As a western metal guy in my late 40s Road of Resistance is the one which did it for me, but SPECIFICALLY the original/official live in Japan version: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sLp1jLh3zLLalY0.html . I have never seen better crowd control and engagement, by any band, ever. Bold statement I know, but I've been to a lot of concerts and Babymetal are truly impressive in that regard.* Also Headbanger Live @ Legend 1997: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/j9Cair2hy8XOg6c.html *With Japanese crowds. I've seen them live in my own country and there not quite as much, would be a cultural/fanbase thing. There are a number of their songs - the older ones in particular - which I bounce off of (glad your first exposure wasn't Gimme Chocolate, it's worth watching a couple of times for the hell of it, but it's not on my playlist) but many are great.

@@Dunkelzahn2057 Yeah, I wish our crowds would get to the god level of Japanese crowds, too! Last year in Cologne the crowd was quite good tho. HUGE WoD for RoR, and a quite veritable row boat for Megitsune 😄 Regarding "Gimme Chocolate!!", it is a bit underrated, I think. Must be due to the fact that most people only know the Legend 1997 performance with studio audio. I watched the performance at the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, and there it is a blast! Absolutely wild, RAW classic BABYMETAL. Worth a try 😉

@@Wolfpack94487 I don't disagree that it's FUN as a video to watch, but I'm really talking more about 'which songs do I like to listen to purely for the musicality of the song itself (out and about, driving, whatever), without the visuals' It doesn't make that particular list. For me, those are songs like Headbanger, Megitsune, Karate, Pa Pa Ya, Divine Attack, Monochrome, Ratatata, etc. (No Rain No Rainbow for a bit of chill...)

The music video of Headbanger is actually pretty good because it explains what the song is about. Headbanger is a "coming of age" story about a young girl who sneaks out of home on her 15th birthday to attend her first heavy metal concert. Fifteen is an important age in Japan, because it marks the end of compulsory school education, so it's seen as an important age of transition. The lyrics are about the girl's awareness that childhood is ending and that she is going through a pivotal moment in her life, so she is marking the occasion with with a night that she will remember for the rest of her life. If you are wondering about the significance of the neck brace, it's a tribute to Yoshiki, the drummer and main songwriter of the famous Japanese metal band "X Japan", who famously headbanged so hard while performing that he damaged his neck and had to wear a neck brace while performing. X Japan are one of Babymetal's biggest inspirations and influences, and Babymetal like to include acknowledgements to their inspirations in their songs and live performances. The live version at Legend 1997 is considered to be the definitive live performance of this song if you want to check out a live versions. Headbanger is an important song in the Babymetal canon, because whenever one of the girls had a major birthday, they hold a concert to celebrate, and whoever's birthday it is does a special performance of Headbanger. In 2017 at Legend S to celebrate Su-metal's 20th Birthday, the performed it with the normal Su-metal lead vocal, then in 2019 at Legend M, to celebrate Moametal's 20th Birthday, Moametal took over the lead vocal and sang the version fans call "Moabanger", and then in March 2024 at Legend MM to celebrate Momometal's 21st Birthday, she took over the vocal and performed "Momobanger". I don't think you need to listen to the songs in chronological order. Listen to them in whatever order you want. Babymetal is extremely stylistically diverse and cover a lot of ground on any of their albums. Just meander through their discography at your leisure and enjoy the ride. It's a musical experience, not a university course. Next suggestion: "Babymetal Death" Live @ Legend 1997 - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oLiTbMeTzM-mgH0.html I think you will definitely enjoy that one. There is a very good guide video that was made by a fan recently that covers Babymetal's whole backstory. When you feel like you want to know the background, I'd recommend that - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/l6-SZdt22c7Ig5s.html

It's easy enough to google the English lyrics, but Headbanger is pretty much the beginning of the Babymetal, The story is of a young girl at her first metal concert and how she loses herself falling in love with the music and becoming forever changed. The video is significant because it portrays the Metal Gods gifting her the neck brace that was supposed to control her, but Su was powerful enough to turn it around and enslave the Metal gods .. Now they serve HER. This is why it's customary at Headbanger performances for the crowd to bow down before Su as the Queen of Metal. ... It's all good fun, but seriously, Su is just that damn good.

