Thank you for taking the time to do this video, it was extremely helpful. New belt only cost me 11 bucks (vs) Wife was all set to buy a new dryer. (Now she's gotta wait another few decades.. LOL)

Dude! Best video out there! Couldn’t figure out why the damn thing kept squeaking and why the belts kept rubbing on each other. Thanks to your step-by-step video I realized it was because I put the timing belt backwards and into the groove….Works like a charm now after fixing. My roommates and I thank you!!💪👏🤝

Excellent video. You reminded me that there is an access panel in the back (hooray, you really saved me from a difficult time!). Secondly, you reminded me that the cloth side is on the tumbler drum. I would only add that some of the belts are a bit short, tight and if you place the belt in the tumbler drum indention or cavity it allows a much easier install. You can turn the drum clockwise manually by hand until the belt climbs out of the tumbler indention and into the proper position. Thanks for what you did, it was excellent and you saved many of us from those horrible field frustrations.

I think the dryer in this video is the same make and model as mine, because the control panel is identical. Mine is a Maytag DG410 (gas) that I bought new in 1980, along with the matching washer (model A310). I am still using them 39 years later. Haven't had to do a lot to them in repairs, and nothing major, but last year I had to put a new blower wheel on the dryer and a new water mixing valve on the washer. What brought me to this video is that now I suspect the belt has broken on my dryer because the tumbler is not tumbling when it runs. So I am going to have to tear the old dryer apart again. LOL. BTW, another video I watched recommended checking the rollers and the tightener pulley to make sure they spin easy, and that them freezing up was not the reason the belt broke. However, since my belt has never been replaced in 39 years I think it's probably just old age that caused it to break, but I will check the rollers and tightener pulley anyway. Thanks for the video!

What does cloth side vs rubber side mean? The belt has a smooth side the otherside has grooves. I assume the groove side mates with motor grooved pulley. So by geometry the drum and idler pulley are in contact with the belt smooth side.

The grooved side should face up and not contact the drum .

Try to add a few drops of oil to the axle of the white idler wheel.

I have the same dryer and just replaced the belt… I’m sure I have it back together correctly, but the belt keeps coming off when I roll the tumbler by hand… I do notice that the tension roller bracket itself has about a quarter of an inch of play in it… not the roller but the bracket itself…could that be why the belt keeps coming off or maybe the spring is weak?

I guess I should say the bracket has play in it from side to side not when you’re putting tension on the spring…
