”Don’t worry, just go for it my man.“ Put that on a sign. Performance pressure just gets in the way, and how can you learn properly when it’s all reduced to funless robot chores. The joy is in the skill, and getting it right, and then being able to actually build something, that’s empowerment.

Good tutorial bud. May help someone decide to give it a try. DYIs should eat it up!! Good job

He’s a quick learner and he has a lot of potential to make serious money being a bricky and I believe in the lad, remember when I started laying 4 months ago and now I’m flying it, he will be flying in 3-4 months. All the best to the lad

I was exactly this when I started 10 years ago...overthinking the things which then became second nature...I'm sure been on camera doesn't help either...but he will get there

Hi bud how do u stop bricks from tilting, or do you have any tips that might help please because when I upright its badly twisted making uprights hard
@BuildingwithBudd2 жыл бұрын
Well Jack without watching you lay in person it’s difficult to say, but a lot of it just comes with practice, maybe actually level each brick individual if you are a real beginner, it’s all about your eye and hand coordination, which just takes time, hang in there it will come, 👍👍 thanks for watching 👍

@@BuildingwithBudd OK thank you bud I will keep trying I think what I find I get a brick or block to gauge then level But then when I plumb it because leaning in or out a bid I upright it then the gauge is then too low But are keep trying thanks for your reply buddy much appreciated 👍

Basically the teacher should dampen the bricks prior to laying them then the perp joint wouldn't fall off all the time. Lots of brickies tap the brick but with practice you just manipulate the brick to the line. And no you don't put washing up liquid in the compo! Febmix or another plasticiser should be used. And yes I am a brickie
@BuildingwithBudd2 жыл бұрын
Malcolm I was having a bad hair day that day, I didn’t do my prep, all my fault not the boys, but I will turn it around, it’s hard enough trying to learn let alone me making it harder for him,🤦♂️ Thanks for watching

Best thing I was ever thought was lay bricks with your eyes mate spread out good bed so you have enough for perps aswell when pushing down lean brick back slightly so mud pushed out on front pick up with trowel lay to line next brick ,only tap if you have to and never go back to mud board if you don’t have to
@alanmcevoy14672 жыл бұрын
Surely you have a bit of fairy liquid in there somewhere...to make that mortar stick

Those first tentative bricks, All feels very awkward. Good effort though. Repetition repetition and soon be flying.

Get him pick and dipping if he struggling to butter the brick
@MrCharlan13 жыл бұрын
Terrible idea because he’ll never learn to butter brick? He needs to learn to butter a brick and master traditional laying before trying pic n dip

He can lay bricks to be fare but way to many movements going on and buttering up needs work ! Good effort ! it just looks very old fashioned way of laying compared to these days ! Certainly no need for the tap tap tap !!

Well he is old so it's not overly surprising his style is old...he's a bricky btw not a qualified teacher...and the old boy can do various styles

A DIY er teaching a trainee. Unfortunately budd wouldn’t even cut it at improver level with his trowel skills. He needs to go to college to learn himself. I can’t believe he’s the cheek to make tutorial vids 🤦🏼♂️ Budd must of learnt in the 70s When the bricklaying standard was at its lowest point.

Well said Simon I was watching painfully hopping for him to put a bat on the other end of the second coarse see how much out he’d be but he racked back lol. It won’t be long and the apprentice will be better than him...