Great fun and thanks for coming back so soon with this ... but I hope you will watch a live version as well (live at Legend 1997 - Su-metal's 16th birthday concert in Dec 2013 posted by abr metal is a good one). 'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but 15 is significant in Japan as compulsory education also ends, so the girl is realising life will never be the same. She is having to grow up, she will no longer be considered just a child and her first 15 years passed so quickly, so she etching this special night into her heart so she will never forget. The neck brace is an homage to X Japan's founder, drummer, pianist and main composer Yoshiki who needed surgery after damaging his neck headbanging. BABYMETAL have used the neck brace a lot in their lore - they've even had at least 4 concerts where everybody in the audience had to wear one: - first time was for the official release of the single early in 2012, teir first solo concerts at the Rock May Kan in Tokyo (capacity about 150); - next was Red Night at the Budokan in Tokyo (capacity about 12-15,000 I think) on 1st March 2014 as they released the first album - next two times - both nights at the Tokyo Dome (capacity 55,000) in 2016 where they played a completely different set each night - all the songs from the first two albums. There are other versions of 'Headbanger' from special occasions as well. The Legend D concert in December 2012 for Su-metal's own 15th birthday and the Legend 1997 concert in December 2013 celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday both started with a (very obviously and deliberately lip-synced) dance remix version ('Headbanger - Night of 15 Re-Mix'). At concerts on or near their own 15th birthdays in 2014 Yui (in Paris) and Moa (in Cologne) took over lead vocals for 'Headbanger' half way through when Su handed them the mic and stand - she took their place in the choreo. Only fancam videos exist for those performances. The same thing happened in 2019 at the Legend M concert celebrating Moametal's 20th birthday (20 is (or was) the official age of majority in Japan). Moa once again took over lead vocals after Su handed her the mic and stand - and the lyrics were changed to "...this special night of my 20th...". Most recently in March this year at the Legend MM concerts celebrating Momometal's 21st birthday we got her version on the day before her 21st (she was not an official member the year before so she did it to mark the last day when she was still 20).

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 I was thrilled when they brought 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' back during the 2019 tour, and I was finally able to see it live at the LA Forum concert after being a fan for many years. 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' was one of their early hits. Even though the song is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first heavy concert, Su was only fourteen when the single and video were released. It's not biographical, but it is a song she could probably relate to. At that age she was on stage, rather than taking the train to see concerts like the girl in the song. : ) There's some complicated wordplay in the song, like "ichigo" meaning "15" (1+5), "strawberry", and "once in a lifetime", but essentially it's about the ephemeral nature of youth. There are only a handful of BABYMETAL music videos with stories, rather than just concert footage. It never bothers me if folks watch them before live versions, you can follow up with those later.

