Welcome Grubbers, tonight is **Friday Night with Ms. Rose**. Ms. Rose is making Old Fashion Tea Cakes, a recipe we have had in the family since she was a little girl. I hope you enjoy, and if you would like to make these delicious Tea Cakes the recipe is below. Enjoy🙌🙌
OLD FASHION TEA CAKES
6 CUPS - ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
6 TSP - BAKING POWDER
2 3/4 CUPS - SUGAR
4 - EGGS
2 1/2 STICKS OF SOFT BUTTER (SALTED)
3 TSP - NUTMEG (OR DESIRED AMOUNT)
3 TSP -VANILLA EXTRACT (OR DESIRED AMOUNT)
3 TSP - LEMON EXTRACT (OR DESIRED AMOUNT)
1/2 CUP - WESSON OIL
PREHEAT OVEN TO 350 DEGREES. COMBINE ALL DRY INGREDIENTS WELL IN LARGE BOWL. 2ND BOWL ADD BUTTER, SUGAR AND MIX WELL, THEN ADD OIL, VANILLA FLAVOR, LEMON FLAVOR, EGGS, OIL AND MIX TOGETHER WELL. ADD DRY INGREDIENTS TO WET INGREDIENTS AND MIX TOGETHER WELL WITH HANDS OR SPATULA. SPRINKLE SOME FLOUR ON YOUR COUNTER AND TAKE DESIRED AMOUNT OF DOUGH AND ROLL OUT WITH A ROLLING PIN OR GLASS (DUSK THE ROLLING PIN OR GLASS WITH FLOUR BEFORE YOUR START, THIS WILL HELP THE DOUGH FROM STICKING). THIS RECIPE SHOULD GIVE YOU 48 COOKIES DEPENDING ON THE SIZE CUTTER YOU USE. IF YOU HAVE A NON STICK PAN US THAT, IF NOT YOU CAN USE ANY TYPE OF PAN AND JUST USE BUTTER OR OIL TO COAT YOUR PAN. BAKE 15 TO 20 MINS DEPENDING ON YOUR OVENS TEMPERATURE. ONCE COOKIES ARE DONE REMOVE FROM PAN AND PLACE ON COOKIE RACK OR WHATEVER YOU HAVE IN THE KITCHEN. ENJOY

My mother made them too. She was from Mississippi. I live in VA and know people from NC. They never grow up on them so sad. I'm going to try to make these. I never got my mom's recipe. Thanks Rose.

Mine too and she was 85 when she passed the recipe on to me.. she was native American and considered the recipe really special because it was so different from what she was used to from the res recipes and the native recipes she was a medicine woman and considered this a healing recipe because it made everyone feel so good.

This is something similar of my Grandmother's recipe. We make it like a biscuit cookie My Grandmother taught me howto make it while she had lupus. I was very glad I wrote it down before her health started failing her.

My mother loved to make tea cakes when I was younger she made them every weekend with two different pies we always have dessert and always had tea cakes she used to cut them and two different shapes she never made them round and everytime I watch someone make them they make them a little different than she did but I love watching people make tea cakes I have never made them but I've always watched someone make them and I always wrote down the recipe but since I'm raising my grandchildren now I think I will start making them for them so they can have the memories and share them with their children when they're grown thanks so much for sharing just saying

I've Been Looking For The Best Tea Cake Recipe. Came Across You And Your Channel. I Love Your Personality And Sweet Voice.You're A Great Teacher . I'm A Serious Cook Too , And My Children ( Grown Now ) No Not To Talk To Me While I'm In The Kitchen. The Ending Results Are Always Appreciated With The Taste And Love I Place On The Table. I’ve never had tea cakes, they look delicious. I am going to have my teenage son help me bake some today. It’s a lot more fun to share kitchen with people you love. I like that you did all the mixing by hand and didn’t use a mixer or gadgets. The rolling chair in the kitchen, is genius, you have just flipped my game friend.

My mother and my oldest sister use to make them when I was a little girl living in the south but mama and my older sisters and brothers were born in Tuskegee, Alabama and moved to Florida before I was born. I never learned how to make tea cakes. Probably because I didn't like them that well(but you ate what was given to you). I am going to try making and I might have a liking for them.
