Stapleton is a master of his craft. Accomplished singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist.

The CMA live version is even more awesome than the studio version. Piano and full orchestra in the background just kills it. Never heard Chris use an orchestra or piano. He just cuts across the genera. He can sing the ABC’s and kill it.

The strings really add to this song.....gives it the vibe....

Hey, I know they say that Chris Stapleton is country. I think he is but people keep asking what genre he is. Am I opinion, he is in the Chris Stapleton genre. I don’t think there’s anyone out there like him. From what I’ve been able to learn, he has a wonderful marriage with his wife and my children. I think that Chris has been given a God given blessing. I say that because when he sings the songs he sounds like he’s been through it. I don’t know if he has but he’s able to feel the song he’s singing. The man is an icon. I don’t care what genre you put him in. Chris Stapleton is doing his Chris Stapleton genre. Everybody seems to love him I know I do!

I have listen to this song a ton and seen numerous reaction. Of course I heard the strings, but never really appreciated them until I truly focused on them during this reaction. Really enjoyed this, because Mr. Stapleton is one of my favorites in country, western, blues, soul, rock, pop....yeah, he can fit in anywhere and most just love everything he touches.

Just found you today. Love reaction videos. Love that you are a Composer. I follow many on FB, and just love to watch their comments and how they play off of each other in how to reach a certain "success" on what ever performance they are working on. I don't comment, or like, or nothing. But I freak out when I see Hans Zimmer tell one composer how to set up his software, and then John Debney just likes and agrees. For me it is all about the music. I love the TOby Keith, Trace Atkins, Sawyer Brown country.. but like most of the comments.. Chris Stapleton is just awesome. I saw your first video with Tool's Sober.. Pretty funny how not only it's addicting to react, but we fans love to watch. I mean really. We all know what it is like to hear something the first time. Sober is just one of those that pull us ALL in. Thank you for what you do.

LOL..I noticed that you got in the song, and had a hard time stopping. The first time I heard this song I put it on repeat, and am pretty sure it was probably played at least a couple dozen times before I realized this is one of those songs I didn't want to end. Chris Stapleton has become one of my go to artists when I'm not really sure what kind of mood I'm in...usually when I start out that way Chris has the ability to find my mood...and help me find music that stays with it. Anyways, it's hard to stop this man's songs...that's for sure.

Peeking in for the 30 day countdown 👀 Stapleton has at least 3 classic songs that are worth decomposing (from what I've heard): Tennessee Whiskey, I Was Wrong, and Sometimes I Cry. It might be jarring to your viewers as we're mostly metalheads it seems but Chris Stapleton has transcended genre with these songs. Note: If you pick 'Sometimes I Cry' I recommend the live performance at Bing Lounge. 🤘

Hey Geebz! Man, Chris has an amazing voice don't he? The strings in this song, with the subtle slides, reminds me of a James Bond theme. It sounds like it has a lofi filter on the strings? Or maybe it was just a smaller room they recorded it in? Edit: looks like the production notes says it was a 6 piece section, with some cello octave overdubs. Beautiful, either way.

Ah yes, strings❤️ You’re absolutely spot on regarding section size. Bigger isn’t necessarily better! Same holds true with choirs. If you listen to Richard Smallwood and Vision’s “Total Praise” you’ll hear a sound untouchable by choirs three times the size! Love the strings’ glissando and the arrangement in general. Keep mixing genres! Good music is good music. Metal, country, reggae, pop...

I did recommend before and since I now know your affinity for strings is as big as mine, the Snarky Puppy We Like it Here series from which you reacted to Lingus, has a string quartet (they did not have a part in Lingus) but they are prominent in "Kite" and "Shofukan". My ever-so-small goal is to play music in a dining room(like at the steakhouse I wash dishes at). At $11/hr, it's great, but even on a full 40hr week, I split the music with my folks to help keep up with bills. Playing the piano(can't memorize, can't play real fast songs or read chords), is such a soothing thing, to me. I can play competently enough to call myself a player, but even just playing in a small lunch hall would be such a comfort.

I've never really liked country, but Chris Stapleton has a great voice and knows how to use it, and he has more of a blues style than country and isn't afraid to step out of the country box in his compositions. Still don't go out of my way to listen to him, but whenever I've heard his songs played I've liked it.

Man, Nashville is so far evolved from the old days. First heard Stapleton on Hell or High Water ("Outlaw State of Mind") and was impressed, yet here he sounds like pure soul, and it's definitely working for me.

de Composer, I want to suggest "The Day That World Breaks Down" by Ayreon. Arjen Anthony Lucassen (the mastermind behind this project, 'Ayreon') is a Dutch songwriter, record producer, musician, singer, and he is just a genuinely decent human being. What's great, is that Arjen will frequently comment on people's videos personally, and he humbly appreciates people checking out his music and accepts criticism with a good heart. Even if a reaction video is (in the case of his music) being blocked, he's known to be very approachable, and has even done the footwork (in many situations) of getting those videos unblocked for the "reactors." I chose this video because Arjen has it in a very "Hey! Step inside and I'll show you part of my creative process/musical talent/charm and good sense of humor" kind of "behind-the-scenes" format. The song itself features 11 singers, each representing their "role" in this Prog Opera Album's opening track; multiple instruments (of which Arjen plays guitar, bass, synths/keyboards) which gets ornamented with classical instruments (cello, violin, piano, and flute) in sections, and killer drums throughout. Overall, I really think you would nerd-out, and also really love this. I'm sure most of your fans would approve as well. 👍🏻

As someone who knows nothing about music (other than I enjoy listening), I would love to hear your comments on how the strings can help, or hinder, the emotions behind a song. In this song, I hear the tears, I hear the emotional despair in the singers heart. All in the strings. I'm sure Chris's talent has a lot to do with it, but would be interested from a composers point of view, how that is accomplished.

Really enjoy the way you projected your input. Too many people try to analyze and dissect music too much. They use terminology that most music lovers have never even heard of before, which is fine I guess, but sounds a little braggy lol. But the true reality of it is most artists do most things by feel and pure talent, and most of them don't even know the technical terminology of what they're doing they can just do it. So in fact, in most cases, there's not even a need to break it down... If it sounds and feels good you just do it.

I would love if you could review some of Matt Corby's music. The last album "Rainbow Valley" he was one of the producers, composer, played the drums, keyboards, piano, strings, synthesizer, vocals, backing vocals and of course did the primary singing. "Elements" is a pretty nice song with some changes of vibe to look into (i love to listen to it LOUD as hell, especially the later part of the song). In general the Album has a really nice chill and experimental vibe, something you might like from what I get :) There is a really nice short documentary online about the recording of the album called "Behing Rainbow Valley". Even if you decide not make a video about one of the songs, this might be interesting for you just to watch. If you prefer to watch a really intense live performance by Matt Corby, I very much recommend the live "All fired up (Live at Rainbow Valley)". Simple, just voice and piano *chefs kiss*

How about doing some jamiroquai some time? Some lovely layered funky soul, jazz, pop. Would also love some prince. But I imagine copyright would be an issue for his stuff.

Nothing wrong with a little country. I've mentioned this before on a couple of your other videos,, and you even liked my last comment, but you should check out a Japanese metal super band Unlucky Morpheus! They're a group of friends who came together to cover songs from video games then began creating original pieces together. All of their songs are great, but from a composer perspective I feel you would greatly appreciate their song CADAVER/REVADAC. With the exception of the drums and lyrics, the song is played note for note forward (Cadaver) and reverse (Revadac). I recommend the sheet music video that has the notes scroll at the bottom of the screen 🤘😊🤘