Welcome back to the Foxhole or just another way to say BabyMetal's journey 🦊🤘🔥 Thanks for coming back with this suggestion after your Metal Kingdom reaction, but once again you're missing the excitement of the crowd interaction, so make sure to check it out a live performance with live sound next time and you will really understand what's this group all about. Sometimes you'll get better experience watching some of their official MV, not always of course, some of those are "Megitsune", "Iine!" and "Doki Doki Morning", maybe "Karate" too, plus you'll meet the original formation, but like i said in this case it's better to experience this song for the first time with a live performance, especially Legend 1997 in 2013. Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BabyMetal fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind. Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday, thou the usual and most cool version to react is the live at Legend 1997 when SuMetal is celebrating her 16th Birthday. 15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date. The official MV is creepy for some fans, I guess the organ church gave that effect. The "Hedoban god" is representing the metal spirit and the girls are praising so the metal spirit of the neckbrace posses their bodies, you know, is metal after all, just remember we are -NotACult- The neckbrace here is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan, he's songwriter, composer, pianist and drummer, he's a living legend and a true metal god among Japaneses, he hurts his neck while headbanging so hard during a live concert suffering serious injuries, he got a life of so much sadness and sacrifice but he's such a talented musician and artist, even Michael Jackson was a friend of him, so yeah he's big, that's why BabyMetal got a lot of tributes to him on early songs and live concerts. At the end of this you can see an easter egg with the red moon teasing another song called "Akatsuki" (a SuMetal solo), is another song with tribute to X-Japan, live at Budokan 2014 is one of the safest clip to react. Another song i like to recommend for first time watching an official MV is "Megitsune" because of the Japanese visual elements unlike some live versions which contains certain parts I don't like the spoilers, such the intro. But of course live is a blast like the rest of their songs. Try "Catch Me If You Can" live at Budokan 2014 if you want another "creepy" and fun song (GuilhermeCait channel got a safe version to react) or "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 (careful with the official live, put a watermarked logo, opacity or translucent effect) And no, she's not the one doing those growling, she's shouting at the end thou. None of the Kami Band or anyone relevant is credited for the growling parts, except for certain songs like Distortion after 2019 and more recently the new official member doing some growlings when performing live in certain songs. There's another special live version you can see at "Legend M" 2019 when MoaMetal's is celebrating her 20th Birthday which is next week (July 4th). MomoMetal also got her own special version of this song at "Legend MM" performed last March during her last night having 20 yo, there's so slight difference in the lyrics as well the dance choreo you'll notice if you're BM fan or speak Japanese. lol I'm gonna leave in my next comment where to get more original clips safe to react if YT allows me to do it. See you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Great reaction! I discovered BABYMETAL in March 2023 and it has been life-changing. Not only did I, as you suggested, begin to learn Japanese to understand the lyrics; but I also: 1) Went to my first ever concert (ever) 2) Flew to San Francisco by myself to see them again 3) Traveled to Japan by myself to see them live at FOX_FEST - before BABYMETAL I had never dreamed of going overseas, least of all for a metal concert where I would jump in circle pits 4) Began to see metal music, and for that matter, the world in a different way Some combination of the music, singing by Su-Metal, dancing by Moa, Momo and Yui, lyrics, energy and positive vibes has resonated with me more than almost anything ever has before. Another great reaction, thanks! "Headbanger!" is one of their early hits, a meaningful and very important song for them as they like to use in special occasions as you have been already told. Since the previous video was an "official video" it wasn't live. A general rule for the videos on their channel is: if there is the word "live" in the tittle, then it's an actual live video. Otherwise, it has the studio version. The thing is that you still haven't listened to the Kami Band playing live (and they are an important part of their success)... not to mention Su-metal's live vocals. So, for the next one I'd suggest "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" (Live at Sonisphere 2014) or else "Road of Resistance" (Live in Japan), both from their official channel. 🤘🦊

Next suggestion: - *Road Of Resistance* live in Japan official MV (2015), it's the most epic live version and with the best sound and technical execution by the best musicians you can find in Japan. It's always better to enjoy the BM experience when seeing their evolution since early era with the original trio till this new era with the new official member. Unfortunately there are a couple of fans here and there who become 2023 elitists or post YuiMetal's lovers and it almost seems to try to hate her when in fact she was part of this magical group since the beginning and one of the reasons many fans love it, we don't wanna discredit what the new member MomoMetal is doing right now because she's certainly valuable for this new era in her own way but like i said, knowing the roots and all the things they've been going throughout all these years will make you appreciate this group and the girls even more as well the Kami Band and passed members. Oh btw, they did inspire a lot of fans to learn Japanese just because they wanna understand the lyrics, BM even made a song dedicated to all of us because of that reason, song is called The One and that's the official fandom name. Don't let those fans fool you and their egoism taking you away from this unique feeling and experience we felt since BM started with their first song. Everything will make much more sense, there's no need to rush, trust me. 🦊🤘💀

You should react to headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! MoaMetal version next! Its a special performance where Moa takes the lead for the second half of the song. They did that because it was her 20th birthday which is kind of a big deal in Japan (its like officially entering the adulthood). The show was held at her hometown, Nagoya in 2019 and it was called LEGEND M (the M stands for Moa). BABYMETAL has done that for Yui's and Moa's 15th b-days and Momo's 20(21)th b-day aswell and you should definetly check those out too! Moabanger is my favourite version of the song, but ofcourse everyone has their own opinions and i think the others are great too!

