At this point eons of battle feels more like a shonen anime then a painting KZfaq channel. The amount of character arcs and long-term projects that Jay has completed feels Akin to how different anime protagonists overcome villains or challenges.

Ive been selling all my old stuff. The guy who bought my ork army loves them, apparently. Glad my old stuff can do for others what it did for me, especially as Im working on a new army.

The orks are how I take a break from other painting projects. I can easily spend 15+ hours on a kommando boy. I simply love orks

Ghillie Dhu sightings occured throughout the late Eighteenth century in scotland until a group of hunters attempted to capture him, but he was able to elude them and seemingly never appeared to people again. It’s theorized he was based a real man who lived in those woods, but others claim to have seen him up close and say it was no man but more of a fae.

For me that's Admech.. I started putting it together the switched from standard Admech color scheme to a Stygies VIII and then I decided I hated 9th edition so it all went into the closet. I'm putting it together now, so going to have to change out some bases and paint schemes. I really didn't think basing mattered, but it really kind of does.

If you plan on adding to the Mad Max ascetic might I recommend adding some "gyrocopters" to the mob in the form of some speedy deffkoptas, and maybe some transports for the footsloggers in the form of trukks, battlewagons, a converted kill rig, and a few odd buggies.

Ive never played WarHammer or even owned a miniature, but painting those things seems like it would be awesomely fun.

A little tip for those who don’t want to use pigment powders: Skin washes can work pretty good for rusty metal. I have personally used GW’s Reikland Flesh shade for this. Alternatively, watering down a rust colored paint also works.

I have a couple of months in the hobby and already own 2 big boxes and other 2 incoming, however, one is almost painted and I'm getting what I want and not being impulsive, I think is very important to know the armies and buy what you want and not "I will try to like this one" and of course, understand the hobby and give it the time/patience that it needs (a lot) and also to know that you can always build/paint it later, as long as you keep doing something, someday you will reach that box, I don't have a pile of shame, mine is proudly my incomplete collection that certainly will be finished ❤

I just can’t bring myself to part with my old models from when I was younger, like my old eldar army, despite not having played elder in ages, I can’t bring myself to sell those old shoddily painted by a 11 year old eldar. Though I have repainted the farseer, I wonder if they will ever reach the height of my other armies.

Heehee, I've just been rebasing by sticking the entire model, base and all, directly onto the new base, then using some texture gunk of your choice to smooth it out and hide the grooves and seams. Even troops look cool on slight rises, and it's a super-easy way to get the height and the scenic(ish) base.

Recently I had my death guard in the same unfortunate state, but as of now I'm painting everything up and finally making the list 1k, just need to finish the paint job before I'll call it happily done. This video has really made me think about finishing my army so then it'll be table and portrait perfect

good timing, i just dusted off my also around 1000/1200 points dark elves from fantasy, mix and match of old pewter and newer plastic, broken bits and unorganized unit sizes - but i have a plan to make them all cohiseve pirate corsairs with some extra sea dragon cloak bits and the approriate tropical sand beaches

Yo, I see that Gamemaster box in the background! I would love to see how you like it and build some terrain using only what's inside. I think it's a great product for people getting into DnD, but would love to see how far a painting pro could take it.

I've been sitting on the Imperial Knights and Adeptus Custodes Christmas boxes since December-ish with about 500 9th edition 'Stodes done up and my 4 Armigers fully magnetized and painted. But the Questoris Knight and the entire rest of the Custodes have sat on the backburner while I grind through my pile of shame of Kill Teams.

That Apple Barrel paint is no joke. I was recently stripping a pewter Necron Lord that had no primer, only AB gray and black. Stuff took a week alternating simple green and 99% alcohol baths, along with the sonic cleaner to +mostly+ remove.

