Use to run a 190 42 from ireland to europe in the 90s and to be fair, you never missed the ferry. There was nothing that could touch her for power or speed, a pure animal, past everthing except a fuel pump.

I remember a friend of mine having one here in Donegal, Ireland... This is a massive V8 county, and there wasn't a V8 Scania in the area that could touch her!!!! He ran from Killybegs to Castletownbere, and Christ but she could taxi!!!!

Nice tongue in cheek video. I remember Gino getting about, he'd be in in 60's now. If I remember right the truck had Foggi plates on it, never saw him much north of Modena. And a couple of times between Rome and Napoli. You could open up the 480's to about 550, any more than that and they ran to hot. With standard gearing they were good for about 140, much more than that and they were reving about 1750 rpm.

Absolute legends of trucks. The old 480 Turbo Star was a serious force to be reckoned with. Will forever remember mine, pure raw brute force, but by God I loved them. Scania & Volvo could not compete with a turbostar, the more weight on them, the better they went and always with that trademark puff of black smoke when rollin hard. Excellent video, loved it.☘️👌🔥🔥🇨🇮🇮🇹🔥🔥👌☘️

18litre V8 should go well when most other manufacturers are using around 12litres and some even 10litres,I still think the Cummins 14litre big cam engine wouldn’t be that far behind it though,certainly a powerhouse to be reckoned with all the same.

That Iveco V8 had original 480 hp. Most truck engine to day are at 13 liter. Up to 540 hp. But you get Scania v8 with 16.4 liter 770 hp and 3750 nm. Volvo straight 6 15.9 liter with 750 and 3500. Man 640 hp 15.6 liter 640 hp ?? Nm. Mercedes 630 hp . Iveco 570 hp 13 liter. Daf 530 hp 12 liter. M

The speed is not 160km/h, it is ratther like 5km/h more than the speed indicator shown. (~130). Not only power you need to change gearbox and transmission to go above 140...