They are epic live, I saw them in Melbourne last year. They didn't play this song unfortunately, but they did do heaps of other ones I love. They really do dance the entire time, and Su's vocals are just as good as the recorded version. The announcement of Momo-Metal joining happened soon before that concert and when I tell you i was HYPED I can't even begin to explain. My favourite song is probably one most don't care much about which is Awadama Fever and it's about bubblegum 😂 but I love the dance they do to it and the heavy breakdown in the middle, it's just so fun. Happy Metal indeed!

"Brilliant Madness" is actually a pretty brilliant way to describe the Babymetal experience. Together with Babymetal Death, Gimme Chocolate, Megitsune and Road to Resistance, Headbangeeeer! is one of the songs that define early Babymetal and are still performed live on a regular basis. grington300 has described the meaning of the song in his comment here in a nutshell. Translations of various quality can be found online. The label only provides Japanese lyrics; if any. And even those songs that are mostly english can be pretty opaque. AJ Heartly, a former Shakespeare professor and big Babymetal fan, has done so called walkthroughs for over 40 Babymetal songs on his YT channel. He not only breaks down the lyrics, but also uses the choreos and his knowledge of Japanese culture to dissect the meaning. I can't praise his work enough. Listening order? You can of course work your way through all four albums in that order, if you want. Or maybe you'd prefer to alternate between older and more recent stuff? As you just saw the neckbrace: It shows up again in the live performance of Babymetal Death at the "Legend of 1997" concert from 2013, considered by some to be THE defining concert of early Babymetal. Gorgeous visuals, albeit slightly disturbing. The creativity put on stage is mindblowing and has only rarely been surpassed later, if at all.

Nice to join the fox hole, joining this the reborn again metal head. I was brought up on Deep purple, Nazareth, Pink floyd and so on, I have for a long time missed the great vocalists you find in these bands and gave up on metal for years. Babymetal has been a breath of fresh air to me and I do my best work playing this loud. Note : Babymetal is a play on the Japanese words "heavy" and "baby" which are nearly identical in written and sound form. It was also a new style of music. It was not meant as a description of the age of the band. Go for the live performances, Su-metal has said that she builds on the recorded session as a starting point and the live performances are something else. Karate : music video (the exception), but you can't go wrong with any live one. Road of resistance : live in Japan (offical) - crowd control and incredible energy BMC (BxMxC) : budokan 2021 ; heavy metal rap - get head really blown off. Monochrome : live at the PIA 2023 : Megitsume Rondo of nighmare : Budokan black night with mischiefs of gods - this shows the god tier Kami band as they solo and summon Sue from the depths where she kills it. Starlight & Shine : 2 parts of the trilogy of lights which are eulogy to the death of the guitarist (Mikio), the first is the pain of grief and hits very hard non stop, the second is remembrance and acceptance is really powerful. Kagaru Sonisphere 2014 : there are some performance video (full video), this was the first main outside Japan show (UK in front 65,000 metal heads) where they went on the main stage at the last minute. It started with song one (Death) with the audience doing a "WTF", and on the 5th song screaming for more. Just image being 15 & 13 (the dance/scream Moa/Yui) and winning over us really critical UK metal heads in the space of about 20 minutes. Anyway, there are so many you could listen too and it does not matter much - just enjoy, and you have been told in detail about the band etc.