My 9th Necron army, started with Indomitus and picked up several kits as the edition pushed on. Never got them on the table top and Kronos color scheme is not tough at all to do...OK summer project to finish all them

I know I am SUPER LATE to the party (literally just joined the community a couple months ago) but I love the Noise Marines so much, and Goff Rocker set me on a mission to create a diorama of an Ork band inspired by New York Hardcore band Agnostic Front - so I'm collecting the parts for the 2 guitarists and using the inspiration of the Squig amp to create a whole stage theme & build speakers into it. I'm also working on 2 Kill Teams - some Plague Bearers & some Chaos Marines i adapted and kitbashed starting with a Get Started Intersessor box

Can relate. Have a similarly sized Ork army that's about 50% painted. I might want to use it in the new edition too so who knows?

I bought my Orks army kinda on a whim a week before the price hike this year. I planned on building an Orks army… eventually, so why not save some money and do it sooner rather than later? That’s how I justified it to my fiancé, anyway (and bought her a Sororitas Sanctorum Guard box as a peace offering). I overpaid for a Beast Snagga Army box but I got the Battle Force with the Dakkajet for a reasonable price. I also bought the Orks Combat Patrol and Boarding Patrol. Those discount boxes provided me with a decent army, but chasing the meta really cost me: 4 boxes of Storm Boyz, 2 Kommandos, and 2 Kill Rigs. My Orks pile of shame is at least 3000 points. I’ve only assembled 3 Dethkoptas, the Mega Warboss, and 10 Boyz so far. I’d like to get an Orks army on the table before the start of 10e, but time is running out. Unlike Angron and Khorne for World Eaters, I don’t have any high points Orks units that will cost 1/4 of my points and get me to 2000 pts quickly. It’s unbelievable that the Kill Rig is only 190 points!

Most circa 3rd edition Sisters of Battle, Necrons, Khorne Zerkers, Thousand Sons, Space Wolves, Ultramarines, Deathwing, Tau, 3 Bane Blades, Imp Gaurd Armored Company think that was the name (old box set of 10 Leman Russ) and my love many many Orks and a stompa or 2 that I need to build.

I have a 6th edition FB chaos army That's just been started nearly 1 unit done but I try not to look at all the units in 1 go or I get depressed at the amount that needs doing so just 1 unit a time is coming out of storage just to keep my mind from exploding.

Question: Is fluorescent paint glossy? Does it lose its vibrancy if I varnish it matt? I really don’t like glossy finishes.

As a mainly Necron player I do 2500+ points of Necrons. But I also have about 750 points of Space Marines for an Iron Hands army, mostly assembled and ready to paint. A 700 points Sisters of Battle army mostly unassembled. And a single Admech Tech Priest still in the box. Hobby is time.

My pile of shame includes roughly 14000 pts of Tyranid models, from old school 3rd ed, and now soon to be 10th ed launch box stuff. Painted I only have maybe the contents of a combat patrol or two, and none of them are painted the same cause I couldn't decide on a paint scheme. Originally it was gonna be box art style leviathan. Then it went on to the Bugs from Starship Troopers. Then it was gonna be a custom metallic scheme. And now they just sit in my office in a pile of boxes, half built models, and primed squads.

Mmm... I lost all my paints, but I need to get around to finishing my IG/Traitor army. I have a Taurox I need to finish, and a bunch of minis I need to fix due to moving... As well as a bunch of fantasy minis I need to paint. Skeletons, a Gnoll chieftain, and desert raiders

Sisters of Battle... bought inwith the plastic releases... haven't assembled a single thing. It's inline for fall. Shatterpoint and catching up on MCP come first. The goal with Shatterpoint sets is to assemble them within 48 hours of purchase and painted with two weeks. We'll see how that second part works out.

That army for me is Primaris Salamanders. Its basically just the Primaris models from Indomitus, Dark Imperium, and Shadowspear with a couple of other units (plus the upcoming Leviathan contents, no doubt). They are all assembled in grey and blue plastic. Not a single one painted but they are going to be Salamanders when they grow up! But I have fully painted Black Legion, Necrons, and squatty Blood Angels armies though... which is nice.

