Violet Evergarden is one of those few animes that truly make you appreciate life.

The mother knew she has not much time left and she won't be able to see her grow up. She was actually writing letters to her daughter's future birthday. Even though the mother wont be there to guide her, the letter will always reach her during her birthday every year. This episode actually made me appreciate what I have when I was young.

I was in 6th grade watching it when it came out and this lowkey made me have a small existential crisis. I had the urgency to get up and do everything with my mom that day and that is the only reason I remember it so vividly. Feel bad for those who have to deal with the agony of not having an adequate person to fulfill as a mother

Truth: Every episode was very hard to watch, it made me watch into other anime. Each episode hit's hard, this anime gave us on how truly "Love is pure". Ive only seen 3 episodes of this anime, it took several attempts to finish an episode due to not emotionally prepared.

I love Violet Evergarden because it was made from someone winning a contest! It really shows that anyone can make something beautiful as long as they put their heart to it! I hope to animate my own show one day :)

The anime is called Violet Evergarden. Spoilers for this one episode (even if it was obvious): The letters the mother was writing were for her daughter because she knew she couldn't stay by her side forever, so she wrote 50 letters that would be mailed to her daughter every time her birthday would come.

This hit me harder than the first time watching cause my mom have cancer now. I actually cried. edit: Omg my most liked comment XD. Thank you for all the kind words. My mom is doing fine so far. The cancer got a bit worse so she started chemo for about 3 weeks. We have to wait and see how it goes. If it doesnt get better, she will go on a stronger chemo and I will shave my head with her. Again thank you so much lol. I'm glad to be a weeb XD

The saddest moment is the ending were Violet told to the other girls that she had to concentrate to not to cry during her service

No show has ever wrecked me more, emotionally, than Violet Evergarden. Because I can watch tragic shows where the villain destroys an entire village and the main protagonist get tortured. And I will feel sadness and sympathy for the character. But only to an extent. Because it just feels like a sad story. But Violet hits closer to home. Because there are parallels between the show and real life. Everyone experience loss and longing. And it is always going to hurt. But you have to move past that pain and move forward. Violet Evergarden does an amazing job of showing the grieving process and growing past that and living. Because you never really stop growing as a person till you take your last breath. You are always going to experience thing that will change your perspective. That is life. And there is a form of melancholic beauty in it.

The reason I love this anime, Animation: is top quality as is what kyoto Animations is known for. Story: it's interesting how you have so many smaller stories in one big one, it shows multiple perspectives as it builds a world of perfect imperfections. Music: oh boy, if there is one thing I love, it's music, and this OST is beautiful. This anime (for me) has a perfect balance between these 3 factors, the music and Animation work wonderful to convey the story, and the story is so intricate it pulls you in with emotion. And I always like these sorts of stories, because you as a person can learn and beter understand through its story. Just as its satisfying that you can slowly notice during the series, how violet learns. However all of this is strictly my experience, its always best to see for yourself. But please, don't knock it till you try it.

I don't know why, but every episode of Violet Evergarden made me cry... Especially this episode.

Violet evergarden is probably the only anime I have watched that made me cry in each episode it makes me feel like I am really going through that pain it just breaks my heart

This anime reminds me of my childhood. It makes me more emotional knowing how badly it hurts to lose everyone. I found a new family tho, and I'm thankful for them.

For the people that don't understand: -So the mom is suffering from a disease and is slowly dying ,so she hired a letter typer to write letters for each to be sent to her daughter each year when she dies because she still wants to still be part of her life when she dies.The daughter knows that there isn't much time for her mother to live so she's questioning why her mother is only busy writing letters and not spend time with her instead.

I remembered how I literally cried my heart out at this story

It hurts even more to know that the reason she was writing each letter was because she wanted to wish her daughter a happy 13th birthday, 18th, 21st etc and she was using her last moments to do so.

"There's nothing more important than you" Damn, that line hits hard once you've finished that episode

I just started this anime and it surprised me, I rarely cry at any films or series, but this one made my eye teared up in only 3 episodes.

It took me 1 week to become normal after finishing this anime, it was sad and happy at the same time . All of the episodes are beautiful but episode 10 , it'll leave you heart broken . I feel empty for a long time after finishing this whole series.. The creators really did an amazing job..✨💜💜

I watched this series 4 times and out of those 4 I cried twice. *TWICE!*. Now I'm not the guy who would cry easily over movies/series (or anything actually) but the fact that this single episode made me cry 2 times is just incredible. Violet evergarden had a big impact to my current mindset, really taught me empathy and change my view towards children instead of well... spiting them in the most obnoxious childish ways. It opened my mind towards it due to Anna and her mother's story. She really was too young for tragedy, they truly needed to be taken care of, guided for they still lack in certain categories.

This hits way more harder after experiencing the loss of my mother