Oh, I didn´t expect you to be such fast with the next reaction! 🤣 Great one! Hmm... "Slipknot for the first time"...🤔 You should try - "Catch Me If You Can" (Legend 1997 concert, or "2014 Budokan Black Night" concert) next then! Try the channel "For The Fox God" to find a reactable version of the live videos. "Headbanger" is a real banger, isn´t it? You should try the different live versions of it, too! There are SO many of them, and each one is different! The most impressive IMHO is the live version of the "Legend 1997" concert. Most special versions are the ones done by Yuimetal, Moametal AND Momometal! They sang the second half of the song at their birthday concerts, Yuimetal did it first in July 2014 at the La Cigale, Paris, France (fancam footage only). Moametal followed a few days later at the Live Music Hall, Cologne, Germany (no footage available, sadly). Moametal did it a second time, after the lyrics were changed for Su-Metal´s 20th birthday ("Legend S" concert), and she did it at her special birthday concert "Legend M" at Portmesse Nagoya, Nagoya, Japan. You will be surprised how well she sings! Momometal honored us with her amazing performance in March 2024, at her birthday concert "Legend MM" at PIA Arena MM Yokohama, Japan, and on the last evening she was 20 years old. THAT was a performance! 😉 Lately they put it back on their regular setlist for live performances, as well as "Karate". Quite a surprise, but a very nice one 😄 P.S.: almost forgot about the "chronological or not" thing... honestly, it doesn´t really matter. If you like to watch them grow up, chronological would be logical 🤣 Otherwise, there are so many performances of the same song, and every single one is special in one way or another. "Iine!" MV is super crazy good, but their 2023 live performance of "Iine!" (11 years later!) is super fun and cute, too! The songs of their concept album "The Other One" are much more "mature", as some people say, but I think that was simply the topic of the whole album. More serious. The following single "Metali!" though is more like "classic" BABYMETAL fun stuff, although our Queens are in their mid 20s now. I don´t know if "Maturity" really counts, as BABYMETAL seem to never get old...

Nice reaction and welcome to the foxhole :) BabyMetal excels at live shows but there are a few mv's that shouldn't be missed. 'Doki Doki Morning', because it was their first and the one that started it all, 'Megitsune' or you'll never understand what the spoken part towards the end is all about, 'Iine' (iine) so that you'll understand what happens in the second segment (It'll also blow your mind lol) and 'Karate' just because there are some visuals in it that can't be duplicated on stage. Enjoy!

Great reaction! I'm sure Grington300 will fill you in on all the Babymetal info 😉. Their MVs are great, but be sure to check out their live! One major difference to keep in mind vs a "regular" metal band: Babymetal is just the 3 girls, and their band, the Kami Band, only backs them for live (not in studio production). *Chronological Order:* Only matters if you wish to "see them grow up" through their music. A lot of fans feel like proud "uncles and aunts" watching their neices develop across the past 14 years in Metal, hence the suggestion. If that's not important to you, then feel free to hop around. Totally up to you. *Next suggestion:* *Headbanger (from Legend 1997 show):* So you can see the live version from lead Su-metal's 16th birthday show in Dec 2013. *Road of Resistance (Official Live):* You can find this on Babymetal's channel. An epic power metal battle anthem in Jan 2015, with Dragonforce influence and involvement in the guitar parts. Look forward to more Babymetal!! 🤘🦊

Basically there a tradition between the girls that on their 20th birthday (if i recall correctly) the girl will sing part of the song. It's impressive espacially for moa and momo (the new girl) to see how different they can sing aside from screaming and dancing. Perhaps you could do a special and check all 3 together

Just as an fyi, the reason for the "live shows only" request is that the audience is considered part of the show. BABYMETAL + Kami Band (the musicians in the back) + Kitsune (fans) = The One. MVs miss that energy. Having said that, there are a few videos that are iconic, and the mv is better. Megitsune is one of them. Megitsune is pure essence of BABYMETAL and continues to be on their playlist to this day. When you finally get to it, music video, please! And good call on the Slipknot feel. I usually say Slipknot, Rammstein, Alice Cooper, etc. because of the performance as a Grand Spectacle, not just a "concert". It's theater, and it's best approached that way. $.02 So yeah, I'm loving your BABYMETAL reviews so far and subbed up! Looking forward to checking out your other stuff too! 🤘🦊🤘 #notacult