I have a Sisters baby army that I am working on. The problem is that I can't and wont paint penitent engines or arco-flagellents. That leaves the army... thin on options. Still, those greenskins look great, and I can only hope that my sisters look half as good.

Ghillie Dhu is the name of a bar in Edinburgh but in Scots mythology it was the name of a male fairy who dressed in leaves and moss and gave his name to the Ghillie Suit. Who new you would get a lesson in Scot's bars, mythology and military camo!

I have 2,500 points of OG 3rd through 5th editions Ultramarines. It's been a long, long time and my original project was to incorporate the older models into Death watch. However, with the removal of a lot of those older kits it looks like moving forward the marines are being updated once more. I'm tempted to keep the models I love and cannibalize the vehicles for my chaos space marines world eaters army that I have 1500 points of. However I'd have to put them in a box and be like...old space marine boys, but I am very tempted to keep them and perhaps make dioramas for these older legends so that they can be shown off. Or just hold on to them and pull them out for special occasions. The ultramarines were my 1st army and I love them...didn't really buy upgrades as they updated to current, so they're a bit of a time capsule and showcase my progression from when I started...I just don't think I can let them go. World eaters used to be 2000 points, but I sold some old school blood letters (which is a shame, because they were so unique). And also sold the 3 rhinos that they came with. The rhinos were updated kits from the original Plastic Boxes that they used to be. Hence why I'm thinking of cannibalizing them into my world eaters, because there's a need and its right proper old school looking, which matches the chaos theme. I'm envious of your multiple projects and armies, it is a great delight to watch so keep up the good work and Waaagh on my dude!

As a mono-faction player I can't relate. I just have tons and tons pf stuff in my pile of shame and keep adding to it. But there's a bright side: at some point I'll have as much of everything as I can possibly field in a 2000 point army, so I can field anything I want and don't have to buy anything ever again.

i have almost 3000 points of tau, unpainted, unbuilt, and mostly unopened. and ive convinced myself that i havent come up with a good enough colour scheme but i also feel like its more than that, they were my first army i loved painting them then all of a sudden bam, nothing, no creative drive, ZERO interest in painting them, every once and a while ill build one up and paint it and there is just no satisfaction from it, even if they look traditionally really good. part of me wants to just walk into my local gamestore and trade in the whole thing for grey knights. its a struggle

Mine are my 'nids... my problems are: 1-I changed my mind about the color scheme and I would end up repainting them from scratch 2-I used the bases from the yet-unbuilt ones for other minis 3-I'm unenployed and I'll have trouble buying all the necessary items

Now the most obvious mad-max thing to make next is a Kill rig with the flamethrower guitar dude... but the less obvious thing to make is a squad of the goofy-ass Gyro copter guy from mad max 2 using some deffkoptas.

Sold my first army, the tau that were half built with no paint and felt pretty good. I still love the range and lore but not enough to build an army. Thats something I learned quickly about a this hobby, if you arent fully committed to an army, dont bother! Although recently I have thought of just buying the mechs to build and paint as a gunpla/mecha model fan. I also own both tau killteams, the pathfinders and kroot. If GW came out with more kroot models I wouldnt mind making a small combat patrol or 1k list in the future

I have an ancient vampire counts army sitting in my closet a friend gave me. It's massive, has all the classics, nagash, vlad, isabella, manfred, arkhan. But I also have an unpainted Soulblight Gravelords army for AOS. I wanna tackle them first so I have some experience painting dead things, so I can do the classics justice.

Skaven, Vampires/Flesh Eaters, Tyranids and Genestealer Cults are on the back burner.... yeah, I may have a couple 😜

You can unstick plastic feet from plastic bases really easily, using the Tamiya extra thin cement. Just wick some around the joint between foot and base, being careful not to touch any painted surface twice, leave it for ten or so seconds and give it a twist.
