a bar like- I knew she would. I followed her in like- she knew I would, and bought her a Ladies drink - like - she knew I would..... I could write a book on my experiences in those days. Even when into one bar and bumped into a bloke from my home town living there, I went to a party at his place, a lot of well heeled people were there Prawn Trawler owners, A Sea Surveying Vessel owner A Nuclear scientist etc. Jemma happiIy I heard eventually migrated to USA..... Fred Long - Quiotboy G C..... Australia

Once I went to olangapo after being in Angeles 2 or 3 times, it sucked, totally different vibe there, I felt like they were just out to get you there, plus you have a shore patrol to break your balls if you're having too much fun, I don't not have one good memory from there, the only thing I liked about olangapo the music was more rock and roll and country angeles was more pop and disco, but who cares,Angeles forever

I will gladly buy your book if you write one. I had alot of memorable times there too. I had a good memory of one bar owned by an aussie. I BFined and BGirl there and got home and she wouldn't do her thing with me. I took her back and complained to the mamasan, she called the owner down, who had that aussie accent and he told me to pick any 2 Bgirls in the bar that I likes. I picked the two hottest ones in the bar, not know what his plan was. He told me "take them both and send them back by 5 tomorrow".

First time to AC was 2010. Last time was a few months ago. A lot changed from the 1980s when I was in the Air Force and heard about this place and even had a Shop Chief that had photos. What AC was during the time of these photos is all LONG GONE. But, there is still some fun to be had. These days it will cost you triple what it cost you back then in comparable dollars. But it is still fun. There are many names in these photos that are still there. Los Vegas, Lollipops, geckos, Brown Sugar, and several others. Better hotels today than back then.