Su is now 26 and Moa turns 25 this weekend. They have honestly always been fun, but live now they are a powerhouse in my opinion. And I'm a 56 year old metal head. I haven't seen anybody explain the fox hole yet so here goes a quick run over it. Some idol groups such as Babymetal who have a particular theme for them also count with a narrative that holds the theme together aesthetically, musically and overall. BABYMETAL'S narrative is of a legendary cosmic fox entity who rules over all metal music (Megitsune, if you will and you might soon understand why). This deity has first chosen three souls as its emissaries to incarnate on Earth: Suzuka, Moa and Yui and together they shall live as Su-Metal, Moa-Metal and Yui-Metal, inspired by the same deity who sent them to form the group BABYMETAL and their mission is to rock the world with their music. Now, a recent addition to this lore made some years after Yui Mizuno has left the group is that the Fox God sent yet another emissary, born and shaped from a bright star then sent from west to east to carry out the mission and once again make Babymetal complete again, named Momoko Okazaki and becoming Momo-Metal (and boy, oh boy... Vocals of an angel of joy, growls like a demon in rage) So basically the Fox hole is like Alice's rabbit hole, down and down it goes to the Wonderland, except is a Fox digging it and it leads to METAL. Of course, that's the basic course you can apply to nearly everything they do and the meaning of the songs somehow tying back to this but lots of songs add their own bit to this narrative, like Meta Taro so, have fun, welcome and hope this helped! And if you're reading this and I might've made a mistake about how the lore goes, please feel free to correct me, I've actually only became a fan some few months prior to the release of RATATATA when I discovered Momobanger so I might still have stuff to learn.

