Maybe. I purchased a used Nissan years ago with a 6 cylinder motor, when I first starting working out of college. Used it for daily commute too. It had a head gasket leak very minor but couldn’t even see it. When I found out what it would cost, didn’t have the $$. The car had 52k when I bought it, sold it at 180k miles for $500 many years later. I can’t tell you how many cans of that shet I put in there, every time it acted up. Then one day at work when I arrived could see it high pressure hitting the fire wall. Looked like a power washer. Whoa, to get home later took one of those huge water dispenser clear jugs, I think 5 gall, filled it up to get home. Another can of stop leak and it worked, that prestone shet worked again. Never had a no heat condition in car. Then the bottom of the gas tank rusted and was dripping gas, looked inside the bottom was totally rusted. Previous owner had the car sitting claimed since new baby. Yeh I bet for a long time thanks to head gasket leak. Replaced the gas tank, went to salvage yard, took one out of another car. I tell you, too bad the body rusted to shet, so I ripped a part of the radiator cap gasket off not to build pressure, put another can of prestone in the coolant, and sold it for 500 bucks. Loved that old 5 speed Nissan Z, about a dozen bottles of stop leak. 👍😎.

So how much longer life do you think? My boiler ran 63 plus, still going strong, when I converted to gas. The instantaneous coil was rusted to shet, good luck with those bolts. Even had that stack relay setup, who, I think original burner too. Made heat & hot water for me, for about 25 years. I bought a full burner setup ready to go if that stack shet quit. Need to sell that, if I had Steve’s address I would ship it to him free, totally it’s his shipping and all, I’m well off to toss it can’t be bothered with eBay 👍💪😎.

I am not a legal expert but if the new owners find out that the boiler was actively leaking and the homeowner knew about it and used this to patch it there could be an issue. The new owners could try to sue the seller for the cost of replacing the boiler. If they find this video it would support their claim that the seller knew the boiler was failing.
@robertp7209
@robertp7209 2 жыл бұрын
The boiler was fixed and not leaking when the homeowner or engineer did inspection before closing, then that’s how it goes. After all the warranty when new is long gone. You don’t have to disclose anything, perhaps asbestos and the like if you know about it. There is an old saying, “buyer beware”.
@Bob.W.
@Bob.W. 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on state law and the language in the purchase agreement. If a seller has to warranty all mechanicals in working order at closing the buyers woud probably have a claim. In my state the standard purchase agreements no longer have the in working order warranty clause, but they do require the seller to disclose any material change up to closing. So, it just depends.

@@robertp7209 It really is a gray area. So if they homeowner fixes the leak with this method then they don't need to disclose. If the boiler continues to leak after the fix, even a little, but they turn it off and don't disclose it because it is almost summer time then it would be on them. The home inspector should have flagged the boiler anyway as being well past its lifespan.
@jake2213b

In my state as long as the buyer doesn't ask how the boiler is you don't have to say anything. But putting a Band-Aid on it sure makes it like they want to hide something. And with today housing market the seller could do nothing and let the buyer pay to fix it. Go check out for yourself.

It’s up to the owner what he is willing to pay for, if he wants new fine. You get what you pay for. He’s paying either way. It’s not Steve’s issues, do you have any clue at all what’s on those yellow tags hanging, can you read? What are they called? Don’t be shy. Come on. They’d push the aftermarket warranty with the buyer, so some of the stuff would get fixed after the sale, and our paycheck would take the hit on the crumbs the warranty company was willing to offer for labor times. Sales department would also get bullshit with one of our state inspectors that would fail the freshly sold vehicle for inspection on safety items like tires, and loose steering components. Simply referred them to the R.O. showing the write up with all the details on the items they denied replacing during the initial works check.