Thanks for this reaction. This is an era of kids and the staff they work with just having fun with the metal genre. But very much it's also about the discoveries of (sub)cultures by mixing them. I believe this is the best translation we have with comments by a Japanese person trying to explain everything. Some important pieces of context are still missing: X-Japan a famous metal/rock band from Japan (probably the most famous, from a time when metal was more mainstream), the main songwriter, pianist and drummer (Yoshiki) broke his neck while headbanging (he had a fragile body, he almost didn't make it out of childhood. It still doesn't make it less impressive). His doctors told him he could never perform anymore and especially headbang... he wasn't satisfied with it, to he got a neckbrace and performed with that. Headbanger! [???Head panic, head panic???] Hedobangyaa! Headbanger! Ban ban ba ban!] Bang, bang, ba, bang!] Hedobangyaa! Headbanger! [???Hedopani hedopani ...???] [???Headpanic, headpanic, ...???] 15 [i] About the Word "Ichigo"(15) In Japanese, "15" is usually pronounced as "jûgo" ("jû"+"go" = (1x)10+5 = 15). It is rare to read "15" as "ichigo" ("ichi"+"go" = 1(x10)+5 = 15). A more used "ichigo" is "一期" (= lifetime / once-in-a-lifetime). It comes from "一期一会" (ichi-go ichi-e) which represents a teaching of a great tea master SEN no Rikyû. He said that you should give respect to your host (or guest) as if the meeting was the once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet each other. The most used "ichigo" is "strawberry". A dreaming girl has faced the reality and she can no longer dream like before. Such an experience is said to be "horo-nigai" (= bittersweet) or "ama-zuppai" (literally "sweet&sour"). The latter is associated with strawberry and used for less bitter experiences than the former. There is an old-fashioned word "ichigo sedai" (= strawberry/15 generation) which refers to the girls (& boys?) around age 15 associated with such experiences. (There is yet another meaning of the Strawberry Generation in Taiwan.) It is clear that the lyric writers were thinking of "ichi-go ichi-e" when they read "15" as "ichigo", so I translate "ichigo" to "special". Strawberry is not for sure, but the sweet&sour-ness is characteristic of age 15. (I revised note [i] on 2017 May 20th.) [i+] About Another "15 no Yoru" There is a famous song titled "15の夜" (Jûgo no Yoru) sung by Yutaka OZAKI. It says like this: I start running the motorbike I've stolen, not knowing where to go, just into the dark pall of night. Disliking to be bound by anyone, I escaped into this night, and I felt I became free. It was the night in my fifteenth year. This is his debut single in 1983 when he was 18 y.o. After age 20, he had been struggling to write new songs and died in his 26th year by drug overdose. He has been regarded as a rebelling teenagers' hero, but he also wrote many love songs. His fans admire his lyrics for explaining why they do/did what they do/did, expressing what they can't/couldn't notice by themselves (e.g. "I escaped" above). Archy san on 2014 Nov. 13th & not a few people think the lyric writers of "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" referred to Ozaki's "15 no Yoru". But I don't think the lyric writers are Ozaki's fans because the lyric doesn't express what Ozaki's fans would want to express. [ii] About the Words "Gyaku-dai", etc. and "Hedobangyaa" "Gyaku-dai", etc. are used among the fans of "visual-kei" rock bands (they are so called because they all dress up). I didn't know these words and have researched them on the internet, so I'm not so sure. The girl fans of visual-kei are called "bangya" (= band gals), and this is why the title is written as "ヘドバンギャー", i.e. "hedobangyaa" = "headbang" + "band gal". "Gyaku-dai" (= diving oppositely, contrasted with the diving of the singer into the audience) is the (scheduled) rushing of the audience toward the stage. Typically fans jump up & forward raising one fist up, or instead of jumping, some bend their upper body and pull down the raised fist (thanks to Anonymous san on 2015 Feb. 10th). The fans in the front row lean over the low fence that keeps the audience away from the stage (= saku-dai). Some fans actually jump above the mob. Some fans far from the stage are thrown up and roll forward over the mob (= koro-dai; crowd surfing). To prevent severe accidents, there are some manners of gyaku-dai. Those who go to the visual-kei concerts should learn them in advance, from their friends, searching on the internet, or from other audience just before the concert. ____ 1. At first BABYMETAL official KZfaq channel used the notation "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" and changed it to "Head Bangya!!" soon after the release of the first album, but it was changed back to the original in the autumn of 2015 (thanks to Anonymous san on 2016 Apr. 19). 2. The original line has none for "long", but "kuro-kami" (= black hair) is the Japanese traditionally ideal hair and typically long. 3. "Midashi" (= midasu) means "to disorder". It represents the state of long hair in headbanging. At first I took "scattering gorgeously" but discard it, being afraid that the readers would take the hair fallen out from the head. 4. There is a word "kurui-zaki" which means "(for a flower) blooming out of season", but 15 y.o. is the season for a girl to bloom. 5.. At first I thought this line is "Kon kon ko kon" (= fox barking) because, at this part of the music video, the long-haired person made the fox signs, but Anonymous san on 2014 May 26 pointed out this line is "Ban ban ba ban", and MOAMETAL clearly said so in the audio commentary on this video, so I've revised the lyrics. 6. "I've made up my mind." may be better, but there is another expression "kakugo o kimeta" which corresponds exactly to it. 7. "Juuhachi-kippu" (= 18-ticket) is the ticket for one-day unlimited ride, available in school holidays and not available for the trains requiring the express surcharges. Young Japanese travel with it, changing trains, over 500km a day for Tokyo or elsewhere. 8. "Dosen" = "do"+"sentâ" = the very center. Using "do-" sounds somewhat vulgar. 9. "Kamite" & "shimote" (literally "upper" & "lower") mean the "stage left" side & the "stage right" side in this song, but these words are addressed to the audience. 10. Grammatically "X kara no Y" is "Y after X", so, if "after" is used, the phrase order is reversed: "rolling... after leaning... after jumping...". 11. "Oritatami" (literally "folding") is a jargon of "visual-kei" fans and means something like "bowing deeply" but not a salutation. 12. If ignoring the word order and translating literally, this is "I etch in my heart this very short period that shall never come back again, this special night of my fifteen". This phrase is repeated three times, and "modora-nai" was slightly changed to "modore-nai" on the third time. "Modore-nai" is the negation of "modoreru" which represents the ability (to come) or something. There is no grammatical subject, but I think "I can't come back to this moment" is better than "this moment can't come back to me". (Appended on 2017 Mar. 17th.) 13. "Hirari" is an adverb used for a light movement. "Mau" is a verb used for slow dancing and also for flying of butterflies, etc. 14. Anonymous san on 2014 Mar. 13th pointed out this line is "Atama atama...", MOAMETAL said the same in some video message, and it was so pronounced in some live takes, so I've revised the lyrics and translation though I can't hear it so in the studio take. 15. I think I hear something other than "hedoban", but I'm not sure if it is "hedopani" (added on 2017 Mar. 17).Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! (Headbanger!)

Very cool!!! It's always great to watch Babymetal videos, but whenever you can, try to watch recordings of live shows. The clips are missing a fundamental component, the fan base!!! This band's shows with the fan base participating is something incredible!!! Enjoy Babymetal!!! 🤘🦊🤘

One advise…. It’s always better to watch a BabyMetal video that’s from a live concert performance. The MVs are great but you get a different vibe when reacting to a live performance. It’s the closest thing to experiencing being there. Being at a BabyMetal concert is on another level.

Learning the lyrics will help a lot to understand. Tells of a 15 year girl's first experience going to a metal concert. They still do this song with changes to the lyrics to reflect the members, change the lyrics from 15 to 20 year old girl depednig on the occasion (for Su, Moa, Yui and now Momo's birthday.) Early vids were more "handmade" outfits from whatever they could find, lower budget look (but not the music!). After then, each show and video are a production like you never seen (but you will see soon!) Su, Moa and Yui in this vid, Momo added officially in 2023 (youngest).

Listening to headbanging song called "Headbanger" on a channel called Headbangers Guild? Never saw that coming. 😝 Definitely more Babymetal. Although you don't necessarily have to go chronologically, that would be difficult. I think it's easier to react to songs or performances following their Eras. I would say Babymetal has 3 distinct eras. The Founding Members era (2010 - 2017) The Duo era (2018 - 2022) The New Trio era (2023 - Present) They started in 2010 when the lead singer named Su-Metal was 12 while the two Yuimetal and Moametal were 11. Yuimetal left in late 2018 due to health issue. Then in 2023, they finally got a new 3rd member named Momometal. It's a good idea to follow these eras to see their growth. Anyway, keep diving down the Fox-Hole (Babymetal version of the Rabbit-Hole) 🦊 Enjoy!! 🦊🤘

Thanks for the reaction. Like many others mentioned, try live version of this song too. I know many suggest live Legend 1997 (i think there is a bit of nostalgie in there), but if you want a "newer" live version, you should try out Live at Makuhai 2023 version ( kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ar6Sp5ydlb3Ieps.html ) the crowd is insane on that version

Do 'Headbanger live legend 1997 Apocalypse. BabyMetal is a performance band, so some performances are better than others. Based on the costumes the 2 dancers are about 13 years old and the singer is 14-15. Older to new might be best, it starts out more Power Metal then goes from there as they age.

6:55 I've learned Japanese since I discovered Babymetal. But it was more indirectly because of them. You don't need Japanese to love Babymetal. But they got me into other Japanese things that made it worth it to learn Japanese. Well. I don't really 'know' Japanese but I'm at a late beginner or early intermediate level. Some parts of the song I understand.

The MV is very humorous and I like it very much. That neck brace was given to her by Fox God to protect her neck. The origin of Fox God is related to three girls. I'm sure someone will explain it. I think the connection between BabyMetal and Fox God makes BabyMetal mysterious and interesting. Thanks for your great reaction.

If you want the Babymetal videos with subs, the channel “For the Fox God” is the place to go. I recommend to watch first without subs, since the show is as much about the crowd interaction and participation, and while reading subs you can miss the dance which it’s related to the meaning of the lyrics, Babymetal it’s a full show with every element playing an important role. 😊

I have to chime in about the live performances; Babymetal is truly best live. I can count on one hand how many bands are better live more than 95% of the time with their catalog of music a good example is the dual song live of "Tales of Destinies" followed by "The One" there's a combo video of them together on YT after that I guarantee you'll understand completely bonus: "Devine Attack" non-live music video is one of the 'almost' exceptions. the mv AND the live performances are amazing. watch the mv first though. great having you down the foxhole with us all! 🤘 🦊 🤘
